I usually go into wilmington for my hair but I really wanted to stop making that drive and find something local. Literally booked Mary the day before for a full head highlight to blend my grays and keep my beachy bronde hair. I was scared but she literally perfected the color. I usually hate my hair even the day of (takes me a week to get used to it) but I walked out loving it. It's perfect! This place is a gem for the locals and the tourists alike. I went there this week scared to death because I needed a completely new haircut and color. I just moved here and had to take a leap of faith! Andrea did my hair and let me tell you not only was her customer service amazing but she was very talented. My hair was a disaster when I went in and amazing when I left. She didn't try to sell me any product that I didn't need either. The salon itself is beautiful and clean. Two days later I went back for a massage from Alaina...OMG she was fantastic!!! I felt so much better after I left. She's very good at respecting your privacy and providing what you need. I can only say wonderful things about my experience, I got my hair cut with Kathy and she was beyond amazing! i'm always weary about trying new places when it comes to my hair, but she absolutely listened and gave me really knowledgeable advice. The atmosphere was also amazing as from someone that gets a tad anxious going somewhere new as well. It was very welcoming. When someone's reading reviews, you're going to see good and bad but any of the bad reviews that are on here do not explain the salon at all. it was a clean overall beautiful experience and I would recommend to anyone. I'm going to break this review into 2 parts hair and nails: Hair: I got my hair colored and trimmed by Angelic (who is super sweet) about 4 times. She's pretty good at color, but one time I asked her to actually cut my hair and it wasn't that great, so if you're going to go to her just get a color and trim. Also, I found it odd that she didn't put product in my hair prior to blowing or even brushing it out. I have finer blonde hair so it needs it. Overall, ok. Nails: Well the first time I went I really enjoyed getting a manicure and pedicure. The manicure was done out in the main salon and the pedi was done in a little room with just two spa chairs so it was perfect for me and my friend. I just got a normal solid color with no design that time. Both girls were very sweet. The next time I went all was the same except that the pedicure room wall had been knocked down, so it's now a bigger room. I thought they were going to add more chairs, but they're not. They're going to put a curtain between the chairs and where the wall was so the other room can be a break room/bridal getting ready room/sitting room. I think that defeats the purpose if knocking down the wall because privacy is lost now in both rooms. The other downer I received in my last visit was that I asked for polka dots on my toes. I'm not exactly how you can screw up making dots, but she did. They were nit only irregular sizes, but they weren't circles. Morale of the story, don't ask for a design. read more

I was lucky to get an appointment with Kim, calling her only a week in advance. Fortunately, she had a cancellation and that was my lucky day. She did a great job, taking her time and asking me many questions about what I wanted. Being that this town is so small, this is the only spa in the area unless you head towards Jacksonville or down to Surf City. I've visted multiple times for mani/pedi's, and when my sister was in town she had her eyebrows waxed. The pedicures are reasonably priced, but just stick with the basic one. They charge you $5 more for a "leg massage" which consisted of the gal rubbing lotion on my legs for about 30 seconds. So, my vote is "yay" for mani/pedi's but I can't speak towards any other services. read more

This review is strictly for the massages as I have not been here for other services. However, the massages are absolutely incredible and I highly recommend to everyone. I have been going to Tammy for the past year and after getting many massages while living in Philly and DC, I still think Tammy gives the best massages I've ever received! The atmosphere is no-fuss, just a quiet little space in the back of the salon. But with the music and lighting it's so easy to relax and enjoy your massage. I've been here 2x to get my hair cut. When I say cut I mean trimmed because I hate getting my hair cut to begin with and it's pretty hard to mess up a trim. The first time I came here I walked in & had someone, I think Andrea?..everyone was very nice and she did a great job with the trim, only cut off an inch or so and really kept it similar to how I already had it. Going with that experience, I recently made an appointment but I did not request Andrea so I got someone else (this person never introduced herself so I honestly can't say who it was). I got possibly the **worst haircut of my life.** I asked for a trim, she cut off over 3 inches of my hair, it is uneven (literally my hair is random lengths in different places) and I asked her to angle in the front of my hair and it just looks horrible. Not only the bad haircut but the people were rude to me when I first walked in & the hairdresser herself was very cold towards me. I will never be going back to this place. I found someone else who can fix my hair (thankfully) but I'll never get my 3 inches back. read more

The hair has been breaking off because she left the bleach on way to long, and Laura knew this. How about some conditioning treatments, or my miney back? She just wanted to add more color. Why add more color when it's already fried? Then she makes it out like I'm the bad guy for not being happy & having to ask for my miney back, considering nothing was done to help fix it! Rude! So i recently moved to the area in the fall and have been going to this spa for my waxes. I've been there a handful of times. Last week I called to book my next appt and there were no openings until the following Friday. The only appt available was late morning. I went ahead and booked it. Today I stopped work and rescheduled my appts so I could have an hour to get this done. When I showed up it was packed and the lady scheduled to do my waxing was cutting and coloring someone's hair. I asked how long it would be and she said at least a half hour. Why book me for this time then? It seemed as though they didn't have any respect for my time or service. This is tough so I am going to break my review into two: nails and hair/makeup. I was in Topsail last week for my wedding. With my wedding taking place on Thursday, 6 of us went to that salon for nail appointments on Wednesday. All of us asked for gel nails except for 1, who wanted a simple manicure. By the time of my wedding, 2 girls had nails that had peeled, 2 girls had gone back in to get some replaced and ALL of my fell had peeled by Friday evening. The simple manicure is the only thing that lasted. Day 7- please stop doing gel nails- you do not have the appropriate equipment nor are you qualified. Even one of their tech's sent my step daughters to BAB's, a salon up the road...and theirs look amazing...so, take the advice of the employees of Day 7 and go elsewhere. Hair and makeup-even after the nail disaster, I didn't have an option but to go for hair and make up. I was pleasantly surprised...my hair was absolutely amazing and perfect along with simple and natural makeup!!! Moral of the story- nails at BAB's, hair and makeup at day 7. Please stop trying to accommodate services you are clearly not qualified for!!! It's disappointing and for someone walking into the most important day of their life, stressful and kind of crappy. read more

Nice place. A bit busy waiting with the hair salon right there so when you go in you don't feel the relaxation. Toilet needs attention stat as I decided to go when asked. Who wants to have to pee mid massage! I don't want to see splatter inside the rim at the spa! Tammie was great however! She was knowledgeable and attentive. She took special care to my concerns. My husband and I are on vacation in Topsail Island & signed up for a Couple's Massage to celebrate our anniversary. The spa itself is a beachy little place; no frills, nothing fancy, but cute and it matches the personality of the area. My massage therapist was Lu and I *cannot* recommend her enough! She did a fantastic job! From the heated towels to the warm lotion, from the scalp massage to the foot massage, everything was absolutely PERFECT, It felt like I was in heaven! Please do NOT go here to get your nails done, unless you're simply looking for good company-- the girls working there were overall very sweet and easy to chat with-- or to spend an hour or so in a well-decorated salon space -- it is very open and clean. I went here with a bridal party so we could get manis and pedis for the big day. Not one of the 7 of us left with both our hands and feet done well. (Some of the girls paid $50 and ended up with both looking a mess!) Nail polish was just thrown on fairly carelessly. We had to pick color and top coat off our cuticles after we left. They missed spots. The polish wasn't applied smoothly. It really looked like my little niece had painted them for me. Even the bride who had acrylic nails done had issues. Her cuticles were not treated and the polish was already starting to wear off the next afternoon, which was her wedding day. Again, although the girls were extremely nice, they did not seem qualified to do the work. Maybe if I had been there on my own I would have had a better experience, but I cannot recommend going there with a group. They were unable to do good, thorough work on any of us. read more

What can you expect in a "shrimping town." Went for blonde, ended up with orange (and a ruined/stained 50 dollar black sweater from Macys). After paying 70 bucks the first time, I paid again for a deep conditioning and a "re-attempt" at coloring. I left with partially blonde and streaks of silverish/grey (didnt even rinse the toner out) !?!?! Returned a third time requesting a partial refund or something to make me feel like this was just a fluke and not how DAY 7 operates. (Word of mouth is everything in a small town). Instead I was belittled and yelled at. Amateur stylists with business management skills equivalent to a Phoenix Online business graduate. Agree with Angelina W- not even worth one star. Most likely funded by a rich husband or divorce settlement -- not by a strong client base. read more

I was staying in Top Sail for a few weeks and needed to get a Brazilian wax. I called in and they said they could accommodate walk in which was awesome. Other reviews have mentioned how the reception was not there or they were ignored and I had a similar experience. The receptionist just played on her phone while a stylist working behind her talked to me. The room where they did the Brazilian wax was odd, kind of an office. It had a camera in it which I asked about and they assured me was disconnected. .. still weird. The actual wax was probably the strangest I'd ever gotten. The woman used drug store type talc powder as a prewax application. The the hard wax wouldn't get hard and therefore was pretty painful when being ripped off. The worst part was that she seemed afraid to touch me and wouldn't hold the skin taught which only made the pain worse. The whole experience was one handed. Then at the end I was left with a TON of bubblegum consistency wax all over that took two showers and using my own personal oils to remove. Overall I won't be back for waxing. read more

Everyone at the salon was friendly and professional. I couldn't have been happier with how my hair and make-up turned out. I felt like the stylists really listened to what I wanted. Seriously have never received worse service in all of my life. I came in for a 1:30 appointment and had to wait 50 minutes to be seen because my hair dresser was running behind. I was getting a color done. When I finally was seen and had shown the lady what I wanted, she said she didn't like it. The color contrast was too much and insisted it would look better her way. I trusted her professional word and my hair came out barely changed. I got my hair done on a Saturday and today is the following Wednesday and I went to lift up my hair to tease it a little and I see ROOTS. She didn't get all of my hair dyed properly. First off, she told me the hair dye she put in would only be in for 45 minutes. She sat me in a chair and left me for an hour and twenty minutes to deal with another customer. No one asked how I was doing or if I needed anything. My hair dresser never even asked me anything the little time she actually dealt with me. I'm used to hair dressers that talk to you and make you feel welcomed and comfortable! She did not make me feel either. I was also supposed to get a trim but because she was running so behind we did not have time for it or she simply just ignored that's what I requested over the phone. I was there from 1:30pm-4:20pm. So much time was spent sitting in a chair, uncomfortable and alone in a corner. I paid $50 for a horrible hair job. Safe to say that was a waste and I will never be back there again! read more

Day 7 doesn't even deserve one star. I had an appointment there, and arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, as is customary (and even required at some salons.) Not one person working there greeted me. I stood for several minutes at the front desk (no one was at the front desk) while not one person even attempted to recognize the fact that a customer had entered or make a move to serve me. Surely someone could have said "Hello! Welcome to Day 7! I'll be with you soon" or something! Eventually a hairstylist finished with her client, and they came to the front desk. Other than being asked by the client to move over, I was still ignored! Finally, I left. Going to the salon should be a relaxing experience and clients expect to be treated respectfully. Since I was unable to get any of the staff to talk to me in person, I called the salon to cancel my appointment. The woman I spoke with could not have cared less. If you are looking for customer service, find somewhere else to go! I wouldn't be surprised to see this salon in an episode of Tabatha's Salon Takeover! read more

I really didn't want to give this salon a 1 since my hairstylist was so sweet, but I feel like I can't give it anything but that. I booked an appointment for a haircut and eyebrow wax. My stylist did both and like I said, she was super sweet, but she also waxed half of my eyebrow off... and left the other one almost intact. The other stylist working initially had greeted me at the front desk but was super rude. I guess they don't have a receptionist since both stylists kept dropping everything and running to the front desk to answer the phone. While I was getting my hair hacked, the other stylist also started a yelling match on the phone with some company, which I thought was not only unprofessional but really rude. I had told my stylist that I wanted layers which she did by randomly grabbing LARGE chucks of hair and cutting away. I also had said that she should just blow dry my hair out straight since that's the direction it usually goes in anyways and she ended up curling the ends into a 1940's style bob. Ugh... read more
