A little, local birdie told me that Mark's has the best doughnuts in the 501! I may have…read moreimmediately screamed, "BLASPHEMY," citing the fact that Shipley's Donuts is also located in the 501! Well, I put them to the test and (sure enough) Mark's is running neck and neck, maybe with an ever-so-slight lead! I can't believe I'm uttering the words. The doughnuts were still pillowy and super fresh at 10AM-- That's one hour before closing, folks! I tried a twist (two of them actually) and a raspberry filled doughnut (and I usually hate anything-filled doughnuts--unless it's at Sweet Theory Baking Co. in Jax, FL), but I had to find out if I could be converted into a casual jelly-filled doughnut eater. If I could, this might be the place. Nope! Still not a fan, but it was good! I've got to (one day) wake up and drag myself in to find out how the 5:30AM doughnuts taste. I'm sure it's everything I'd ever want to imagine in Doughnut heaven. The location is small, the sign is faded (so much so that I passed right by with GPS, and had to pop a U-ey), but the product is LEGIT! Stop by (before 11) and get a load of the GOODNESS! Thank me later.

I heard their coconut donut is great. Not open on Sundays so keep that in mind if you are thinking about going. There is seating inside. Staff was friendly. Quick service. Glad we finally tried it.

If you are looking for a futuristic, socially-distanced sugar rush, this is your spot. Walking into…read moreSugar Llama is a bit of a trip, it is impeccably clean and smells exactly like a nostalgic carnival, but the atmosphere is eerily quiet. Despite the sweet aroma, there was absolutely no one else in the restaurant, and the staff member present didn't even offer a greeting. You essentially order and pay via a small tablet kiosk tucked off to the side, meaning you can get through your entire visit with zero human interaction. The Price of Convenience We have to talk about the pricing because some of it is truly jarring. $3.19 for a single can of soda is, quite frankly, unacceptable under any circumstances. It is definitely a "convenience tax" taken to the extreme. The mini donuts are priced in tiers: 1 - $1.19 4 - $3.99 6 - $5.59 12 - $9.96 16 - $11.99 25 - $17.69 100 - $52.89 The Donuts As far as service speed goes, they are lightning-fast. We ordered 16 donuts in four different flavors, and the entire box was ready in just five minutes. We sampled the Cinnamon Roll, Strawberry, Cotton Candy, and Turtle. Every single one of them was objectively good. While these aren't necessarily "life-changing" donuts that will haunt your dreams, they are solid, tasty treats. If you are in the mood to try something new and don't mind the kiosk-style service (or the expensive soda), it is certainly worth a visit.

I was a customer of Dempsey Bakery for years. I always told people how wonderful their products…read morewere. You couldn't even tell the difference between gluten free and regular food. After not having been there since before covid, I went back yesterday. I noticed the remodel and saw the lack of a case featuring cakes and other sweets. OK - I thought as long as it still tastes the same. I heard an employee tell another customer that the same family still owned it. I got my old favorite -- lemon blueberry tea cake and a cupcake with coconut and caramel topping the icing. My sister who has celiac bought several soups, many pieces of cheesecake, an individual lemon pie, cookies and more. She took a bite of the little pie as soon as we got in the car -- let me tell you it was awful. The lemon did not taste at all lemony. It tasted mostly of chemicals. When I got home, I ate the cupcake and the cupcake itself was dry and barely edible. The frosting was some unknown concoction that tasted of chemicals also. My sister told me this morning that she ate more stuff when she got home and she has been sick all night and still today. I googled Dempsey and it says that Paula Dempsey sold the bakery to Friendly Bakery. They did the remodel and I am assuming the food was also "remodeled." I'm sure it was a "money" thing because that is what big business always does -- look at the bottom line. I am so disappointed. I used to go there for lunch when I worked downtown but I know for sure, I won't be going back. I did not select "service" or "ambiance" as noted above. I didn't find anything wrong with either. It was the chemical taste of the food and the lack of freshness that I am upset about.

Great 100% gluten free bakery. Celiac safe. Staff are very knowledgeable. They offer lunch (maybe…read morebreakfast as well?) and have seating in case you want to stay and eat your meal or gluten free goodies! Adequate parking nearby. Great gluten free find.
