I had a leaky roof three years ago with attic water damage in my bathroom ceiling. After thoroughly investigating my attic, Pete took the time to explain to me about my attic situation and the little mold that was there, and then discuss my options, giving pros and cons for each way I could proceed. No hard sell. Just down to earth procedures and recommendations. I was able to make an informed decision about how to proceed. Fixing the damage will be a very small job and Pete gave me the name of another reliable company that could handle it well. He wouldn't even charge me for the assessment though I would have been delighted to pay for their time and expertise! A very positive experience.

He promised that he would be able to salvage my new carpet and when they failed. Jeff refused his crew to remove it days later after mold and mildew smell started in. My insurance agent said the carpet was unsalvagable and to remove it. QUEST refused to do so and when confronted how inadequate of a job they did, Quest notified their lawyers to harasse me for full payment of 6,500.00! In the lawyers letter, Jeff made false statements. When I contacted the lawyer to speak with the owners of Quest, they refused to listen to me the customer and demanded payment. I felt bullied and belittled since I am a female by Jeff after he laughed in my face and smirked how wrong he thought I was. When I asked a male neighbor to explain to Jeff how my basement smelled because of the moldy carpet and he could see wet spots where heavy furniture was, Jeff knew he was wrong and left telling the other worker to pull fans out of my basement that they were done! My basement read out at 70 percent humidity STILL after several weeks. At one point, I was promised the smell would go away after shampooing the carpet. I said I didn't think so but allowed them to "try" and stating if it still smelled, I needed it out due to health risk to my asthmatic 3 yr old. QUEST did not care or listen to my request leaving me pull out 1200 square foot carpeting that was a year old by myself and I had to hire someone else to dispose of it. Yet, they demand full price! I NEVER even had my plumbing friend bill them for the use of his trash pump and for him losing customer business that evening after we asked several times if they could find more pumps so he could go pump other clients basements, but QUEST couldn't get any more pumps since they took on too many jobs that evening. My plumbing friend lost business and money that night because of Quest lack of service. Shame on the owners for not wanting to hear the truth and are so creed that in the end, they want money not a customer to feel heard and satisfied. They demanded 1000.00 that night and in my distress I never listened to my gut when it said this doesn't feel right. I have had four basement floodings and not once had I had a restoration company ask for money before they would help. Big clue!

But I had trouble with them from the moment they started work and just could not get them to make right the problems they caused. I was highly disappointed in how they took care of my property- underselling the disruption it would cause. They also did not explain any of the equipment well enough ahead of time and gave mixed information about warranties. There was no care for making what they did look good. and I had to ask them numerous time to come back and do what they told me they would do. After numerous trips, it was still done poorly. multiple doors no longer close. I will have to replace flooring in the entire basement, they did not consult with me on locations for the humidex or the sump pump making plans to add a bathroom more difficult. In Reading the Manuel for the humidex it appears they did not properly install it. Perhaps I just had bad luck as no one else seemed to have these same problems, but this has been a very expensive headache.

He came out and repaired a section of roof and said he guaranteed the work 100%. I was satisfied with the work so I had him work on a second property for me a couple weeks later. He seem to do a good job and sent me pictures of everything he did. I had my drywaller start to repair inside from what the leaky roof damaged. It rained one evening and the repaired roof leaked onto the new drywall. I have tried getting a hold of Cody at Catalina construction since the middle of August until even today. I've called no less than 20 times.I have called 3 different numbers, texted, and emailed the company's email address and had no response from him. My drywaller can't finish the project until the roof is repaired properly. I don't want to pay someone else to fix the job that he guaranteed 100%. I guess he's good if he fixes it right the first time but if you need him to come back out, good luck.

When he got his carpet installed he was lucky he was home and asked about the padding and that it didn't seem like the right kind. They reassured him it was and had it stapled down and ready to put the carpet down. Long behold after he did some investigating it was in fact a cheaper padding that what he ordered. If he was not home they would have got away with it. Once called out they drove back and installed the right padded. back to my experience. Calling them back recently I asked about the carpet in my basement being finished off. I know that the color batch might not be exact, but I wasn't too worried about that. He said he would call me back after he found my order. No problem. Calls me back and says that the carpet is no longer being manufactured and that he can't get it. They only make carpet for 2 years sometimes and this one is not available anymore. I then called back a couple hours later and asked for the style, color and manufacturer. I had a feeling something was up. He called me back and gave me the information. I called a few other stored and looked it up online with no issues. Both stored called back and said it was easily obtainable through Mohawk. At this point if I would have took his word for it I would have been looking at different way more expensive ways to finish off my basement. I Called them back and asked what the deal was and they said that it wasn't on their price list and that they have a competitors carpet they use instead now. He then said it was available. so i said lets order it and he then stated we don't want the job. simply state that in the first place if you don't want to deal with me. As a small business you think keeping a good reputation with the community would be one of your key objective. Not these guys. I would 100% recommend any other business over Genoa Custom Interiors.
