I have experienced nothing but professionalism and top of the line dentistry here at DC Light dental. While visiting a dental office is typically nerve wrecking Dr. Lee provides such a warm and friendly environment that you almost forget you are getting work done on your teeth. All of the staff members are professional and kind as well. they are like family at this point. I always leave satisfied and they always go above and beyond to ensure the perfect smile experience. They will punt you from person to person, they will rush your procedure, and when I expressed my concern that the dental assistant didn't do as she was asked by the dentist, they didn't do anything to make it right. Dr Lee is a great dentist. He can do any thing with filler. I appreciate that their office sends notices of upcoming 'appointments due' to my email. What's not 'ok' here: the receptionist staff taking too long to cash me out although I appreciate that one of them one time was waiting in the lobby to let me up at time of building opening; the dental assistant not yielding on the air machine and keeping it going on my teeth constantly even after I did a hand sign to stop. Dr Lee really does need to flip his staff and make sure his best patients are taken care of -however they want. Unfortunately the 2 stars given to this practice is due to mostly others and not Dr Lee or the other dentists themselves. read more

I was super delayed in going in for a cleaning, partly because my dentist of 10+ years was no longer covered by my insurance and I had to find a new one. This place had decent reviews and was somewhat close by my office. First and foremost, this place feels like a business and not a medical office. They told me I had to have two cleaning sessions because my teeth were in such bad shape. Yes I was delayed in going, and my teeth were probably not in the best shape, but my sketch antenna went straight up. Then after I asked how much more out of pocket I'd have to pay, one person (I'm not sure who it was), said it'd be around $20 and that it would be a good deal because it was less than others would have to pay. Uh what? They then told me I'd need a cleaning every four months (literally, never had I been told that). As I was leaving, I mentioned I'd be switching jobs in a few months and they then perked up and said something like oh that means you get an extra cleaning so we should schedule you for one in a few months. On the plus side, the place is clean and they have new technology (so one star for that). The worst part was after. They made a mistake in submitting a claim form and they never received a payment from the insurance. It was a long drawn out process to resolve this. I tried my best to sort it out with the insurance to fix this issue, though the insurance company later told me I really did not need to be involved. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience, I received bill after bill stating this amount had not been paid and despite them knowing about the issue (also, they never sent notice they never received the payment ever, just a new bill). read more

I found my dentist! In the midst of COVID my insurance changed and I needed a new dentist- and finding one that was clean, nice, and took Covid precautions was actually very difficult. But I'm so happy to have found DC Light Dental. It feels more like a spa experience when you arrive and everyone is welcoming. They have extra Covid precautions to protect both us and them including double masking and air filters everywhere. They also are very timely and my teeth have never felt better. They didn't try to upcharge and in fact give you fluoride for free (normally I get offered this for an extra $40). read more

I have been going to this practice for several years and have spent thousands here. Dr. Lee is an excellent dentist. The front desk staff is another story. I recently called and left a voicemail stating I would be unable to make a recent appointment and was charged a $50 late/ no show fee. I understand why various policies are in place for business purposes, but it makes 0 sense to force a no-show fee on a longstanding customer, especially when they left a voicemail. read more

I went to DC Light Dental a few times. The first time, I was told to come back every 4 months. I'm sure they knew that my insurance would only cover two cleanings a year and it's pretty shady to ask someone to pay out of pocket without a good reason--I didn't have a cavity or any other issues. The dentist barely looked at my teeth during each exam and they have a lousy cancellation policy. I tried to cancel because I was home sick, and they wanted to charge a $50 fee. I guess they want sick patients to come in and spread germs? Gross. I transferred to a new dentist and didn't look back. read more

I am new to the area and read some positive reviews about this dentist so I decided to try it out. Unfortunately, I cannot report on the dental services because the office never had adequate staffing to go forward with my scheduled appointments. My first appointment was cancelled the day of just hours before because of a hygienist emergency. I understand if there is an emergency once, though I was surprised that there wasn't another hygienist working that day. I rescheduled for the following week and my second dental appointment was also cancelled the day of just hours before because the dentist was not in the office that day. I only received the message after I left work and was walking to the appointment, which said "Dr. Lee is not in the office so your appointment is . . . uh . . . not going to happen. You can call back to reschedule if you want." No apology whatsoever, which would have at least been slightly more professional considering the obvious inconvenience cancelling two appointments would cause to a patient (i.e., I took two afternoons off of work to make it to these phantom appointments). I will most certainly be finding a different, hopefully more reliable, dentist. read more

After reading all the reviews, I was excited to have my first cleaning at DC Light Dental. I love going to the dentist, but have had a hard time finding one I really like in this area. I can say that this is definitely going on the "meh" list. I was sadly disappointed in my experience. First, the office is a bit of a hassle to get into because there are plenty of 1331 Penn entrances, that it ends up being quite a maze to get to the actual office. Once I finally arrived, on time, I still had to wait 20-25 minutes to be seen. My appointment was at 8:30 in the morning, and I was just surprised I had to wait so long. The hygenist took me back to do some x-rays, all fine. During the cleaning , I found her to just be pushy. I am pretty sure she has family who works for Sonicare toothbrushes. If she told me one more time that I needed to go buy this $200 toothbrush, I was going to scream. She was very rough on my gums, and I have never been so harshly criticized before. I brush/floss/rinse daily and take good care of my teeth, and I was talked to like I never use a toothbrush. I just did not really enjoy this. When Dr. Lee came in, he asked me three times if my last dentist mentioned anything about previous x-rays. He just wouldn't believe me! It really annoyed me and rubbed me the wrong way. That's all the interaction I really had with him. Not really sure about other reviews of how personable he is because all I got was the same question over and over again. Overall, I just did not like this place. It may be for some people, but I am definitely not going back. read more

I completely second everything the first person said about Dr. Lee. I had to get a few fillings and he was very careful about making sure I was comfortable and not making me feel bad for being a wimp. I previously went to this office when it was Dr. Hoffman, so I can say that it's vastly improved maintenance-wise. The reconstruction of the office was completed under Dr. Lee and it's looks much better and is very clean. The front desk staff are friendly enough and I also had a very nice hygenist while I was there. Overall, it's a great office, a trustworthy dentist and I would recommend them to anyone. So first I had the younger dentist who was really good, explain all about the crown I needed to get and what it means. Then I had an appointment with Dr. Lee, I came in and had to wait for about 45 min. and left because I had to go back to work. He called and apologized! Have you ever had a dentist/doctor apologize before? That upped him in my book. Then he does good work, he's very nice, asking if you're OK, which is important because it's not like you can speak when he's workin' on your teeth. The dental hygeniest is also very good - she recommended this toothbrush to me that she said would make my teeth feel as smooth as they did when I left her, and it does! I'm sold on them. Parking is a bit hard to find, better to take the metro but other than that they will definitely be my new dentist. read more

YES! Dr. Lee is in DC now! I've been seeing Dr. Lee for a few years since my last dentist retired. After moving to DC in 2007, I still made the trip all the way down to Woodbridge, VA to see him. A couple weeks ago I got a call because I was due for a checkup and found out all I had to do is take the bus down 14th Street to his new location! I love going to Dr. Lee because he's always friendly, makes sure you're comfortable during the procedures, keeps a very clean office, has the latest technology (even TVs at each chair), and has done great work on my fillings, root canals, and some cosmetic stuff. I've only been to the new DC office a few times, but the staff seemed pretty nice. I've also had a cleaning with one of the hygienists, Tanera Hutz, and she was also very good. NOTE: In searching for this listing on Yelp, I discovered this practice was previously owned by a very unpopular Dr. Hoffman. Apparently he retired, so make sure any reviews for this location are for Dr. Lee and not the old dentist. read more

I started going to see Dr. Lee when I worked near his Pennsylvania Ave. offices-he was the highest rated dentist in the area on Yelp. Now I work over in Dupont, and I still wouldn't switch to anyone closer for fear they wouldn't measure up to Dr. Lee. The office is in the National Press building. It is clean, bright and all of the equipment appears to be very modern. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and I am rarely kept waiting for my appointment to begin. I think my insurance has changed twice since I became a patient, and it's never been an issue. They send text message reminders of your appointments the day before, which is great. Dr. Lee himself is compassionate, humorous and sets you at ease. He clearly has a great rapport with his staff, both the receptionists and hygienists. He is patient and delivers his feedback and recommendations in plain English. I have never felt he has recommended any unnecessary dental work. Besides regular cleanings for the past few years, I have had two fillings done with him, and they were painless. I actually had fun conversing with him and his assistant during both procedures. The only bad thing I can say is, he did refer me to an oral surgeon to have my wisdom teeth removed, and his staff forgot to forward my x-rays after I specifically made the request by phone. They sent them right over when I called from the oral surgeon's office (I was only there for a consultation; no big deal) and Dr. Lee himself called me back promptly, per my request. I explained what happened, and he was very respectful and said he would take care of it. I can't trumpet this guy enough. My last dentist was a kind older man with an outdated office in Dupont who performed a nightmarish tooth extraction on me. So glad I found Dr. Lee. read more

I just received a birthday email from them. wtf. Standard email as it is, a dentist should not care this much. But they do! I went to them a few months back after having a horrible experience trying to book with another dentist. I saw the great reviews here, and easily made an appointment (picked up on the first ring!) with the receptionist who was kind, smart, and very detailed. I waited for a while, maybe 20 min or so when I got there. Dr. Lee came out and apologized and said the DA would be with me shortly. I was missing work, but whatever, it's been years since my last cleaning. I told the DA that, she laughed and said she would give me an extra thorough cleaning. Dr. Lee came by, put a few finishing touches. He told me about a few small cavities that I have, one I knew about and a few more that were "on watch." I didn't want to deal with it, so I told him maybe next time. I was later escorted to the front desk (after a free toothbrush, travel-sized toothpaste, and floss). Dr. Lee even told me I had small cavities, but with the proper care I didn't need to have them filled. They also don't charge for fluoride! I wish I had the same experience as others who left great reviews for this practice, but I unfortunately can't will myself to return. I gave up after the second time I came in for a routine teeth cleaning, which resulted in me vomiting about 10 minutes afterward. The dental hygienist that did my cleaning seemed oddly vindictive about the fact that I had pretty clean teeth, and particularly that they were clean around my permanent retainer. I thought that odd, since I normally like to receive praise for successfully keeping my teeth clean. I guess she was on an apparent mission to make my gums bleed. I've had a lot of cleanings in my day (I'm a regular twice-a-year kinda person), but none as harrowing as this. I would understand if I hadn't touched my teeth with floss in over a year, but that is not the case; I floss daily, and well. To top it off, I'm pretty sure she did a poor job at vacuuming up any excess liquids and fluoride, likely leading to my nausea and subsequent ralfing after the visit. My first visit here wasn't much better, thanks to the same hygienist-with-bloodlust working on me, but I did spend time with the actual dentist, who was decent. Long story short, I don't feel that I should have to leave any dental offices vomiting or feeling orally violated unless I'm having a surgery. I definitely did with this one. It's unfortunate because it's very close to my work, but I have since switched offices elsewhere in town. read more

Unfortunately I am being forced to leave due to letting the office know I tested positive for covid and trying to reschedule my routine dental cleaning after the contagious period has passed. They insisted I have to have a negative test before returning. I offered to schedule a month after the CDC recommended 10-14 days, but they said "due to dental hygienists being uncomfortable" they would not see me again without a negative covid test. I let them know this retesting is not recommended by my primary care doctor nor would it be reimbursed as it is not considered medically necessary. It is appalling to me that refusal of care due to "feeling uncomfortable" and not scientific evidence is allowed to take place along with making medical recommendations not supported by medical evidence. Dr. Lee has been my dentist for over 11 years and I have really liked his and his staffs care, but I will be transferring. I am a nurse and I cannot fathom refusing someone care because in the past they have had an infectious disease that is now considered by all published guidelines, noncontagious. read more

I've recently switched to Dr Lee's practice and I plan to be a client for many years to come. Why? - This practice is committed to exceptional customer service. They are efficient, on time, polite, and highly skilled. You even get a survey afterwards to ensure you were happy with the level of care that you received! - They embrace technology, from the appointment system to preparing crowns. - All their staff take care and are thorough. The hygienist who I saw took a lot of care and time (vs rushing through it) and gave me useful, practical tips. - Dr Lee is gentle and practices quality dentistry with a humble demeanor. I really like the guy alot. - They accept my insurance and are in-network. Woohoo! The only thing to know about this practice is that it's a little hard to get in the building if you're appointment is before 8am. You have to use a separate entrance, so make sure to ask them about this. Otherwise, you have to rely on the kindness of people who work in the building to let you upstairs. If your appointment is after 8am, then just use the regular Penn Ave entrance. read more

"Flossin'" I am highly satisfied with this dentist in the two visits I've had so far. Let me start by saying that I cannot remember the last time I had been to the dentist before this one. I knew that I couldn't keep winging it and ducking that work. So, I mustered up the courage and went to this place that my friend kept insistently recommending, so he could get a free cleaning. (not sure if he ever got it lol). DC Light is efficient and professional. When I've been, they've had about 4 receptionists working, which is rare because a lot of offices would strain 1 or 2 people. On my first visit, they took my x-rays and gave me a rundown of my teeth. They said I keep my teeth very clean, but I have a lot of gum inflammation, especially around the front where I have a permanent retainer. They were going to recommend a deep cleaning (O_O), but determined I would be OK just coming there every 3 months for the first year (thank God!). The first cleaning went well and I left feeling good. I didn't even want to each lunch. They are aggressive because they do a thorough job. On the second visit, I missed my 9:15 appointment. The receptionist was so patient and accommodating to me in rescheduling. Thanks be to God, someone cancelled at 11:30, so I was able to walk back down the same day and get my cleaning done instead of commuting up during my telework day. Customer service FTW! As for the second cleaning, Dr. Jam, brought the heat! She started off being friendly and personable, which is what they always do before they commit attempted murder. She explained how I need to floss harder and actually took the time to recommend the proper floss and demonstrated the correct way to floss. I realized that I have been flossing wrong my entire life (childhood ruined). All in all, I like the dentists and Dr. Lee. The staff is friendly and I'm satisfied thus far. Warning: They clean your teeth very thoroughly. Dr. Jam actually showed me my mouth during the cleaning and it looked like a scene from a horror movie. So if you are a weakling, you may want to think twice if you don't take excellent care of your teeth. read more

I highly recommend this place! I just went in for my first checkup with them and was really pleased. They were nice and gave really great-quality care. The hygienist was skilled and thorough. She was careful and never nicked my gums or anything, but she also put a lot of effort into a really deep cleaning, which was what my teeth and gums really needed after a lapse in checkups. (I worry about those super light cleanings that are designed to make you enjoy the experience more but maybe don't do a good job of actually cleaning your teeth.) The dentist was nice and best of all, not into overkill. The ideal dentist will be judicious, giving you the intervention you need and not what you don't. Not only can over-interventionist dentists be expensive for you, overkill like drilling every tiny proto-cavity every time can be harmful to the integrity of your enamel. This dentist pointed out many places where I could be on my way to getting small cavities, but said let's reevaluate in six months, since better flossing could help. He said his motto is, "Work on it yourself so I don't have to" (i.e., practice good hygiene so you don't need more dramatic dental work). Right on! This place is just what I was looking for: a dental practice that you can trust to do what's best for your teeth. They're nice people, too. Highly recommended! read more

I used to go to Dr. Hoffman here and one day I walked in for a 6 month check up and... Thank Goodness... Dr. Jong Lee moved in and "took over." Turned out I needed new fillings that Dr. Hoffman failed to apply properly so I was pretty bummed out about this both financially and physically. I hate drills solely because of Dr. Hoffman's forceful nature. Dr. Jong Lee on the other hand made it completely painless and very comfortable... all without a shot of novacaine! Dr. Lee is the best dentist in D.C. He in my dental insurance network, he's crazy smart, and he has a wonderful personality. You can't ask for more. I started going to Dr. Lee because my old dentist (Dr. John Hunter) was nice but did not pay attention to detail. I have terrible teeth and Dr. Hunter let a few slide when he should've taken action. You let a cavity slide and it will turn into a root canal. Ignore decay under a crown and you'll need microsurgery or an implant before you know it. I need a cautious but not overly aggressive (i.e. profit-minded) dentist. Enter Dr. Lee. First and foremost, Dr. Lee is incredibly smart. He went to Washington University in St. Louis and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in biochemistry. He then went to the University of Pennsylvania for dental school. Why is this important? Well, when you have teeth as bad and unpredictable as mine, you need someone who can think on his feet, mid-procedure, when something goes awry. Dr. Lee saved one of my teeth (which has a huge post in it) by drilling at the decay from an odd angle, making sure not to break it. He's technically very, very good. I trust his judgment 100%. He's not going to miss something critical on an x-ray. He's not going to overlook office sanitation procedures. He runs that place like a tight ship. Big, big plus in my book. Dr. Lee is also a very nice guy with a wonderful sense of humor. He makes easy conversation and good eye contact. You really get the feeling that he's treating you, the person, and not your tooth. He apologizes before sticking you with the needle, which I think is charming. I've been stuck with needles so many times that I barely notice anymore, but my girlfriend (who also sees him and who hates needles) thought it was really sweet when he said that to her. He also checks in with you mid-procedure, which I love. He wants to make sure you are okay. There is one more thing that you should know about Dr. Lee. I called his office a few weeks ago with a sudden toothache. They squeezed me into his schedule that same day. After evaluating me and determining that I may need a root canal, Dr. Lee got on the phone himself and called his endodontist friend to ask if he could see me. He told me his friend was an excellent dentist and that he wouldn't do the procedure unless it was absolutely necessary. His friend did the root canal, no problemo, and my toothache was treated less than 24 hours after it started. As a parting note, I hope everyone reading the negative reviews appreciates that most of them involve insurance companies, not Dr. Lee. Dental offices routinely call insurance companies for quotes and whatnot, and that's what they base their prices on. But the insurance companies may change their quotes later on, either because the patient met her annual limit or because the insurance company miscalculated the first quote. You shouldn't blame Dr. Lee for that. read more

My insurance was billed in the name of a "Bruce Hoffman," who I see from other reviews used to own this office. I'm not sure why they haven't updated the name of the doctor in the office in years, but it resulted in my claim being treated as out-of-network, even though Dr. Lee is supposedly in the FEDVIP network. In addition, the bill for a cleaning alone was an unbelievable $460. The actual service was ok at best. I waited 20 minutes past my scheduled time to be seen. I was told I had a cavity, but the doctor was very vague about the location even when I asked for clarification (only repeating "upper left"). And I was pressured into scheduling a follow-up with their oral surgeon about my wisdom teeth, despite having been told several times in the past they were fine to leave in. Neither the supposed cavity or my wisdom teeth have ever caused any problems. I don't plan to return after the insurance fiasco, so I'll see what another dentist says in a few months. read more

I just returned from my first teeth cleaning/check-up at DC Light Dental and while it was a routine appointment, I can't recommend them enough! First of all, it was a breeze to set up the appointment. I sent an email on Sunday night and by the time I got to work on Monday, a response was in my inbox for a Wednesday morning appointment and a link to fill out the new patient form. I arrived a few minutes early and the receptionist was friendly and welcoming. The hygienist started my appointment promptly at 8:30am. Both the hygienist and Dr. Lee asked several times during the cleaning and check-up if I was ok, which is really important (as Andrea W pointed out). I set up my next appointment on my way out and realized that I had gotten in and out in under 45 minutes! (Including X-Rays). DC Light Dental gets the full 5 stars for being less than 2 blocks from my office and for offering appointments starting at 7am! Makes going to the dentist a much more enjoyable experience than usual. read more

I got multiple emails and a text to remind me of my appointment. This morning I called to say I would be 10 minutes late(thanks metro) expecting some push back/a fine, and the receptionist was nice and accommodating. The staff was completely understanding. My hygienist is gentle and does a great, thorough job. She reminds me to floss without a stern lecture, and does a good job with cleaning my teeth and not leaving me with a sore mouth. Okay, I really wanted to like this dentist office, but after three visits and two cancelled appointments, I have to say that my experience with this dental office leaves a lot to be desired. First and foremost, why are they closed on Friday and why do they close at 4PM? Good luck if you have a dental procedure on Thursday and something goes wrong after 4PM on Thursday (my situation)....Then you have to wait at least 3 days before you can see someone. In my experience thus far, appointment booking and hours of operation are a bit problematic if you don't live within an earshot of this place (I live in Columbia Heights, but work in Maryland). Perhaps if they worked 5 days a week they could give their patients the time and attention that they deserve. I personally think Dr. Lee is a very nice, pleasant dentist, that does his very best to make sure you are comfortable during your procedures. However, today before I got my crown placed, I got the feeling that he was rushed because they had too many appointments at 7AM. While I appreciated them squeezing me in from my previous day cancellation, I would have preferred a later appointment where the job could have gotten done correctly. Now it's Thursday evening, the crown in my mouth is ill-fitted, it's giving me a headache, I have to go back for a 4th time to get this fixed, and I have to wait until Monday! Overall, if you work downtown in the district, this might be a good place for you. However, beware if you have to commute some distance from work to get there for an afternoon appointment....they may call you 20 minutes before your appointment and cancel on you because of a sick hygienist or something (happened to me). read more

I've been going to Dr. Lee for over two years now and have had a great experience. He's really nice and honest and answers anything you ask him. Takkai has always been my hygenist and she does a wonderful and thorough job, not to mention the fact that she's really pleasant. Everyone else in the office is nice as well, I had a problem w/ my insurance coverage recently and they were very helpful in assisting me w/ taking care of it. His compassionate approach to dentistry, his kind, low-key demeanor, and his patience with my various dentistry-related neuroses create tremendous client trust. I am someone who used to avoid dentists. All of them made me anxious and fearful. I was able to find out a lot of information online that fit my search parameters, which is how I found Dr. Lee. The first appointment, he listened to why I found dentistry so panic-inducing. He didn't mock me, or try to talk me out of my apprehension. He listened and was empathetic. This is by far the best dentist office I have ever been to. They got me in for a cleaning much quicker than other dentists could and the appointment started right on time. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming - from the front desk to the dentist himself. The dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth was amazing and did a very thorough job. She also gave me tips on how to handle some gum inflammation I've been dealing with for quite a well that other dentists couldn't seem to fix. All around great, only good things to say, would definitely recommend to people for a cleaning and/ or fillings. Knowledgable and nice dental hygienists, dentist, and front desk staff with good bed-side manor. I got a normal check-up/ cleaning and had a cracked filling replaced. They were willing to take in a new patient and with a quick turn around. They also got me in quickly for the filling fix, which I was thankful for because it was causing me pain. Everyone in the office felt like they were trying to connect with me, and make me feel comfortable. You don't get that at every office, making me feel like it was above and beyond just being a good office. The dentist was really patient with me when I got my filling, and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Lee is certainly personable and well-qualified. However. it took me more than 6-months to get an upper bridge and I wasn't particularly pleased with the final result. He kept telling me that he didn't like the impressions that were taken, so they were repeated many times. In addition, his receptionist (at the time) was not particularly customer-oriented. Wonderful. Night and day compared all of my past dentist experiences. Long story short, I would (and do) recommend them to friends, family and co-workers. I began treatment when I was a short walk away, but I now to take metro into the city from Rosslyn to continue with DC Light Dental. For reference, my dentist here is Dr. Lee, and my hygienist is Ms. Phouminh. First and foremost, Dr. Lee and Ms. Phouminh have been kind, gentle, patient and understanding. As someone with embarrassingly intense anxiety about going to the dentist, this has been so critical. Due to unusual nerve structure in my face, I take a lot more novocaine to be numb than the average person. (We're talking a LOT - multiple jabs, the big thing that looks like a hot glue gun, the works - sometimes even for a regular filling.) Dr. Lee was totally understanding - he was very thorough in making sure that I was numb before my procedures, and checked in throughout to make sure I was okay and not feeling any pain. Even small fillings can be an ordeal for me, and Dr. Lee put in a very large filling with no pain and barely anything that I would even call "discomfort". Dr. Lee was also very good about explaining my problems and my procedures. Especially with my anxiety, it was really helpful to know the details about where he was going to inject the novocaine, why that would work better than alternative methods, and so on. I pride myself on being an informed patient, and Dr. Lee was happy to answer questions at a level of detail that I assume a lot of people don't get in to. I pointed out something random on my x-ray, and he gave me a quick but thorough explanation of what it was, and why it looked the way it did. The next great thing is that, despite coming in with a mouthful of crowns and severe gum disease (that my previous dentist didn't even notice - after a dozen or more appointments!), I never felt judged nor was I made to feel stupid. Dr. Lee and Ms. Phouminh explained what my problems were and what I needed to do differently to fix them because they genuinely want me to be happier and have healthier teeth. With anything less than the best care, I would have continued to be a cash cow for them, but they've instead earned a patient for life by actually giving a d*** and treating me like a person. I've mentioned Ms. Phouminh a lot, because, unlike at any other office where I've been a patient, my hygienist has been extremely knowledgable and a big part of my treatment! She has been the point person in treating my gum disease, and has showed me very specific techniques in brushing and flossing to reach the areas that had the worst plaque. The extra cleaning involved for gum disease is (initially) very uncomfortable, but she was as gentle as possible, and checked in with me constantly to make sure I was doing okay. Since I started with DC Light Dental, my gum disease has gone from severe to nearly gone, with no small thanks to Ms. Phouminh. read more

A little over a year ago a friend recommended Dr. Lee to look at my impacted wisdom tooth that cracked. My dental didn't have an oral surgeon so I went DC Light and even though the waiting area was full, I was signed in and called at my appt time. Dr. Lee was thorough and put me at ease w/my concerns. The staff was very helpful w/my paperwork and aftercare appt. They have early morning appts, too which is great because I work in the area. read more

Dr. Lee is very nice but I do not find him or the practice in any way trustworthy. In addition to my experience, four co-workers had the same experience of being told we had a lot of cavities and painful treatments that turned out to be unnecessary (we all work in the same building complex as the practice). Dr. Lee claimed I had two cavities, when I went to have them filled, he filled four, and filled one so deeply my tooth cracked above the cavity. I had to have a root canal and get a crown on that tooth. A co-worker was told she had seven cavities, despite never having a cavity in her life, and when she requested a second opinion from a dentist outside the practice, was told she didn't have any. I have reported the practice to the American Dental Association, and firmly believe that they are scamming people for insurance. I would strongly avoid this practice. read more

Very good. They take insurance, are very responsive answering phone, email, etc. Often I go there and the dentist doesn't find anything wrong which is refreshing. Many dentists seem to always find something wrong to make more $$$. Highly recommended!!! read more
