The person I spoke with was very nice and showed me exactly how to work everything. Totally beats the highway-robbery prices for laundry at a hotel--for the price a hotel charges for a pair of pants, you get a whole load done.
There are two options:
The first is to do it yourself. The washers use tokens, which you buy for €5.00 from the vending machines. The dryers use €1.00 coins. There are directions in English and Dutch up on the wall behind the washers. There is an Albert Heijn store on Frederiksplein 1 a few blocks away if the dispenser for soap is broken.
The second is to let the owners do it. They come in and out of the shop on a regular basis to check on the progress of the loads, so wait until one of them shows up, tell them what you would like to have done, and give them money. They use the same machines that their customers use, sort by color, and provide soap, fabric softener, etc. They will also use your soap or fabric softener if you require scent-free stuff, etc.
