This is one of the world's shortest ferry journeys as it's about four minutes each way. The world's shortest ferry line is the Ferry Lina in Töreboda, Sweden. It takes around 20-25 seconds and is hand powered. A car with two people return is £16. The staff are very friendly, you pay aboard, we used a card on a phone and while it's roll on - roll off for vehicles it also takes foot passengers. It was very busy both ways, it holds around 25 cars and some motorcycles and it goes from Strangford where we approached it on the hour and half hour and from Portaferry quarter to and quarter past the hour.

I don't think it has changed at all since I was a child…read more It's basically a very small car ferry which travels back and forward across Strangford Lough between Portaferry and Strangford. The journey is slow and relaxed and as you're only going a very short distance across the Lough (less than a mile) it only takes about 10 minutes. The ferry runs every half hour every day except Christmas Day, except when the weather is too stormy. You drive your car up a little ramp and leave it parked on the small deck. It costs just over a fiver to go across one way and on a sunny day you get a fabulous view of the Lough and the coast line on both sides. Travelling across Strangford by ferry is such a novelty, both adults and kids will love it and if you're cutting across the Lough for practical reasons rather than driving round, you'll save over an hour and 75 miles on your journey.

Luckily there is generally always a staff member available on site but that's as far as the facilities go here lol The trains generally run on time but the car park fills up very early so you need to be on the ball to get a space. All in all this is a well kept and run train station....keep up the good work translink :)

What to say about a bus station? Well, I'm not sure how…read morebest to describe Banbridge bus station because it really depends on the weather and seasons actually. It's made up of a very small ticket office - nice little space with floor to ceiling windows, warm in the winter and access to WiFi (Banbridge town public WiFi). However it closes by 5pm I think, and doesn't open Sundays which means if it's particularly bad weather outside then you're stuck outside to brave the elements. And that's the other issue - the exterior. I'm sure the architects who designed it wanted an open space that kinda connects the station into the town almost like a seamless transition, which it does. However as it's open plan it means that the benches and platforms are wide open to the rain, wind and cold, and we all know full well how miserable it can be especially through most times of the year . The canopy-roof style over head is kinda useless because the wind and rain just cut through the wide open space below, and it means the only way to avoid the weather extremes is to run and find cover in the town somewhere. There's a few cafes in town within a very close walking distance, as well as the smaller local Tesco, to do just that. And as you can image, the station is actually a nice place to sit and enjoy a to-go coffee or an ice cream during the summer or early autumn, when the blue skies and sunshine stand a better chance of sticking around more than a few hours . Otherwise, the station is generally kept clean and tidy, the bins are not gross and overflowing with trash like most bus stations tend to be, and it's super handy to the town centre, literally tucked right behind an Iceland shop off the town's main drag.

I came to her with a desire to go on holiday but with no idea on where to go. Within no time she had shown and talked to my girlfriend and I about a wide range of different holiday options, and we eventually settle on Egypt this year. She provided us with all the information that we needed to get ourselves organised and well informed for our trip.She rang us to talk to us and remind us about things before we left and enquired with us after we got back which I found to be great service. This place has been in local controversy because of the shady dealings of its former owner: hoefully this puts no one off coming here as they will get excellent service

Hillsborough Tourist Information is undoubtedly the most glamorous information centre I've been in…read more(totally in-keeping with its surroundings), located in an old Georgian Court House in the town's square, and just in front of Hillsborough Castle. Consisting of a gift shop / information area, an exhibition on the Court House and a few function rooms, this place is swish to the max. Now, I don't know if it was the fact that my sister and I: a) were slightly under-dressed in comparison to the locals b) looked too young to be hanging around these sorts of places c) were a bit dishevelled, having come in from a typically heavy Northern Irish downpour d) resembled a couple of young thugs who were up to no good... or e) none of the above ...but the staff threw us a few dirty looks, wouldn't come anywhere near us, and were really rather rude. Surely these people are trained to be polite, even if it doesn't come naturally? A scowl from one of the two ladies was completely unwarranted when my sister smiled at her. I picked up a few leaflets, had a dander around, and then left. I was thoroughly disappointed by their attitude, especially when the TIC itself is so well-kept and located in such a stunning building. Three stars it is peeps...sadly.

My first visit to Carlingford, in August 2017, was for a friends birthday. A crowd of us rented a…read morehouse and spent a couple of nights there. Not only is Carlingford a beautiful little village filled with flowers, cobbled streets and medieval castles/ architecture, it's also located beside a stunning lough. We booked our accommodation, a mystery cocktail tour and an evening meal through Visit Carlingford. Everything was organised perfectly and this made our trip completely stress free and enjoyable. An excellent weekend.
