We started with Portuguese chouriço sitting at a table with a bunch of friendly women who where enjoying all kinds of Turkish dishes. Then we had a great burger as the Kids enjoyed a real (yes real!) Italian pizza. The atmosphere got better by the minute as the live music was filling the loft like space. You gotta check this out if you are in the neighborhood! They've got stuff to eat from all over the world, from sushi to braai and all real authentic.

The cool little cycling drawbridge is pretty cool too. The restaurant itself was very nice. I was here at "happy hour" after work, very friendly people working there. To be honest, if someone didn't say hello and greet me (not even sure if she was working there or just a guest) I probably would have left. They have Grolsch Weizen beer on tap as well as many others. I miss the Wiezen at my own bar, so that's why I stopped here. Super friendly, young, helpful bar and wait staff. Only breakfast, lunch and bar snacks (at night) due to the Covid restrictions. It's difficult to fully ramp-up a restaurant these days IF you play by the government rules so I commend and respect them for not filling this place with people which I'm sure they could. It was raining outside so I can only imagine how crowded the outdoor terrace would be in the sun. I look forward to many more visits since my new office is in the same building....woo hoo!

For sweets, their chocolate salami was the best dessert I ever had in Amsterdam over my 6 years of visiting this city 3-4 times per year. We shared a few carafes of the house red (light-medium body and minimal flavor but good selection for our group) and then ordered some soups to start. Strike one out of my favorite the pomodoro...sniffle..but the minestrone was good if a bit on salty side. Main course was a slice of good pretty traditional lasagna..the Italian bread was good :) but I have come to expect good bread everywhere in Alkmaar. Desert for me was a glass of port which was nice and fruity (seemed to be a ruby as when I asked if they had a Tawny i received a quizzical look). Service during this visit was a bit friendlier than my second.. Second was just myself and a colleague grabbing a dinner and discussing business. Perhaps we gave off a do not disturb vibe but we had three different waiters and once again out of my pomodoro soup..sigh..i went with the Tris (spaghetti, ravioli and rigatoni) and it was filling and..meh..ok. The waitress who took our order apparently clocked out mid-meal. A replacement showed up at some point, which is how we found out our original server was just gone. Nobody flagged it, nobody acknowledged the gap. We had to piece it together ourselves. When the food finslly arrived, it was average. Not terrible, just not good. For what they charge, average is not acceptable. Three people, one birthday, total letdown. Skip it.
