I purchased a tasty olive oil that had a hint of pepper flavor and a delicious thick balsamic vinegar that is great for salads, and some interesting mustards (some with raspberry flavor!) for around 20 euros, which is crazy cheap compared to a similar store I frequented in Chicago. So, I'm pretty happy with this store and the friendly shop owner. If you want some fancy olive oils, olives, or other exotic condiments, this is the place to go!

When I visited their shop yesterday I steered clear of the chocolate and stuck with the ice cream. It was pretty good! the only weird flavor they had was fig, and that had an interesting texture of fig mixed in with vanilla, and it tasted like a touch of alcohol. Everything else was pretty good, like in the top 15% of ice cream I've had here. I especially recommend the blood sinaasappel (blood orange) flavor. Delicious! The best part is there is a park around the corner where you can sit and enjoy your ice cream. Warning: children might come up to you and try to scam a taste.

We had an assortment of traditional Dutch breakfast items (hot cocoa, bread, cheese, cookies, etc.) in the dining room, where we were told about the cool history of Hartog's. We then moved on to the bakery where we bought a loaf of whole wheat for a couple of dollars that we devoured in less than 2 days. We loved that this place took us slightly away from the touristy areas. Highly recommended if you want to see a more side of the City.
