After diagnosing the car, they told me both rear EPB actuators and calipers needed to be replaced. I approved the repair and paid $1,124. They later called and said the car was fully fixed and ready for pickup. However, when I arrived, the brake warning light was still on and the EPB was still not functioning properly. I immediately informed them. The next day, they re-examined the vehicle and told me the parking brake control module had lost communication and that they could not fix the issue. They referred me to a Mazda dealership for further repairs. In other words, after charging me over $1,100, the original problem remained unresolved. When the vehicle was returned to me, the brake fluid reservoir cap was missing. The reservoir had been temporarily covered with plastic, and I had to return the following day to obtain a replacement cap. This raised serious concerns about the level of care taken during the repair. I spoke directly with the owner, William Chen, who has been very unprofessional and dishonest throughout the process, about my concerns. During our phone conversation, I explained that I was disappointed and did not want to keep parts that did not resolve the issue. He initially stated that he could return the aftermarket parts (though not the OEM actuators). However, after speaking with someone else at the shop, he changed his position and said he would not return the parts or issue a refund. Overall, I paid for a repair that did not fix the problem and was then told to take the car elsewhere. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this shop.

Each time, I was told they couldn't find anything. Eventually, they picked up my car and kept it for two days--only to return it with the same response: "we don't know what you're hearing." To make matters worse, when my car was returned, the person dropping it off casually mentioned they "might've dropped some French fries" in it because they were hungry, and then told me the tank was empty and I'd need to get gas. That level of unprofessionalism was completely unacceptable. I want to be fair and say that working with Jason was a bright spot--he's been great throughout. I was recommended Taber Street Auto Repair by a neighbor and I am very glad I took his advice. I…read morewas told by a major auto dealer repair shop that my rack and pinion needed to replaced after they had just replaced the steering column. I was already in $600 for the steering column, which did not fix the clunking noise coming from the front end. They told me for another $1300 I needed to replace the rack and pinion. They were supposedly discounting the $600 I already put into the steering column. Basically a $2,000 job. Well, wrong diagnosis! The team at Taber said I just needed to replace the sway bar bushings. I told them to go ahead and replace the stabilizer arms while they were in there. My RAV 4 has 152K+ miles, so might as well for an extra $100 bucks. The cost of the repair was $330--compare that to $2,000 for a misdiagnosed repair. I am also getting the $600 refunded after contacting the repair shop on the original work. Thank you Taber Team and Steve. Fair, honest and reasonable. They have a new customer and I recommend this shop for your repairs or especially second opinions--it could save you big money!

Staff is pleasant and helpful and, once you're a regular customer and they know you, go above and beyond. Even better they'll give you good advice that will ultimately save you money. Taber is reasonably priced and doesn't charge you unnecessarily for what they don't do. (This may make sense for some. I've had a bad experience.)
