Designed by Arne Quinze, a famous Belgian artist whose work is in and outside of the restaurant. The place used to be a presbytery but you wouldnt know it from the modern elegance it exudes now. Arne Quinze's touches with more bronze art in the lobby, and a wooden installation that crawls throughout the main dining rooms. I came here alone to see what the best of Flanders eating was going to be like and was in for a real treat. You're served the usual amuses, fine bread and a great tray of oil, butter and some greens that are a tradition in Belgian with your bread. There are many menus to choose from, which were named in many ways, showing different expressions of the kitchen. I wanted to go with something seafood specific and ended up with the Desire menu: oral mouthsensations, salty, sour, sweet, bitter, umami e motion passion, drive SARDINE smoked, artichoke, sorrel, pickled onion, white celery RED MULLET aïoli, SPINACH, RAMSONS, SAFFRON, BREAD "POFFERTJES" SUNFISH BEURRE blanc sauce, yuzu, miso, langoustine, fennel RHUBARB white chocolate, sisho, buttermilk toggle one last temptation As you can see the menu's are somewhat playful and cryptic in their message. The balance. creativity and deliciousness of the food is not cryptic in any way. It is outstanding. As I got to speaking with most of the staff, the sommeliers and then Marie-Claire the co-owner, they saw I had an appreciation for what they were doing, in both cuisne, art and architecture (the 3 things I look for in my travels) and we ended up hitting it off quite well. Very soon other dishes that I knew were not on my menu showed up and they were very much at this point taking care of me like I was in their house. It is unbelievable the level of hospitality that I was shown. We got to talking about what I was doing and where I was going citing I had friends who owned a restaurant in Antwerp proper who some of them knew. Small world! Finding out that I was headed south to Brussels the next night, it turned out that they had just opened a restaurant there too. So they called ahead and said that I was coming. Talk about the royal treatment. I have nothing but exemplary things to say about the foils here. It was most unexpected and was definitely one of the highlights of my recent travels. I can only hope that people reading this will make their way out to Reet and experience what is an amazing restaurant from all points. I look forward to the day I can return and eat here again.

So I went there and we talked a bit with the owner, and he explained the process that he is using to make the gin, which botanicals and fruit peels he is using and why he chose them. We also had a quick tasting session, which was great. After that, I asked for a gin and tonic (local craft tonic water named syndrome was a perfect match for the house gin) and it was time for dinner. A pork belly was served as a delicious starter. After that I got their black angus ribs with french fries. I came for the gin, but their food is seriously good! I finished with a dessert made with coffee ice cream with amaretto foam and chocolate crumbles. Hmmm, so so good!

He's a gorgeous man with a love for food. And that's something you can taste in his food. It is exquisite! The only downside this time was I had two fish bones in my pheasant. When I told the waiter he didn't really make anything of it. A small apology would have been nice. But as I said the food is exquisite so accidents do happen sometime I know. We took the matching wines and I can only say, if you go and eat there, I would strongly advice you to do the same. The wines and food are a match made in heaven.

I loved the open kitchen concept along with the "window" that the staff would open when speaking with diners. Back of the house staff wore a uniform t-shirt and some wore a glove? Opted for the Bib Gourmand menu and started off with the duck pate. Wasn't a big fan of the pate as it had a different texture along with some chicken liver...perhaps it's an acquired taste? The table presentation had sourdough along with some soft butter. The bread was also lackluster... Opted for the pork as the main course and loved how it was still pink on the inside! The pork was put on the grill so I'm pretty sure it was cooked as it was warm in the middle. The pork itself was flavorful and seasoned with merely a bit of pepper. The mashed potatoes on the bottom were decent too. The veal tongue bits and the sauce was pretty salty and the sauce was a touch too over-powering...bummer. Meal ended off with the ice cream which I didn't quite understand as it felt like it came from a soft serve machine along with a cookie from a pre-packaged box... did I just walk into Denny's?!? Water was 4 Euro 50. 46 Euro 50 for dinner.

I ordered the Seabass, and although I had quizzed the server about the dish, she omitted to mention that this was cooked on the bone. I think this should be made clear with fish dishes. Prices are just a little but on the high side for what you get, especially for drinks.
