When dropping off our documents, we were questioned about: 1) residency - we rent a condo for the winter, but own no property, collect no income nor hold no documentation (license, change of mailing address, utility bills) in SC. We own a full time residence in upstate NY, which we maintain year round, live in for 3/4 of the year or more and which we occasionally return to in our snowbird months. 2) NY City residency - again we reiterated that we do not nor have we ever owned, resided or otherwise been a NY City earner/taxpayer. We have been to the city a grand total of 3 days in our six decades of life. Despite answering repeatedly and firmly these same questions, we were charged for 45 forms - which included multiple South Carolina and New York City forms - and mis categorized as part time NY state residents. We were even given a NY City school credit which we are not due. We paid $550+ for this service, and will now be having our 2025 tax returns corrected by a local NY agent. Our trust was breached severely.
