Excellent food. So fresh. A varied menu with a special each day Love all the soups had the special Pineapple Chicken Panini with tomato basil soup. Key Lime pie for dessert all fresh and delicious. My friend and I schedule a lunch monthly and try to always go to a place neither of us has been to (or haven't been to in years) and this past month, Deb's was our choice. We arrived minutes after opening and there was only one other table filled but by 11:45, the stream of professionally dressed diners was steady and continued for the whole time we were there. Take out business also appeared brisk. Despite the fact that business was good, our orders arrived quickly, our water glasses stayed filled and Deb came by to check on us regularly. I ordered the salad trio and the pasta salad was excellent, the fresh fruit was fine and given the fact that it was winter, that wasn't too surprising. However, the chicken salad was a bit bland. My friend ordered the day's special-chicken spaghetti-and she loved it. But she might have been more impressed with the homemade balsamic dressing. Overall, I would highly recommend Deb's Downton Cafe if you are headed towards that area of Longview around lunchtime. read more

This was a take this place off our list type day. JG score of 3/10 this visit for our scale (+2 for the Nutty bird and the chocolate pie, 0 for atmosphere, +1 for price, 0 for no Diet Dr Pepper, 0 for typical service and 0 for we probably won't return) The Nutty Bird was great. We had heard about this sandwich. Turkey, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, bean sprouts, etc....simple yet delicious. The chocolate pie was top notch too....the best we have had in a long time. The cheeseburger was good but not standout. The pie had a compressed type crust and chocolate drizzled all over it = delicious. The atmosphere was very, very loud. That alone makes it hard to have a good lunch here if it is busy. This is a smaller building downtown. The price was under $15....or would have been. We had an anonymous nice old couple buy our lunch for us. No Diet Dr Pepper, only Diet Coke. The service was very rushed= they were totally full at lunch, it is understandable. We probably won't go back. Not because of the food though. If we worked around that area, we would go back. read more

Went here for lunch. I ordered the Reuben and the sandwich was smaller than expected. I went again and got the smoked turkey sandwich and the portion was moderate. Maybe I'm just used to the over-sized sandwiches available in Houston and I'm a glutton. The decor is pretty bland, nothing too spectacular. It was clean though, which is really all anyone needs. Service is great here at Deb's. Drinks were always filled, and waitresses were very nice and pleasant. read more

My favorite lunch restaurant. I just wish they were open on weekends, but I don't blame them for enjoying the weekend themselves. My favorite is the chicken wrap. Also enjoy the BLT and Nutty Bird. They have tasty sounding daily specials written on a chalkboard on the wall. Have seen these range from soups to salads to burgers to "healthy plates". Pricing is great for lunch. ~8/person before tax/tip. Pay at the counter. Dessert always looks awesome. Seems to be something different every time. I go every chance I get! read more

Finally made it to Deb's this week. Their hours are tricky, not being open on weekends. I loved it so much I went back the next day! Went with a group of 8. We arrived at 11:30 and the restaurant was fairly empty but people poured in shortly thereafter. Get here early! Not much available parking right out front but plenty of side street action just a short walk away. The space is very loud, so conversation was strained. This wouldn't be a problem with a smaller group, though. They had a soup special, 2 salad specials, a hamburger and a healthy chicken dish on the chalkboard. Menu itself is on the shorter side but plenty of variety. I ordered the chicken wrap with fruit ($7.50). The wrap came with a red (tomato/herb?) tortilla stuffed with warm grilled chicken, melted white cheese, roasted red peppers and spinach. I loved it enough to order it to-go again today. Others at my table had good looking meals too. The chicken salad sandwich looked awesome, as did the meatball sandwich. The tomato basil soup looked heavenly, but came in a small bowl. Would like to return to try more. You pay at the register up front. They had no problem letting us pay separate even though we were on one ticket. I had a Reuben sandwich that was excellent! They have an interesting and fresh menu which is so tempting. The waitress is friendly and efficient. They bend over to accommodate you. One of my friends wanted a fruit salad but didn't like melon so they picked out the melon from the fruit salad. So customer friendly! read more

I get the same menu item each time I visit, so obviously I usually like the tuna salad sandwich with basil tomato soup. Today, it was egg salad. I complained, and was told there is always eggs in it. I guess I got the eggs for the entire batch in my one sandwich. I threw it away in front of them, but the item wasn't taken off my ticket. I ate most of the 1/2 of sandwich, and charging me for that would have been fair. It's gone downhill. read more

I absolutely adore this place and have been eating there on a regular basis since I moved to Longview in August 2010. The walls are painted to make you feel like you're eating in an outdoor garden- I love the murals! Each table has a different color or pattern table cloth which also adds character. The have great hot plate specials and their chicken salad is amazing! I also love the veggie wrap for something different and the tomato basil soup is soooo delicious! Just can't tell you how many times I had lunch here. For a while it was almost every day and it's just one block from the county court house. Their lunch specials are different everyday.
