The girl working the museum was really interesting and gave me lots of good info. Not a huge museum but everything was interesting and displayed nicely. There is a short movie made in 1985 about a farm store that was interesting. The courtroom on the 2nd floor was fun to explore and imagine what all happened in there initially heyday. The 3rd floor had an art exhibit. If u have time it is worth a stop.

I needed an appointment sooner than March of next year, so I made an appointment and took some time to drive to Bowie for my need. The staff is very friendly given the reputational nature of a DPS office! Kudos to them for holding it together and still being polite and informative. You tell them what you're there for, they make sure you have the right forms and they keep the appointment times flowing. It was such a well working machine when I arrived for my appointment 8:40am (I recommend arriving 10 minutes early to make sure you have all the right forms). They were so friendly, even when I thought I may have botched my name-change DL appointment by not bringing another form of ID (along with my DL and court order)! They looked for validated IDs in their system and found a Passport Card of mine that was validated and accepted that in lieu of me needing to reschedule and bring with a Passport, SS, or birth certificate with me. I'm grateful they saved me additional time and effort when they truly didn't have to. I'd drive all the way out here again in the future!

The lady said my plate wasn't in the system and temp plate wasn't either. I went to the Bowie registration office again. Two ladies working there said they didn't understand so I had to wait for the boss to get out of a meeting. Then another lady came over took my paperwork and disappeared. Then the original lady I seen called me back up. Then she tells me I have to pay $30 again. Why?! They didn't do their job the first time, so I have to pay for their mistake!! This is ridiculous.

There is a large parking lot with many slots. You will need to go through security then head upstairs to 2nd floor. There are tvs to watch or bring a book. It gets chilly so you might want to bring a jacket (at least day I was there) They are very organized in getting groups organized. My group was called around 930 and told to report back at 130 so had lots of time to explore the downtown square. Everyone I talked with that worked ther was pleasant. Was an interesting day. You are allowed to bring food and drink into the waiting room which I was happy about. There is a drink and snack machine outside the room, it seemed everyone that used it had some issues getting what they wanted.

It is bordered to the north by Montague County which is adjacent to Oklahoma. So we're pretty far north in East Texas. Wise County was founded in 1856 and is named after Virginia Congressman Henry A. Wise, who has supported annexation of Texas by the United States. He was elected governor of Virginia in 1856. J. It was built in 1896 and illustrates Romanesque Revival characteristics that are found in a number of Gordon's Texas courthouses. The central tower, with its projecting balconies, setbacks and dormers, crowns the building. Particularly distinctive is the fine masonry work throughout the structure. The exterior walls are of rusticated pink granite, while the main columns are of polished pink granite. Unfortunately, the building was closed for the night when I was here at 5:30pm on Saturday. Staff stated there were lots of people that had problems with the directions. Possible issue on my phone but I tried it repeatedly at multiple times same results. WCAD needs to get this corrected. The other thing: Emily, the lady who answered the phone at the Library, said that they have computers for visitors but no wifi available for guests (non students). The first floor is normally used for hanging out and loud people. -Need coffee? We have a cyber cafe that's got lots of caffeine options. -Can't find a book? Well we probably can't either. The thing is people take books off of shelves and move them around or leave them places so there's a good chance it could be awhile before it makes it back to it's place on the shelf. -For the love of god this is a library so don't walk in yelling on your cellphone you dumba$$.
