The store was set up to make designs and products that little bit more affordable to the average Joe and even though its still upmarket it's certainly achievable. The sheer quality of the showroom speaks for itself and the designs wouldn't look out of place in cribs! They offer service such as project management, interior architecture and interior design. And also boasts of various projects across the country including Killeen Castle and Charlemont on Malone. Really love this place...maybe one day I'll be able to take advantage of this fantastic designer on my doorstep...

However the minimalist, simple, natural, muted style Maven trade in wont be to everyone's taste. Well worth a browse though. They obviously must be doing something right if they've been here for 40 years, especially as it's not exactly an upmarket part of town. Once through the doors you are greeted by a rainbow of colours, shapes and textures. A bit of a maze, with 3 massive floors there is loads to see and perhaps buy. I say perhaps as it is a good bit more expensive than the chain retailers, but what they do have is quality. If you are just looking to add a hint of style head towards the back of the ground floor where you will find all manner of trendy accessories to funk up the dullest living room at more reasonable prices. There was some cracking statues, which I really would have bought if the other half hadn't dragged me out. My VISA card thanks him.

Their company motto is 'bringing design to life' and this is exactly what they do. Every product they sell is beautiful in it's own way. You can get books, gifts, household items and practical things. One thing I noted was that there was a huge amount of specialist coffee and tea products. One whole shelf dedicated to them. The lasy working was extremely friendly - saying a big warm 'hello' to everyone who walked in the door. That's not something you experience everyday, especially in retail. Looking for something different, a unique gift perhaps or just want to brighten up your boring kitchen - I suggest you head to Oscar & Joy - you won't regret it!

Argh, this review has probably been the most difficult one for me so far, and I haven't even begun!…read moreThere are really three reasons behind this... 1) When I looked at my receipt, the name of the shop was written as "Grey Goose Interiors et Salon de Tea" (which, of course, isn't proper French), but the the actual name of the shop uses the French version of tea, which looks like the with an accent over the e. And this is where my problem lay. I went to select a symbol for the e, and ended up choosing the wrong one. I then had to open up Word again, and select another e with the accent facing the other direction. Stress. And all because it's a French tea room. 2) When I popped into the Grey Goose, I was totally unaware that it was also a tea room. Thankfully, I was dressed appropriately enough, and despite my out-of-place look and accent (one of the customers had the obligatory posh North Down accent to a tea, er, I mean tee), I managed to inconspicuously have a look round. To be fair there wasn't a huge amount to look at...a few pretty accessories, even more pretty cards, and cute little gifts. I selected a card, and then realised a third dilemma... 3) There was another section adjoining the tea room, which I dandered into, thinking I could pay there. Unfortunately not. I was redirected back into the Grey Goose, and a girl who was working in the tea room came and served me. Apparently the shop next door is The Lightning Tree, which stocks some unique clothing. I didn't really look though, if I'm honest. So, apart from the name issue, the la-de-da type nature of the Parisian tearoom and the confusion of essentially three shops in the one building, it wasn't all that bad...

The food and the staff alike are top notch and it provides a friendly, warm and very comfortable environment to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. The shop side of the business is very nice as well with home furnishing and ornaments on display. They are all very nice but I thought perhaps mainly of a similar aesthetic with you tend to get with smaller shops, so you'll probably either like nearly everything in this respect or next to nothing. The one thing that let it down just a little for me was the coffee. I had a cappuccino and couldn't really taste the coffee, it was frothy milk with a chocolate taste from the sprinkles. So it wasn't unpleasant, just not what I like, it would remind me of Starbucks offerings. If the coffee had hit the mark it could probably hit 5*s from be in the future.

Lovely venue. Great branding. Though when your in an interior shop and it says on some of the displays 'no photos' it's a bit strange. Rather cold inside. Very difficult to park outside. The shop is a bit of an illusion as it looks tiny from the outside but is really very well stocked with posh expensive brands as well as more familiar affordable products. I recently called in for a look at their neutral coloured wallpaper and was impressed by the selection. The staff were lovely as well and very helpful - unfortunately I didn't find what I was looking for that day but I am glad I ventured in as I will no doubt be back the next time I decide to do a bit of painting and decorating.

The wallpaper choices and fabric choices are tremendous, from lower budget, to middle budget, to the higher budget, there is something to suit everyone. Traditional wallpapers, contempory wallpapers, wallpapers on the roll, wallpaper from the designer books, you really cannot come into the shop without coming out with something great selection. A real step up from places like B&Q, Homebase etc, and different wallpapers, your not going to see in other peoples houses, very unique. I certainly would not shop for wallpaper anywhere else now. A wee gem of a shop, with first class customer service which nowdays is very very difficult to come by.. Recommended 100%....Bangor High Street.
