So easy to get to, we walked to the ferry from our hotel and got a direct boat to the Manly harbor. A couple of blocks walk and you are on the beach. The weather was not all that great for swimming so we watched the surfers for a bit then headed on the trail that takes you out to the North Head and Burragula lookout. Honestly... the water is a bit muddy and the sand is brown and there are no waves. Don't come here for open ocean and waves. But its so freaking cute and chilled out. You don't feel like you're in Sydney really. And its so refined, darling. Its definitely very "niace" to spend the day at Parsely Bay dear, not "noice", that's for sure. Its the perfect place to come with a picnic hamper and a book and sit under one of the gorgeous trees and while the afternoon away. You will also always find parking within reasonable walking distance. It's really very pretty, the walk over the small bridge is cute too. Obnoxious teenagers climb over and jump into the bay from there, I'm too old for that shit. But it looks like a lot of fun!

Check out the pictures, as usual the pictures do NOT do the pool and area justice. Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. Manly Scenic Walkways - Do remember that "freak" waves can come any time and hit you while walking the pathway. Small cafe; I did not visit. Good for scuba diving and snorkeling - A maximum depth of 12 meters. We saw many classes out there teaching and training locals and tourists. Atmosphere - Lizard and bird (turkey) friendly, see pictures. Art, statues, educational information, etc. along the walking paths. Pedestrian friendly, no/restricted bikes allowed on many paths. In the main town, there is plenty of shopping, eating, and people watching. Pay parking lots. Service - Quick easy ferry from and to Manly. Much easier than driving. Express ferries are also available for a little more $$. "Smart beach" - See picture for definition. There are public toilets and showers, but there was a long line the entire time we were there. The area between the two beaches is a protested reef. So be mindful. The sand did have bit of shells and ocean debris. There was also some beer caps floating around, so just be wary where you walk. If you're looking for a nice shaded spot, bring your own or relax by the side where the trees are. The do have public showers, toilets, rinse off area and a filtered water station. Plus a nice beachside cafe for your dinning pleasures. Took a lot of great photos, but do respect the signs and the law. And clean up after yourselves.

Beaches everywhere!…read more Quite frankly, I tend to go to Dee Why beach the most because of the wide variety of food there (my life is literally revolves around food #sorrynotsorry haha) but if you walk a little further down, this is where you'll find Long Reef Beach. This little beauty is also another popular place amongst families during the weekends. It's particularly nice because it tends to not be as packed as the others. However on hot sunny days parking will be hard to find! If you're game, I'd suggest walking from Dee Why beach down to Long Reef and then back before or after dinner. Not only are you burning calories, but you can also take in the beautiful scenery and that amazing feeling of sand between your toes. Win-win in my books!

Getting hungry and needing a bit of clarity, I spotted the sign for the beach and went for it. What I found was an awesome little surf club and a brilliant beach. Taking my opportunity to stretch my legs I got rid on my shoes and soaked in a bit of sun while feeling the warm, soft sand. Having been to my share of beaches overseas, when you have a blue sky day in Sydney, and you are on the beach (especially on that is not over crowded), there is not much better. As for this club, they have done a great job in providing the essentials for an awesome weekend. There is a the BBQ, covered benches and a little kiosk. So with plenty of parking available, and a great beach just waiting for you, what are you waiting for....? :-)

But yeah, Redleaf. Halfway between Kings Cross and Vaucluse, it really is just a peach of a place. Stroll down through some magic manicured gardens to a hidden slice of damn near perfection. Long, lovely sand, a shady hill with green grass to sprawl on (shoot for a prime spot under the trees, or miss out and quietly get well jell of the people that did manage to jag a tree spot) and a big, beautiful private swimming pool made of the harbour itself. Swim out to the pontoons and have yo-self a little ol' pontoon party. That's what the cool Eastern Subbsies kids do. And pretending you're one of them can't hurt. You just have to get the strut right.

The bus ride took us through many smaller towns and plenty of other beach opportunities if you wanted to make a day if it. We walked, waded and sunbathers for a few hours. Had a coffee and snack opposite the beach before the bus ride back. The beach is beautiful, quiet and felt very secluded from the hustle and bustle of most. The homes built into the hilltops around the cove are outstanding. There is also a bath for swimming at the far end. Bathrooms, showers available to public. Enjoy!

The best part about Mona Vale was it was so peaceful and calm. A lot of the beaches by Sydney's city centre were flooded with people, so it was always nice to go to this beach to get away from the mainstream beaches of Sydney. (Don't get me wrong; those are great too!) This beach was always so clean. It was relatively calm and the waves weren't too crazy. It was a very residential area, so you have to walk a bit of a way to get to the beach from the bus stop and the restroom / restaurants / shops, but it's worth the 5 minute walk! For some unknown reason, there would always be these random tiny foam balls all over the beach when we would go. And we can't forget the couch that was there to draw and leave a note on for other beach-goers. Ahhh... the sound of fresh, warm Sydney air with the views of Mona Vale sounds perfect!

If you're sufficiently normal to identify with the above, then you will also dig Mona Vale Beach. At the end of Mona Vale Road, it's a popular spot for kids from the North Shore, as well as the beaches locals. Mona Vale has everything that you'd want in a beach - ample parking (the free spots are highly competitive on Saturday mornings and summery weekends, be warned), a lovely ocean pool, lifeguards, clean and modern toilets and nearby food - winner! Additionally, Mona Vale is a very big beach, rendering it ideal to run/walk/stroll leisurely up and down. It's also ideal if you're not into the crowds of Freshwater and Manly; you can set up camp wherever you like on the long sandy strip. Popular with both surfers and swimmers, it's always possible to get away from it all at Mona Vale Beach. Be aware of swimming conditions though - it's often choppy and rough, and you should swim between the flags if you're not a strong swimmer!
