Away from my talk about football, this is probably one of the larger one of Preston's malls, which does have quite a few shops in the city centre on its main shopping street as well as various other small malls. Brands here include Ryman, Burger King, Costa, The Works and Superdrug while also including CeX, Clintons, Marks and Spencer, O2 and The Perfume Shop so the overall shop selection is satisfactory. The selection in terms of food and drink here, I sadly found to be quite bad, with the selection being just a few fast food places or coffee places at best, with brands here including Burger King, Subway, Krispy Kreme and Costa who do very little (if anything) for customers following a gluten-free diet, which I need to do for health reasons. The staff around the mall seemed friendly enough, but they didn't seem too helpful sadly. The layout of the mall was okay, yet it wasn't the best nor clearest either. This mall is satisfactory at best and is mainly let down by lack of places to eat and drink and as well as other factors mentioned in my review, I feel this mall deserves just a two-star rating.

OK, so the shops are all designer, the ones everyone loves to look in, sometimes go in to have a look at just how much some people are prepared to pay for t-shirt....but boy the designers have designed a perfect place for designers to come sell their designer bits 'n bobs. little bubbling fountains, coffee and bagel huts for that quick pit stop and belly filler. I sat in here for about an hour, just sipping my cheap filter coffee and commoner's bacon and egg bagel getting a good view of how the other half live. I didn't mind, I was content, in such a place I find it hard to believe anyone could feel otherwise.

In all seriousness, The Victoria Quarter is the opulent home to some of the more high end brands of the Leeds shopping arena, and with it comes certain prestige in being housed here. The little independent stores like the French Revolution and Rose & Co gain a little kudos in being located here, as that is the effect the Victoria Quarter has on a business here. It is really rather easy to get lost in the annals of the walkways, be it through gawping at all the lovely shopping enticements, or be it from the identical high vaulted ceilings and archways criss crossing across one another, identical fountains, and sympathetic shop signage so that it doesn't interfer with the original features and feel of the Victorian decor. Depending on which entrance you take you will find fountains tinkling delicately, or small tables with coffee service, or even a small but assuredly delicious pattisserie. Benches are also dotted around and if you take the time to perch, and knock your head back you'll see the bizarre yet beautiful glass decoration. A worthy attraction all on it's own.

Several of the shops are meant to be discounted and some do seem to have sale prices a lot of the time but I wouldn't really describe it as chock full of bargains by any means. There's a food court which overlooks a pretty marina with its assortment of yachts and boats. A MacDonalds on the outskirts and a Costa Coffee within the village itself add to the eating and drinking possibilities. I'd describe it as a nice place to visit for a morning or afternoon out if you're in the area but you may be disappointed if you travel many miles to shop here as it doesn't compare to serious shopping venues such as the Trafford Centre and in all honesty I don't think it would make any claim to.

The play area is a massive bonus for those of us with men and kids: one place to dump them both for a couple of hours of shopping in peace! It's not the best in the world but it is perfectly adequate and if it's somewhere you don't visit often then there would be plenty to keep the kids amused. I liked the fact that at the end there's a sort-of marina, so you can watch the boats (ok, I only did it for about 2 minutes then got bored and went to buy chocolate in Thorntons instead, but I liked the idea of it). Definitely worth a visit if you're having a good old British holiday in Blackpool and want a bit of civilized retail therapy.

It opened in 1986 and it's main stores include Debenhams, TJ Hughes, Primark, TK Maxx, Argos, Poundland and Sports Direct. The layout of the mall is slightly confusing in terms of "store levels" and could mean you go in on the third level, despite having three levels the mall isn't huge, and I'd say it is on the smaller side, although it does have a satisfactory range of shops. Other places here include a Starbucks, which was the first thing I noticed as I walked into Fishergate, it seemed like quite a nice branch, although having been to Starbucks at Deepdale on Blackpool Road earlier, I did not call in to the Starbucks here today, other non-shops here include Mcdonald's and I presume there is a Debenhams Cafe here. Overall, the range of selection here including dining is bad, so bad in-fact, even someone from the mall advised me to go elsewhere due to such limited selection. This mall, doesn't feel like one for a large city, and more of a small town, so I'm struggling in terms of determinating a rating for Fishergate, yet still, it is a decent addition to Preston city centre, yet isn't the best place to shop (most certainly it isnt the best to eat), so warrants a two-star rating which is slightly generous, but more deserved and appropiate than a single one-star rating.

Located just across the road from the fabulous Xscape, Junction 32 is the more shopping oriented venue out of the two, offering an array of discounted shops, in the form of Christy's, Gap, Gaggie, Whitard's, Nike Factory Outlet, Rockport, LaSenza, Monsoon, Mango and Mexx to name but a few. Once you've walked your feet off following the square layout of the place, there's a Starbucks to indulge in, but as Starbucks' go, this one isn't that brilliant, Thornton's Cafe, Subway, BB's and some others to recoup and gather energy back to the core. But if that doesn't just do it for you, wander over to Xscape as there are plenty of food facilities over there. Massive car park, so if you've climed into your motor vehicle, there's no worry about finding a place to park, and it's free too, nice little bonus. Open until 8 on weekdays, it's been a life saver on occasions where work doesn't permit leaving until 6pm, and everywhere's shut.

It does seem a little strange having a retail park so close to the city centre, where other areas of Greater Manchester are left behind but the selection of places to shop is fine, while the selection of eateries could be much improved, due to a lack of restaurants that aren't just fast food. There's a good number of coffee shops here, including Costa, Dunkin and Starbucks, the latter two have opened within the past 18 months or so, so are fairly new additions. Places to eat include KFC, Pizza Hut, Nando's and Subway. There is also a McDonald's right next to the Fort with a drive-thru (The Fort claim this to be part of the shopping park on their website) The selection of stores is okay and includes TK Maxx, Superdrug, Sports Direct, Boots, and Argos. There are also a couple of phone shops, nothing too exciting, but a decent number of stores that could save you a trip into the city centre. A couple of stores have closed recently, but with the aftermath of COVID and the fact the city centre (where many of these brands have stores, many of which are larger) is so close, this has to be expected. It is pretty easy to follow the layout, there are a couple of benches around the shopping park and some shelter to help stay dry if there's a light drizzle. Plenty of parking, meaning you shouldn't struggle to get a space somewhere. I do think the pedestrianisation could be improved for other retail parks, given the fact there are three main areas, which may mean crossing a road or going through the car park, if you're at one end of the Fort, you may have to use your car to get to adjacent McDonald's or Currys across the way. 3*

I have visited Manchester Fort regularly over the years, but I have been far more impressed during…read moremy latest visits over the past weeks, which is due to the discovery that the Shopping Park now has a Nike Outlet Store and a H&M. Since when? Fantastic! Although the H&M was smaller to what one would find in Manchester City Centre, it still has a good range of stock and very well organised, full of stylish shoppers. The Nike Outlet is, once again, smaller to what one would find in other Outlet Malls, but the range of stock, sale items, and discounts are very impressive. Personally I am seeking some new trainers for the gym, and found a great selection at bargain prices. The staff in the store are welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. They certainly have that US Customer Service mindset, which I welcome wholeheartedly. I can see myself becoming a regular here, especially when the Summer of Fitness is upon us. The Shopping Park also boasts a TK Maxx, which I am a big fan of, and I have often found that they have a good range of stock, and I have purchased some excellent items here from clothes to home decorations. The store seems to have had a recent refurbishment to extend the first floor space, which opens out the whole store. As well as, fashion and clothing, one can find a variety of stores at this Shopping Park, and not just clothing and outlets. Manchester Fort has: Halfords Store, for all car, cycle, and motorcycle accessories; B&Q, for all home and garden DIY needs; a technologically modernised Argos, full of tablet-ordering-system and a varied system that the normal Argos shopping experience. Other stores include: Clarks, Mamas&Papas, Boots, Superdrug, M&S Food, Card Factory, Game, Maplin, Sports Direct, Specsavers, Thomas Cook, Shoe Zone, Mothercare, Thomson Holidays, Trespass, and Pound World (you can never go wrong when you have a pound shop to hand. In addition, there are a couple of common places to eat like McDonald's and Pizza Hut, yet I do feel there could be a little more restaurants considering the size of the area. Nevertheless, it makes a great day out because you can easily spend hours browsing each store as you walk around from one end to the other. The retail park has a bright and modern feel to it. No surprise it is so popular with visitors, with a huge car park to accommodate.
