Brian and Elliot were friendly/welcoming, sharing that I was third off the tee and behind two local ladies that were walking , so forewarned it could be slow. I caught up to the walking group on hole three and at hole four they had stepped aside and kindly let me play through. Their names were Loray and Kathy, they were lovely. Overall, the course was fun, in pretty good condition and offered unique challenges due to its layout. I finished 18 in 2-ish hours. I would definitely recommend this course to folks visiting Helena. I had even left a divot remover in the cart only to receive a phone call from Elliot informing me, as we was aware I was out of state and didn't want me to lose out on personal belongings. Not many folks do that. Now. Prior reviews: - To Mark, slow play is common and not reason to rate the course zero stars. - To Jack, Sunday's at any course are typically booked solid. I think it fortunate the course was able to accommodate your begging request to play, albeit only able to fit you onto the regulation and not the desired par 3. Had you planned accordingly and in advance*, I'm certain you would have had a much different experience. Nobody wears sweats and beaters on the course anymore ;). The one star rating aligns more with your failure to following the six P's, cause most know Proper, Prior, Planning, Prevents, Poor, Performance.

We ended up playing 18 but felt an extreme amount of pressure to finish quickly due to the men's league starting 2.5 hours after our tee time. The course itself is pretty average for the cost ( paying for a decent view and mountains). The carts were pretty old and had trouble making it up hills. The greens were a bit inconsistent and hole placement was questionable. Overall if you're looking to golf in the area I'd recommend driving an hour or so to play a different course.

Firstly the courses long standing rules are never enforced. Fivesomes occur regularly mostly on weekends, underage kids have been seen driving golf carts (both private and course owned), extremely slow golf with no one enforcing pace of play. They believe 2:15 per side is ok pace and if you are holding up 3 to 4 groups behind you this is fine. No marshals to help with this. 4 nights of league play every week.....bunkers only raked if there will be a tournament. Water jugs and ball washers removed during COVID never put back, citing "to much work" and "health hazard" which is kind of strange as nobody died the previous 50+ years cuz of ball washers etc. If you complain staff gets angry at you not rule breakers. Best price to play golf in Helena area but unsure if this makes up for its shortcomings. Helena sorely needs another public course, cuz if they did have competition the above mentioned items would not exist. Typical local government run entity.

Would NEVER recommend this course…read more The staff working at the time was extremely rude and disrespectful. They allot 15 minutes a hole and, according to the staff, they track you. If they THINK (without knowing circumstances of letting smaller groups pass or waiting on other groups in front of you) you are not under your time limit, they will let you know. They promote family golf on their commercials and allow people to play music in their carts, but will not allow children under six to ride in a cart with their parents.

Expecting too fast of play, sending the Marshall out and forcing you to run to your ball even though you're waiting at every tee box. Terrible communication and didn't care to listen to anyones experience. Several players from different groups tried to talk with him and he just overlooked and spoke over everyone. $105 a round to be scoffed at and demeaned. Ive played some decent courses over the years but never had this sort of experience.
