I usually don't give 1 star reviews. I have used this bike shop twice in the past 2 months to…read morereplace a flat tyre. First time my bike lasted until I got back and the next day the tyre blew up with a giant bang. I was not sure if this was because pressure was higher than I saw on the pump. Second time I gave them benefit of the doubt and the result was within 10 mins my rear tyre had lost all pressure again. Went to another bike shop and they pointed me straight away to a hole in the tire which this bike shop would have missed. They also charge quite a lot more than most bike shops. 22.50 as opposed to 15 comparable with other bike shops

These guys have really nailed how to run a bicycle workshop! You've got the shopkeeper at the front…read morewho greets you, then two guys at the back busy working away on various bicycles. I walked in with my bike and was greeted straight away, asked to wait a few minutes and one of the mechanics would see me. I was having some gear trouble and he put the bike up on the clamp and had a fiddle, then took it for a ride around the block. He was really good and diagnosed the problem quickly. Since my gear unit isn't being made anymore, getting the parts would be the problem, but if I could track down the parts, they said to just come back and they'd fit it. I asked 'how much?' and the chap said, 'well, we didn't fix your problem, so no charge'. That was very decent of them, because I did take up a bit of his time and he successfully diagnosed the problem for me. So great service, I'll certainly be coming back (good news! I think I found the part I need). As for the shop, it's all very clean and minimal. All the parts and accessories on the wall appear to have been chosen for their quality, so I don't think there's much chance of people not being satisfied after a visit here.

I popped in a while back to get a quote on some repairs for a cheap bike I picked up a while back. Luckily, it only really needed a service and some small items replaced and I got a call the next day to say that it was ready to be picked up. I was surprised by the speed of service and by how much better the bike ran after being in the shop. They stock your expected range of random bikes for kids, but I was more surprised to see the wide range of top end racing bikes they sell for adults. They have Cannondales, Wethepeople and Saracen bikes in stock and also a good range of pro bmx's. This took me back to my childhood and I was tempted to get hold of one on credit. Seeing as I'm sure I won't bounce when I land anymore, it was lucky that I decided to sensibly leave the shop with the safer mountain bike I already had. You can tell the staff are bike enthusiasts and will happily get hold of anything not in the store for you. They advertise pay in instalments for Xmas bikes if you wanted to get ahead of your Christmas finances, which I thought was a good idea. A very cool shop for all things bike related.

I paid £25 for the spoke to be fixed and the wheel balanced. Unfortunately, once back home with the wheel back on the bike it felt very twitchy - and further inspection revealed four spokes still loose. A very poor job, a complete waste of time and money. Manager and staff seemingly not bothered when I phoned them, didn't offer any explanation for why it wasn't checked - all they could offer was 'mention it if you're down again and we will see what we can do'. No chance, won't be returning.
