I was very disappointed. Granted, I didn't have any alterations done because I wasn't given the chance, but I was not pleased with my visit. I went in to have a chiffon bridesmaid dress taken in and up. I'd called around several places for estimates on pricing, and they all said about $50-60. I get in, try on the dress and the lady starts pinning and marking (not very friendly about it, might I add.) When I get to the register she tells me it's going to be $105. WHAT?!?! $105 dollars?? I told her I had someone else who would do it for half that and there's no way I could pay $105 after already paying $200+ for the dress itself. All she said was, "Well then, I can't do it for that." Okay, fine. But then ... Rudely, she starts pulling the pins out of the dress. Then she whips the dress off the counter and takes it to the back to remove her chalk marks. She then proceeds to throw the dress on the counter with an attitude and says, "Here." No "I'm sorry, thanks for coming in," or "Sorry we weren't able to make things work." No even trying to negotiate. I just was very offended by the way I was treated. So now I know that their prices are too high and their customer service is terrible. I needed a skirt and pants tailored for two suits in a really short turn around time. Not only did they do an EXCELLENT job with the tailoring, but they also were able to get both pieces done in 3 days over a holiday weekend. Only giving one star since they wouldn't le me give less. Took 3 suits & 2 pair of pants there to be altered at a cost of over $300 (which I thought was a little over-priced, but they came highly recommended from a friend) and when I wore these items for the first time, they weren't tailored correctly and the button on the front of the jackets were barelty attached (literally hanging by a thread). When returned, they made a big issue out of the fact that it was not thier work on the pants - thereby admitting that they didn't alter the pants even thought I paid for it to be done. Even thought I had paid, they refused to do the work correctly without bieng paid, and gave me a "deal" of paying another $50 to do so. When returning to pick these itmes up the secodn time, the owner came out and bascially accused me of trying to steal from him. When I pointed out that the buttons on the front of the jacket STILL weren't done - even after specifically making note of that issue when i returned them to be done correctly and even had those calculated into the $50 re-work charge - he got threw my stuff on the counter, tore my jackets off the hanger and left for the back. i told him to forget it and he's lost my business for the future. read more

I took 2 wedding dresses to Deerwood Tailoring, and they both came out perfect. One needed a major alteration win an area with lace work, and was no problem. The Price was fair and they even replaced a Zipper in a bridesmaids dress free of charge. Eddie is awesome! Highly recommend. read more

I have been to this tailor many times and I couldn't speak more highly of this shop. They do wonderful work and have a quick turn around with items. The prices are very reasonable and the owner/staff are extremely nice and very helpful. I've had them alter two bridesmaid dresses, jeans, two other additional dresses and a poncho/wrap. I brought over 7 pair of pants and 2 Brooks Brothers suits. They damaged my suits by over altering them to the point they were too tight and too short. Then he had the nerve to pretend they were fine when my ass was sticking out of the back if both suit vents. read more

I have lived in the Jax area for almost 5 years now and that's how long I have been using Deerwood Tailoring for alterations. I have been in 6 weddings in the past two years and have brought all my bridesmaid dresses there to be altered. The first 5 dresses, I was very pleased with and the prices were ALWAYS reasonable. One dress I had hemmed, taken in and had a sash shortened and only paid $60! Other dresses only got hemmed and I paid no more than $40 for each. I recently brought the 6th dress in there to get hemmed. There were some different people in there working. The lady measured everything for me and when I went to the register the guy was trying to charge me $80 just for the hem. I asked if it was because of the material on the dress or if they had raised their prices because I had never paid that much before. I explained how I had 5 dresses altered there previously. I think he thought it was my first time in and thought he could charge me a higher amount. I ended up paying it and, don't get me wrong, the work was still done well. However, I won't be returning there after being charged so much. They need to have some consistency in pricing and not charge those who they think are "new customers" more than others... read more

I, personally, had a terrible experience with Deerwood Tailoring. I needed to get my bridesmaid dress altered because it was huge. The two of us discussed adding bones to the side of the dress, taking it in, and adding removable straps to the dress. This total cost added up to $140. The bones were never added to the side of the dress. She also took in the dress too much (it woudn't zip), and when I came back a week later to try it on a second time, she had failed to let it out at all (the zipper was stuck in the exact same place), even though she insisted that she took it out over an inch. I asked her to take it out more then, and she got angry at me because "she had already worked hard and spent a lot of time on my dress". When I went back the third time, the dress was still wouldn't zip, so I had to go somewhere else to have it fixed. Finally, I was extremely clear with her that I needed REMOVABLE straps for the wedding, because the bride wanted us all to be strapless until after pictures were over. We had discussed what she was going to do, and she said it would be no problem. She kept forgetting to add the straps the first 2 times I went back in, saying that I never told her to do straps, until I showed her proof that I had paid for them. Finally when she did it she added permanent straps, saying that it would be better than strapless, and suggested I simple "tuck the straps into my dress", which didn't work at all, because they bunched up. When I told her that we had discussed removable she insisted that we never had the conversation. When I finally convinced her to give me removable straps, the hooks were showing! To be fair, she told me that they would, which didn't make any sense to me until I realized that she used the wrong type of hooks. I ended up having the hooks fixed at the same place I had my dress let out, and finally fit. The overall experience was a nightmare. While she seemed to do a decent sewing job, her customer service and ability to follow through on what had been discussed and agreed on was overall unbelievable, especially considering how much I paid ($140!!).
