They had seamlessly loaded the contents of my 650 square foot apartment including large/heavy fragile furniture with glass (8 foot tall dresser with mirror weighing 250 lbs, and 50 galloon reptile tank) in about 1 hour. We promptly left via car to meet them at our new address in Philly, and they arrived at exactly the same time as we did. They unloaded the truck in about an hour again, and helped partially unpack and put items in the proper places, especially the furniture that would have been hard for me to move on my own later. I will continue to use Piece of Cake, and have recommended to several friends over the years that I have been using them. It was quick working with the customer support team initially to quote the move, make payment, and on COIs and confirmation. When we move again in a couple years Piece of Cake will be the only mover I call. My recommendation to others considering the service, be transparent and honest about the contents of your move, especially items requiring extra protection even if there is an additional fee involved. There were no surprise add-ons in my move because we carefully selected every single item that would be included in our move early on in the process, and made sure to reply in detail to the follow up emails regarding insurance, access to the apartments (stairs vs elevator, reserved elevator, etc.), and so on move-in day everything went off without a hitch. Based on my estimates of the time the job would take, they were much cheaper than any of the 5 other companies we got quotes from. In the end though, the job did take longer than expected. They used three employees and a large truck. They provided blankets, plastic wrap, and tape to properly protect all items for transport. If they noticed any preexisting damage on the furniture, they notified us promptly so we were aware. Initially, they worked quite efficiently, but began to slow down during the second half of pick-up. What I thought would take about 4 hours ended up being a 6 hour job, including a 45 minute drive to the new place. They still came in cheaper than the next best quote we were considering, but not by much. When they finished the move, they left a mountain of tape, plastic, and cardboard, which they supplied, in our hallway. We thought they would clean it up before leaving, but we were left with that task, which was disappointing. They require a $50 + tax deposit to reserve a move. You pay the balance after all the work is done. They offer a discount if you pay in cash. Overall, they were professional and moving is grueling work so I have no major complaints, other than the debris they left behind. But be mindful that the time-based quote may add up, so be prepared to spend more than you might anticipate.

From my first call to the company to waving the team off when the job was completed, each interaction was cheerful, kind, patient, and incredibly helpful. On moving day, they showed up, bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, smiling, and ready to work. The team: Milo, Dragon, and Josip were incredibly helpful. Milo took one look at me, realized how flustered I was about everything, and took a minute to calm me down. Who does that??? He and his team worked efficiently and calmly. He even fixed a loose leg on a piece of furniture. Again, who does that?! So incredibly kind and helpful. There was a hiccup at the storage unit; we had an issue getting in, and they were patient and kind. Everything went off without any problems, minor or major. They were just, well, Magical! As for pricing, they were the only moving company that didn't charge predatory pricing. Magical Moving didn't charge me travel time, waiting time, or anything insane. Price-wise, they were extremely reasonable. Unlike the other moving companies I contacted. The other moving companies, once they understood it was a last-minute move, tripled their price, added travel time, wait time, everything. That was a nightmare. On the flight in on Wednesday, we were coupled with quotes of over $1,000, or trying to navigate traffic, or multiple Ubers with a mattress and 11 boxes and a tv, or throwing it all in the trash. I sent a quote request on Wednesday. The responses and follow up were quick, thorough and easy to navigate through. By Thursday afternoon, we had a fantastic quote, a time scheduled and the COI required by her student housing. By Friday at 10:00 am, she was completely moved. The service was professional, exceptional, and just easy. Less than 36 hours after the request was sent. Thank you so much. With how easy this was, we had more time to enjoy the city and take it all in before she comes home for summer. I cannot recommend this company enough.

I price-compared a ton of NYC moving companies and J & G gave me a competitive moving quote. Additionally, the building I was moving into required a certificate of insurance (COI) and J & G was able to offer it for me for free. A lot of other companies charge for this. Before moving, I communicated with them via email and they always responded promptly and were very clear about what their moving package included. The day of the move, they called and asked if it was okay if they came an hour early. They were very communicative with me during the whole move. The lead guy (forgot his name!) assessed how many things I had and then discussed with the other 2 men on how to efficiently approach the move. The 3 men were over 6' tall and strong, and they were able to finish my whole move in a little more than 1 hr! I did not have anything that was easily breakable but the men treated my things with care. They provided blanket and shrink wrapping for all of my furniture. Everything was loaded up into their truck very quickly. These guys wasted no time. When I arrived at my new apartment building, they had already started unloading my things. I had my boxes labeled with what was inside (i.e., kitchen supplies, shoes, jackets) and they actually placed each box in the corresponding room. Best of all, there were no hidden fees. They ended up not charging me a processing fee that was included in the quote and gave me $40 off my quoted price. The movers were so friendly, communicative and professional, I will definitely be using J & G Moving again! I also wanted to note that on the day of my move, the street I was moving from was blocked due to construction. J & G movers did not complain or make any mention of that until I had stepped outside of my apartment building and noticed it. They worked quickly but carefully, wrapping all of my furniture and somehow managing three giant mirrors without a single issue. Not one complaint and not one moment of stress. What really stood out was how above and beyond they went. They helped me figure out which part of my couch would actually fit in my space, laid out my rugs, and organized everything so I could still move around my studio comfortably. Also shoutout to one of the crew members who was on his first day. You truly could not tell. The whole team was professional, efficient, and just genuinely great to work with.
