She proceeded to ask me leading questions and things like " do you see things that aren't there". she went through a standard list of questions and led me into answering some of them in the direction she wanted. I was very furious when I left as she never spoke to me about why I was there in the first place and then decided not to continue with my medication. She said to come back in a month and we would re-evaluate. I won't be going back. It's too bad because I actually like Dr.Conley but unfortunately I don't get to see him.

He's a very good listener and he helped me out a lot. I can remember him telling me, that everyone in their own right could possibly have emotional/mental issues. Everyone could possibly have a bi-polar type condition. He kept it real with me as well as himself. So regardless of who he is living with (it is shacking, not Shaking...) if he was living with a woman, then she obviously was separated. Their Google reviews are glowing, which makes me suspect many or most are fake. Because we have had nothing but trouble from them ever since the buyout. Sure, there are some good providers, but the turnover rate is high due to the parent company's lack of respect for its workers, the providers. Impenetrable bureaucracy, web sites that don't work, uncaring employees, long, long wait times on the main phone number, etc. The excerpts below describe perfectly the nature of this ravenously monetizing uncaring corporate culture: 'Former employees at practices acquired by LifeStance described working at the company as a culture shock, with locations being run "like a fast-food restaurant" with "no one really caring that these are patients' lives. ... Despite the potentially addictive nature of some of these medications, former LifeStance employees claim that medication prescribers have been advised to cut consultation times to maximize revenue, with some former clinicians having seen "30 patients a day". Others described it as akin to "war medicine." LifeStance also rewarded its "highest-performing" medication prescribers with stock grants, according to the company's CFO. I scheduled an appointment and was not able to make it because of an emergency involving my 8-month…read morepregnant wife. I knew I was missing the appointment but did not have the bandwidth to call them as I was focusing on my wife and unborn child's well-being. I received a bill for a $75 no-show fee. This is pretty standard and I did not have a problem with them sending me this bill. However, I called immediately and explained the situation. The woman on the phone was sweet, she said she had a small child and said: "Of course you weren't thinking about calling us!! I will see about getting this charge reversed." That was 5 months ago. This week, I received another bill for the $75 no show fee. I called again and the person I spoke to this time said "Yes, we see that you called in but we're unable to reverse the charge. You'll have to pay the $75." I just think this is poor form coming from a group that has several locations, has great reviews, and is a fairly large entity here in Georgia. That $75 means a lot more to me than it does to them, and I wish they had a better no-show policy that leaves room for emergency situations.

Over the past few years, I've dealt with many psychologists and psychiatrists, and I've experienced first hand the frustrations of dealing with the mental health and substance abuse "system". For most, you have an hour, and once you've paid for that hour, you no longer exist. Follow up texts and phone calls might be returned, but probably not for a couple of days if ever. There's no real warmth or caring behind the professional, and they take no interest in the patient beyond that hour. After meeting with one particular psychologist for a solid year, we had to interrupt our regular meetings for the past 8 weeks. I would have expected at least a simple text "How is it going?", but I've heard nothing. Dr. Grieco was quite the opposite. He felt genuine, and while I'm sure he does well financially, I didn't feel it was all about the money. During a particularly tense moment in the patient's care, I called Grieco's office at 11pm to leave a message regarding care the next day. I expected to leave a voice mail, but he surprisingly answered the phone. I apologized, and said "I'm sorry, I didn't expect you to answer. I was going to just leave a voice mail. I can call back tomorrow." He said, "No it's ok. Tell me what's going on." That was quite a welcome relief at that moment, and especially at 11pm. If you can find a psychologist like this, don't let go.

While Skyland Trails is not perfect (as you can see from some of the reviews), I will say, that two…read moreyears have passed by since my adolescent was there, and they are STRIVING! ST has some, not all, amazing staff. Those amazing staff members helped my teen understand themself and helped us understand them. While I do not think ST made my child 100% better, it was the steppingstone we all needed to help us with the right continuation of care to follow. As a parent of an adolescent there, it is important to LISTEN to your child and ADVOCATE when needed. While my child may have thought that this was not helpful when they were there, my child makes sure that we know when there is a 5K or an event at ST and insists that we attend. I love that my child is starting to realize that positive impact ST made on them.

If you are a parent deciding whether to send your child here, please listen to me. I know that you…read moreare scared and that people are telling you that you will lose your child if you don't institutionalize them. Especially if it's your child's school, they are covering for themselves because they see your child as a liability--a statistic waiting to happen. It's better for them if your child suffers or dies in a treatment center while they are not enrolled in their school. If you send your child to Skyland Trail like my parents did, your child will almost definitely not die while they're there, but you will probably lose them in one way or another. Listen to your child and what they need to recover. Your kid might need to take some time off from high school to find what makes them happy, but please do not put them in a facility when they are no threat to others. I am so lucky to have recovered from what I was going through despite my experiences at Skyland. Kids need to be heard and respected, not institutionalized, and programs like these take advantage of your fear and love for your child. The adolescent program is really just another piece of the troubled teens industry. I will be referring to mentally ill adolescents with a history of psychiatric hospitalization involuntary held in a residential facility as patients and not clients. I (16) was verbally and medically abused by my psychiatrist, Dr. Huda Motiwala. She cut me off of my SSRI with no taper as punishment for "acting like I was smarter than her" since I asked to try the antidepressant that had worked for one of my family members. I went through horrible withdrawal. There were multiple health emergencies on weekends with no medical professionals present (a patient was denied their inhaler for 10 minutes during an asthma attack because the nurses hadn't shown up to work, and patients weren't allowed access to their lifesaving medications without them). I was also put on s-cide watch as punishment for stashing food and made to strip naked in front of staff since I was "hiding my self-harm marks" (we figured out they had probably mistaken me for another patient who had told their therapist they were harming). Other patients at the program were sexually assaulted by their peers in front of staff members who did not report the incidents and were fired months later. I lost all internet, family therapy, and phone call "privileges" after I told my parents about some of the abuse, and they asked to have my psychiatrist switched. My parents thought it was sketchy when they were repeatedly told I was didn't want to talk right before our scheduled zoom therapy. They fought for weeks to get me out while administrators tried to convince them to change their minds and purposely made the process as difficult as possible (I didn't know any of this until after my release). *As of 2022, when a patient "graduated" the program, they had to write and deliver an approved testimonial to the other patients and staff to complete the "gratitude" pillar of the program. They also had to write a shorter testimonial on an iPad, eerily similar to the online testimonials Skyland Trail used in their advertising. This was done in front of a therapist with the implication that a more positive testimonial could speed up the discharge process.
