She donated a gift certificate for a photo session to a silent auction for a nonprofit that I am involved with. The person who purchased the photo session ended up not being able to use it, so offered to donate it back to the organization so that an employee could make use of it. I was the first person to respond by email to our development director, so I got the session. I was super excited because I thought that I could just use the session to update my headshots. Nothing fancy, no wardrobe changes. Just my face, looking normal. Well, I called her and she was super rude and seemed extremely annoyed that a. The gift certificate was given to me and b. That I wanted to do head shots and not art prints. She said that the gift certificate isn't for her Delafoto brand but for her Ariane Cecile brand. She told me without mincing words that she donated the gift certificate with the expectation that the auction winner would spend $3000 on art prints. (Yes, $3000.) This was not communicated in any sort of fine print or anything, mind you. So, our patron thought they were doing a nice thing by donating this back. Ultimately, it went to waste. Nonprofits: know that she is not donating to your silent auction out of the goodness of her heart, but to make money off of your patrons. read more

Do not go here. Our experience was awful. The session was fine but she insisted that I spend an hour with her to look at the photos, I told her that as a busy, working mother, I could only spend a half hour with her to review the photos. She refused to see me unless I committed to an hour. Which is odd as I would think she would appreciate the efficiency and I was going to purchase the photos. She would not email the photos either which is stupid as like I said, I had planned to purchase them. To make a long story short, I never saw our photos because she was such a difficult person to work with. And what kind of business person makes buying something so difficult? read more

The worst customer service I've ever had!! We got a session for Christmas from a silent auction. So we didn't know what to expect. Ariane wasn't very friendly during the photo shoot. She asked us what we wanted with the dogs and the pictures. We have two dogs and a small house so we told her we just wanted one print with both dogs even though there were more single dog pictures. Just know that you will have to go back three times due to the fact she won't email you prints to review at home. When we were going over the pictures we told her we just wanted one with the two dogs and she started treating us poorly. I confronted her about this and she out right said she was mad because she wasn't making any money off of us!! (Because she had donated to a silent auction). Yes because that's our fault. Then when we told her we wanted to just have her mail us the one final print that we paid for she said she wouldn't. Then got even more mad at us because we were being difficult! After a heated conversation she finally agreed to mail it. We didn't want to travel 40 minutes in the car one way for the third time just to pick up one print. She asked us why we didn't read the policy's and procedures that was at the bottom of an email. If we had then we would have known that we needed to see her 3 times for one photo. We were trying to tell her that it would be more convenient to have proofs emailed so we can select them at home and then purchase the one we wanted. Instead we felt like we had to come down so she could up sell us on photos. She let us know that people spend thousands of dollars on photos and that's just her way of doing things. I think it's time to consider a better way to run your business and better way to treat people. To top it off she said I wish you would have told me that you only wanted "one" print. So she didn't even listen to us the first time we were in. Turning the conversation back to her telling us why she isn't making money off of us. Worst experience EVER!!! read more

Make sure to read the terms. We read them, but also didn't really expect that we wouldn't even be able to get digital images without visiting her a number of times. We simply do not have the time to commute to Denver and really preferred to see an online gallery and purchase digital photos from there. But she would not accommodate that. Also, anyone pursuing her services should know that-per her terms- her fee is strictly for the "talent and time" and if you actually want photos, you will have to visit her several times and spend several hundred dollars. We purchased this during a silent auction at a fundraiser-mostly to participate in the cause we deeply wanted to support. When we purchased it, there was absolutely no indicator that we would have to spend more when we actually had the session. Had we known that, we probably would not have bid on the selection at the benefit. We chalk it up to experience and know now to do more research before committing to services from someone we have never heard of. read more

Our experience at Delafoto was wonderful. Ariane is very skilled at getting the attention of your pets- our guys were squirming all over and somehow she captured beautiful photos where they look calm and happy. We had a special challenge for her as we took a family portrait with both our cat and dog. The pictures came out wonderfully and we have them to our parents for Christmas. Not the best experience but the pictures turned out great. I have two Golden's that were very anxious and never settled down in the room. Between the camera clicks and the unfamiliar area there was reason in "their" minds to be nervous. I think maybe more time for the dogs to adjust, a few treats, or an additional "pet person" to assist the photographer would have helped. Given that, she did beautiful work with very little cooperation from my dogs. She was able to capture exactly who they are and their expressions. read more

My dog and I attended a Canine Wellness event at CRCG in January and Ariane was there providing free sitting fee's for pet photography. I wasn't sure what to expect so really set no expectation as the event was busy and I honestly was more interested in my dog having the opportunity to socialize and swim. The next day (yes, one day!) I recieved the result of my dog's free photo shoot - Ariane emailed the link to her site which had the photo gallery of my dog. The photo's honestly brought me to tears they were SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! At the time of the photo shoot I had very casually muttered that my dog looked good in ivory....Ariane's choice of background was ivory, she then masterfully lit the subject and the result was breathtaking shots of my beautiful (ungroomed) pet! And I stress ungroomed as you don't notice just how frouzy the dog's coat looks because Ariane's artistic talent shines through in each shot. I'm already very biased (as every dog owner natrually is) and think my doggie is the most beautiful, however Ariane has made her look even more like the reigning Princess that I know she is. All that was missing was her tiara!!!! (maybe next time!) Since then I have ordered prints online (totally painless process), was happy that PayPal was offered as a payment option and again in super fast response time, Ariane confirmed the order and has communicated with personalized emails. I have been coming into Ariane's for roughly four years. During this time, her work and her generosity have blown me away. So, when I saw that her Yelp page has a "two-star" review (keep in mind, I truly expected none to be below a solid "five stars") I was shocked and felt compelled to write something that reflects my past and current experiences. Ariane first contacted me to offer free photography sessions for my rescue animals. I run a senior dog rescue (which now includes senior cats)- a notoriously difficult population to shoot due to special needs such as deafness, blindness, arthritis, dementia, black fur, or all of the above. Ariane has handled my most difficult of cases (the "all-of-the-above" ones) with grace and patience, and the photo results have always been gorgeous. She never fails to capture the best side of the subject and turn what could be the image of an "old, run down" animal to a "regal, proud" one. Her photos have directly led to the adoptions of many of my animals, a fact that I can never thank her enough for. Soon after meeting her, I began to bring my own animals in. This included my 19 year old cat, 16 year old black Pomeranian, 4 year old albino rat, and my (emotionally special needs) 5 year old black Poodle. She was gentle with my old, skinny cat, and managed to get some of the best photos I've ever seen of my impossible-to-photograph Pomeranian. The rat was thrilled to explore her props, and she even managed to charm the Poodle (a difficult feat, to say the least). Additionally, she was able to make experienced recommendations as to which method/material would be the best option for prints. Now that my 19 and 16 year olds, as well as the rat, have passed, her photos serve as an invaluable reminder, and are kept on my mantel. Ariane is talented, and while it may be true that you could go out and find someone willing to give you free digitals and discounted prints, you would truly be missing out on the skills and expertise she offers. I have never met someone more skilled with the camera, and her dedication towards rescue animals makes her even more special. You get what you pay for, and what Ariane gives you is nothing less than incredible. read more

I was truly disappointed with the entire experience. I was instructed to arrive 15 minutes prior to our sitting time so that the dogs could adjust to the room and begin to feel comfortable; I was also told that there was a gap of time before and after my shoot so there would be plenty of time. Arrived for the shoot - doorbell to the studio was broken so we had to call when we got there and wait for someone to come downstairs and let us in. Instead of my dogs being allowed into the room to adjust and get settled, we sat with them leashed in a hallway of an unfamiliar building because Ariane was running behind. Nervous dogs? You bet! Add a cat in there from the people prior to us with a cat aggressive dog and things get super exciting. Go ahead and image how long it take a guard dog to get settled in after that little happening. The Shoot - think of the most stressful situation you have ever been in with your dog...now escalated that a few points. I have 2 very large white dogs (Great Pyrenees). When we arrived 15 mins prior to our sitting time as directed, Arianne was running late with the previous client. Ariane already seemed irritated and/or stressed. I told her on my initial phone call that I had never had photographs done of the dogs as well as the fact that one of them was very stubborn, so for her to get so seemingly frustrated when they didn't cooperate perfectly...or even when I couldn't catch them before they jumped up quickly enough even though I'm going to assume she deals with first time clients often...was disappointing. I would hope if this is your job, you could at least look or act like you enjoy it, but she just seemed frustrated with me and my dogs, but hey I guess we all have bad days. I was also somewhat perplexed with the questionnaire she sent prior to the sitting asking the coloring of the dogs only to arrive and her tell me that my product options would be limited because it would be white-on-white. Why even ask the question if you don't plan on taking that into consideration? Would it have been so hard to turn around and used the black background that was behind us to get a better contrast of color? So, let's get to the super fun part...remember we already have stressed dogs in an unfamiliar environment. She had two assistances on site (come to find out were just her friends volunteering). Well when one of my dogs planted himself in the corner, I look over to witness one of her "assistances" attempting to drag my 120# rescue dog across the floor by the scruff of his neck - furious is an understatement, but I managed to keep my cool for the most part other than correcting her and telling her "we would not be handling my dogs like this." Then, can't remember if it was the same or the second assistance trying to force my other dog to sit by pushing down on his back hips (yeah he has arthritis in his back hips...) - if you ask him nicely he will sit, he doesn't respond to being forced to do something by someone he doesn't know...and OUCH! For such a specialized industry (pet photography) and someone who deals with shooting pets regularly as well as someone who advocates for rescues by donating a percent of sales to them (which is the reason we even chose to do the Christmas special), this was appalling. Thank god my dog didn't have an abusive past, or that assistant dragging my dog across the floor may have set herself up for a lovely bite. Other items of note: Ariane required that I schedule a time to come into the studio to review my pictures and her product offerings, which I did. She had a nice set up with lots of products (i.e., art) to show off and I was able to view the raw shots on a large screen TV. My personal preference would have been to view the shots by myself. She only had 25 raw shots to show my from a solid hour shoot, which I didn't think was very many based on the time we were there. I know what I like and what I don't, so when my dogs looked terrified in the majority of the 25 shots, those were easily a "thumbs down" - I am certainly not going to spend $50/print on something that doesn't even look like my dog. There were only 4 of 25 prints that I was happy with spending money on. I will say the 4 I selected are beautiful shots, but I was seriously disappointed in the selection from which to choose. I felt pressured to buy something other than digital prints, so I decided to purchase Christmas Cards. Selection was limited, disappointed again. I could have just purchased the prints and had a Christmas card made somewhere else. Ariane then had the product shipped to her studio rather than directly to me which I found a bit odd since that required another trip downtown. Cards turned out nicely, was able to download the 4 prints I purchased although did have a few glitches with the system that she had to work out, but overall this certainly wasn't a warm fuzzy experience. read more

I met Ariane at a Christmas photo shoot. I have never had my pets photographed before, so I really didn't know what to expect. Ariane was wonderful. She put me and Merlin at ease. The backgrounds and props really matched my dog's personality. The prints were done promptly and she walked me through the differences in mediums. She even met me at her studio to show me some examples. Ordering was painless, and the print showed up within a short period of time. Ariane is a gifted photographer, whose passion for pets shows with each and every picture. She is a pleasure to speak with, and very creative. Merlin and I will be seeing her again!
