Pizza was very nice! Staff were friendly and efficient. No-one had any complaints about their food, pizza was fresh and hand cooked (I saw it with my own eyes.). Small collection of cold drinks with not much on offer. Coffee was delicious. read more

They are very busy during the lunchtime hours selling their shop made rolls and sandwiches, these are often constructed while you wait, with the rolls having been baked that morning, delicious. They also sell a lot of their shop made pies, which include savory and sweet and can be heated to take away. There is a selection of cold meats and cheeses for you to purchase by the slice or pound and there are also eggs, bacon & cold drinks. The staff are extremely helpful and will construct any combination of sandwich/roll as long as they have the ingredients.

It's not very big, so on a rainy day it's not a good choice. It is fairly pleasant as a place to buy a sandwich and is central, so probably does a good trade with shop assistants. This branch of Fanky and Benny's is very LOUD. I think the best time to go in here is mid morning…read more It is nicely rigged out with pictures of American film stars and other American notables. It's an American 'diner' unlike any diner in America I ever saw. The puddings are fabulous, in fact I often order two desserts instead of a main course. Ideal for families as they do highchairs and crayon packs for children, but I wouldn't subject a young child to the decibels in here. One evening we met a friend at the bar, but I gave up on the conversation as I couldn't hear a thing. If there are four of us at a table we end up relaying the conversation round the table, so I end up with the giggles about ten minutes late. It's never my idea to go there, I don't like shouting at my friends!

Plat's du jour are mainly off the main menu, which defeats the object. A recent lunch had salmon fishcake with a poached egg, and mustard sauce (which was ok but nothing special, and the egg was cold); a spicy warm butternut squash and lentil salad which was acceptable, but barely tepid, and a dry and bitty mushroom risotto. The wine list seems to lack wine by the glass or house wines, and is generally very pricey. A Californian Viognier was pleasant, but dear. All round, to be honest, a disappointment. Food at the HdV chain in the past has been very good, and this wasn't. Service was friendly enough. There is outside space for warm weather.

The meal we had on the weekend was up to their normal excellent standards. The ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant with soft lighting all round and a beautiful tropical fish tank to complete the look. The Balti House is extremely popular, especially on the weekends, so if you are thinking of going the best advice as ever is to book in advance. A call in the day is normally fine but don't be surprised if their is a lengthy wait if you turn up off the cuff.

Staff was helpful and promptly delivered my dish. The garlic chicken was buttery, tasty, hot and fresh. I could hear it sizzling as they cooked it as the restaurant was so quiet and empty. The garlicky, butter sauce was yearning for a crispy piece of Italian bread to mop up the remaining sauce with but alas, none ever arrived. An Italian restaurant serving no Italian bread with dinner? Unheard of unless the waiter forgot because the restaurant was too busy? The accompanying pasta dish was fine, nothing spectacular. Overall, Valentino's menu consists of a limited number of main course selections as well as pizzas. Two beers are offered, both Italian (one on draft, one in bottles). A selection of wines is also available. My waiter disappeared after delivering my dish and a separate waiter brought over my bill -- odd, considering I was one of the only patrons.

I am a constant visitor to Italy and have some amazing friends out there so Gelato is very familiar…read moreto me. In recent years London has opened up some amazing Gelateria's . I have visited Giggi many times in the past and on a recent visit popped in to place a small order and consider them for a larger birthday event and corporate order. The product is as always delightful and well made , its no Vivoli Firenze but its always been good and best in Bournemouth offerings. Unfortunately I had to walk out with no orders placed as I was so offended by the member of staff I was served by. Apparently even though ice cream is priced the same across all flavours and there is a flat fee for a tub I was affronted by an obstructive rule about 2 flavours only !! to quote "thats the rule darling take it or leave it !" , I politely suggested I didn't understand the logic as Gelataria's in both Italy and London serve the flavours you wish she became more patronizing , obstructive and rude. It does not make commercial business sense to refuse an order and previously I had been served multiple flavours , but the staff member just ramped up her level of bad customer service, even her male collegue looked embarrassed. I am sure Luigi Bray the owner who obviously takes pride in his products and offering would be shocked his staff were so nonchalant with his business and reputation. I see the trip advisor excellence aware on premise and website and I hope Giggi retains this but my fear is they wont with a staff member like this on board. I treid to leave details for a call back from the owner but the same staff member just said he would not be interested ...how sad this is Bring back the old Giggi that valued customers , was proud to serve great product to gelato fans and wanted the repeat business I was willing to offer before this terrible experience

I like the fact that you can choose to have cutlery or chopsticks when you are at the table. Service has always been average in the restaurant.
