Fabulous! I feel so spoiled to have such a fun and stellar restaurant in the neighborhood. The food never misses and the service is always excellent. This trip, we filled up on queso fundido - WAY too much for 2 people, but we were able to take the rest home and reheat in a small cast iron). We also got duck enchiladas and barbacoa tamales - both great. And the Fire and Ice cocktail is one of my favorites in the city! I'm always happy with whatever I order, and can't wait to try Sunday brunch soon. Then I ordered their rendition of jerk-chicken and my friend ordered the pork pupusas. I liked my dish but not as much as I liked the pork pupusas. I told another friend about my great experience and we visited on her birthday. I was underwhelmed. The harvest salad was more carrots than greens and was supposedly "shareable" but it truly wasn't. It was a appetizing salad just not enough to share with 3 people. I really talked up the pork pupusas to my friend so we all ordered and they came out looking the same as my first experience but not tasting like that. These pupusas were so salty. We had a great experience at Delicia for our anniversary dinner date. It was easy to make a reservation and the menu looked fantastic! When we arrived, we were seated right away and the staff were helpful and friendly. Ambiance: Very tasteful modern decorations and furniture. They may not be the absolute most practical/comfortable especially if you have mobility problems (a lot of high tops, some steps/very deep seats) but there's some "normal" tables you will probably need to request a reservation for if you have special needs. The music is very unobstrusive and easy to tune out if you're have a good conversation. Our server was also great at checking in, making you feel good about your orders, and keeping waters full. Food: Guacamole - Some of the best guacamole I've had. They do add a healthy dose of lime and spices to give it an extra punchiness that sets it above guacamole you might make at home. It comes with fantastic house-made chips that are thick but still light and airy. Portion is a smidge small but enough for two people to share. 5/5 Queso fundido - Their version of choriqueso which is rich, savory, and slightly smoky. The texture is great, almost like an artichoke dip so very satisfying. Would order this every time I come back. Plenty to share with 4 people. 5/5 Octopus - The octopus itself is incredibly tender and any "seafoodiness" balances out with the roasted potatoes. There's a little green dressing that brightens the whole dish up but nothing particularly mind-blowing that would make me reorder the dish. 3/5 Birria short ribs - Our short ribs came out a little dry and overcooked but man the flavors were superb, especially the rice it was served with. Compose the perfect bite with rice, pickles, and birria and you will fall in love. Would order again in hopes our dry meat was a one-off. 4.5/5 Mar y Tierra - Just a fantastic dish. The ancho coffee rub gives the steak a lovely dark bark that contrasts well with the pan sauce and sautéed peppers. The shrimps are just immaculately cooked and flavorful on their own. Combined with great creamy mashed potatoes, you can't really go wrong with this choice. 5/5 Chipotle pork belly - The chipotle sauce could have been stronger but otherwise the dish is solid. We all gushed over the avocado rice and apple slaw which contrasted the fatty pork belly perfectly. 4/5 Barbacoa empanada - Two puff pastry empanadas that are packed with barbacoa and served with an almost tomato-bisque sauce is an interesting take on empanadas. Very fun and flavorful overall and guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser. 4.5/5 Churros - Perfectly cooked and incredibly light and airy. Five pieces also make it great for table sharing. 5/5 Chocolate flan (special) - I normally am not a flan lover but this was spectacular. The flan was rich with a deep chxocolately flavor and paired with sautéed strawberries, toasted coconut, and a whip that balanced everything out. Super sad this is not part of their standard menu. 5/5 Choco-taco dessert cocktail - This is everything you expect and more. The chocolate and coffee liqueurs are boozy but highly drinkable and the chocolate graham rim makes it just decadent. If you are not the DD, would recommend giving this a try. 5/5 Overall I'd give this place a 4.5 rating. Where Delicia excels is in composition and layering. I'll admit I initially didn't think the short rib or pork belly were THAT amazing at first but when I composed a bite with all the different dish components, they complemented each other beautifully and elevated the dish as a whole. There are multiple flavors and textures in each dish that will hit your palate at different times, Delicia's balance and proportioning of all these elements is impressive. Even their cocktails usually layer elements of smokiness, spiciness, and tanginess that show amazing balance and nuance. While their price point might seem a bit high, I think the chef's creativity and ambition justify it. I would gladly come back again and would recommend at least giving it a try once. read more

Delicia's is one of my favorite restaurants in Indiana because it's incredibly difficult to get good Latin food especially Peruvian. The inside is spacious as they have two sides to the restaurant (left is more calm and quieter while right side is more fiesta side). I also recommend this restaurant to all my friends because they're consistently proving why they should be the next James beard winner. All their dishes are a masterclass of Latin flavors blended with innovation and another one of those examples was the short rib dish where the succulent braised short rib pairs with the expertly layered spices and textures. Went in for dinner yesterday with my husband and the food was so good!! He had made reservations for 8pm, but went in a couple minutes prior and they were able to seat us. The seats were pretty much all filled. Good ambiance going and the interior decor is so Latin inspired with a twist. We ordered some Cafe de olla to start (hubby got it with an orange liqueur shot) and it was so good! My mom has been wanting to try Delicia and what a better day to do it than on Mother's Day! We had a reservation originally for 7:10pm but we arrived early and they were able to sit us down. The ambiance is really nice, low lights, clean, and the seats are comfortable (at least the booth sides). I ordered the empanadas and they were actually amazing. The meat literally melts in your mouth, the sauce has a really nice taste, and the rice was also a nice surprise and citrusy. My mom goes the chile relleno and thought it was also really good. Hard to notice but have to try! I've been living in Indianapolis for the past year and a half. I've passed by Delicia multiple times, always thinking "I wonder what that place is". Finally, I looked it up online and because of its Latin food, had to try. First thing that is quite noticeable is the beautiful decor. It's trendy and fashionable while still giving a swanky vibe. There were all different types of people there. On the cantina side, happy hours and young professionals. On the restaurant side, there were families, singles, and couples. The drinks are great. The smoke & stone was my favorite! I saw that many people had tried the fire n ice, so I got one and while it was delicious it was definitely spicy and very tart. My friend got the American matador which was also a little too tart for my palate, but it was beautiful and had great flavor. We really went all out on the food: got the octopus and ceviche appetizer "para picar". We got the carne asada and the pork belly as well. I like that they switch up the menu seasonally. We LOVE Delicia and usually go a few times a year. This time we went with 2 other couples. The ambiance and service was wonderful as usual! The Caribbean Old Fashioned was delicious. The chips and guacamole and salsa trio were great. I was a little bummed the menu had changed and the wonderful steak dish and Mahi dish they have had for the last few years were no longer options. Then I got excited to try something new flavors and combinations, but we were VERY disappointed. I got the Curried Coconut Grouper. The sauce was tasty, but the fish was not prepared very well. It seemed dry, very fishy, and over cooked. It did not taste very good, and the rice was underdone. My husband got the new Lomo Saltado, but said it was not very good. I first drank a pisco sour in Chile where it's a very common drink (bordering Peru where pisco is from). They were so good. I've never ordered one in the US, let alone even seen pisco on a menu. However, I can confirm a pisco sour at Delicia is just as good as in Chile The red mole pork cheeks were so tender and tasty. A little spicy, with a lot of mole sauce. Oh wow, how has it been 7 years since I first reviewed Delicia? Anyway, definitely time for an update! I had an absolutely delightful dinner here with friends last week on a cold rainy, icy, snowy night. For any reading this who are not Hoosiers, yes, we can get all 3 within an hour or so...we had a 6:30 reservation and were seated right away. I had to get a Fire and Ice cocktail; I thought about trying something different, but this is a favorite of mine and it seemed perfect for the weather! If you haven't tried this it's like a slightly spicy margarita; the rim is coated with a mix that includes chili powder which I absolutely love, but obviously this wouldn't be a good choice for anyone who doesn't like a little heat. We started with the queso fundito with chorizo which was outstanding. Our server recommended it and he did not steer us wrong. It was delicious and a very generous portion that worked well for the three of us. We also shared an order of guacamole which was delicious as well. For my entree, I had the smoked pork pupusas which were so good! The version they make here featured a very generous portion of smoked carnitas piled on the pupusas rather than just filling them. The pork was tender and incredibly flavorful. The slaw and sweet plantains complimented nicely. Service was excellent and everyone was friendly and in a good mood. It really was a perfect evening out! They were busy, but not totally packed on a Thursday night, but I'm guessing the weather probably kept some away, so I would definitely suggest making a reservation. Parking is available in lots in front of and behind the restaurant, but there's also a lot of street parking. Pro tip for anyone from out of town...if you're coming south on College you can't turn left into the lot due to the red line, but you can make a U turn legally at 52nd, which is just past the restaurant and then turn right into the lot...Google maps hasn't added this yet... read more

Visited Delicia with two girlfriends for my birthday one weekend eve. We made reservations through Resy which I highly recommend, as it's not a large restaurant and gets busy fast. I was seated promptly as soon as I arrived and waited for my friends. The decor has remained consistent since opening here, which isn't a bad thing! I love the open concept dining space and modern, cozy feel. The dining room tables/booths sit parallel to the large bar area. As I waited, the server offered to bring me a drink and confirmed we were there to celebrate a birthday. She was quite attentive and friendly throughout our visit. We ordered a mushroom appetizer (that we saw on the table next to us). along with chips and guac, then entrees and drinks which were all served promptly. The mushroom appetizer was amazing! Glad the couple next to us extolled it's virtues. I also appreciate that Delicia always has at least one vegan option and several other vegetarian choices. I chose the Trinidadian curry with shrimp, one friend had fish tacos and the other chose a fish entree special. We all agreed that the food was delicious, beautifully presented and unique. One friend brought in a carrot cake from it outside bakery. The server was gracious enough to plate and serve it for a small cutting fee and we were able to visit a bit after dinner. The Walleye was superbly cooked, super crispy on one side as if there was still skin and super soft, flakey, and tender everywhere else. The spring onion salsa and capers on top were so complimentary and to die for. The patatas bravas with arugula and garlic aoili were the icing on the cake. Finally got to Delicia after it being on my list for a year. Went during Devour but didn't do the Devour menu. Had reservations with my mom for an earlish dinner. Great location and great decor. Couldn't decide on an appetizer, and the whole menu looks amazing, so instead we got the entree Shrimp Curry as our "app." It was great. It was my mom's favorite dish of the evening. For entrees I got the jerk chicken and she got the Mahi. The jerk chicken isn't your traditional jerk that you'd get but it was this amazing twist. The hot honey that they put on it really sets it off. The Mahi and curry were awesome together. I think I liked the chicken the most. Somehow we had room for dessert and got the churros! Best churros I've ever had. Comes with a chocolate dipping sauce that's good, but I think they are better on their own! Next time I'll definitely be trying the mofongo or the scallops. I think I may go here once every 2 weeks until I try everything on the menu. It's probably my 2nd favorite Indianapolis spot behind Vida.
