Very spacious grocery store with tons of variety. This place isn't like a typical grocery store and you won't find aisles of name brand processed food products. Their produce takes up most of the store, followed by the bakery. I wish I could shop here every time I needed food, but the prices are beyond the budget of my family. There's nothing like visiting a great local farmers market paired with perfect fall weather, and this place nailed it! The market didn't look big at all from the outside, but as you walk inside, the place is huge compared to other farmers markets I've been to. The market is clean, organized, and well stocked. It was a busy Saturday afternoon with lots of free samples to choose from.  The smell of freshly baked pies, apple cider donuts, cookies, and all other sorts of pastries is heaven to me! The different flavors of apple cider is delicious! And I can't forget the freshly deep fried apple fritters cooking outside, greeting you as you walk out. There's nothing like freshly ground and brewed coffee beans ready for purchase. They also have an abundance of tea flavors to choose from. Their freshly ground peanut butter and other types of nut butter is a must to check out. The different types of apples, citruses, whole nuts, cheeses, and potatoes are insanely available. There are sections of veggies, seafood, and meat for all your shopping needs with many organic options to choose from. They even have a juice bar cafe made to order - awesome! I can't wait for my next visit to Jersey to see family members and this market. From now on it will always be part of my itinerary when in town and hopefully do some fruit picking when in season. This is one of the best farmers markets in NJ . They sell very fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, seafood, coffees/teas, candy, jams, local honey, and even have a very large in house bakery. I've been living in NJ for over a decade and they have expanded some areas over the years in the market to include an increasing selection of organic produce, prepared foods, couple food stands, juice and smoothie bar, ice cream shop, and more frozen items. The outside is usually beautifully decorated to reflect the seasons/holidays. This fall season, they decorated the outside like a fall festival with hay bales, pumpkins of different color, shapes and sizes, scarecrows,and some halloween decorations. I took away a star because everything is expensive here! If you live in Colts Neck, Holmdel, and Red Bank, you don't car so much, but for the rest of us you can go elsewhere to get your groceries and save some money. The best part of the of Delicious orchards are their baked goods and apple cider which are both great. Their pies are decent. I like their pumpkin pie. The filling is light, cinnamon is not overwhelming and has a light honey taste. I also like their cider donuts. you can't leave here without buying a couple of bags, especially the cinnamon and original. Another must try is their apple cider! This market has a lot to explore! When in season, you can come here for some berry picking. Delicious orchards also has a few festivals every year. I've been to the apple festival before and it gets really crowded! Parking and leaving is a pain! There is live entertainment, local vendors, and entertainment for the kids. It's fun for the entire family. Come by and see for yourself. read more

Your experience at Delicious Orchards is going to depend A LOT on the time of year and time of day that you decide to go. If you go on a weekend, especially in the fall, during the middle of the day, you're going to feel overwhelmed with crowds and lines. Anyway, we went this past Saturday at lunch time. First we went into the farmers market to check things out and decide what we wanted to eat for lunch. Basically the only real option was to stand outside in line where they had paninis, sandwiches, soups, hot dogs, etc. We waited in line for about 25 minutes to get some lunch, and didn't have too hard of a time finding a table where we could sit and eat. The food wasn't spectacular but it wasn't bad, either. The paninis were pre-made, so that degrades the quality slightly. Honestly, though, the meal was totally fine - all things considered. Once we finished eating we decided to go back inside to shop. Unfortunately for us by the time we finished with our meal there was a gigantic line to get into the actual market. So, we waited in that line and then were so overwhelmed with the lack of breathing room that we basically just left. I think you could have a really nice time if you go early in the morning and avoid all the crowds. There are lots of things that I would have liked to explore more, but it was just impossible with the number of people crammed into the space. Thankfully parking was free and easy, so that was one thing that you don't have to worry about. If I could do it over again, I would go much earlier in the morning and do breakfast there instead of lunch. Delicious Orchards is an autumn (and year round) wonderland. Great food, and a lot of items you'd have trouble finding elsewhere. The standouts to me are their baked pies and the apple cider donuts. I always like to come here in the fall and winter because delicious orchards always reflect the seasons. Their outdoor displays are always nicely decorated to reflect them. There is a huge variety of fresh foods, including a large organic section. It's probably one of the top fresh food markets in the state. And they are fully aware of this: hence you will pay top dollar for many of their items. Shop carefully, know what you're looking for, and by all means eat before you go. I did a test run today cuz I was in the area. Their bakery department is always excellent. In the past I have gotten pies here for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Try to avoid DO during the weekends, for parking/traffic on this property can be quite frustrating. I said hello to one of the managers that I know in the fruit/vegetable department. Delicious Orchards is an absolute dream and a half. I'd shop here everyday if it didn't mean an hour drive out to Colts Neck and death by pie overload. Luckily, when I'm down at my parents new digs in Manalapan I'm not too far from this whimsical grocery shop. Everything is so perfect, that it nearly looks fake. In the produce section you'll find shiny and vibrant fruit without a bruise or a scratch in sight. In the bakery area there are plentiful amounts of pies, biscuits and of course, their infamous apple cider cakes and donuts. Although I typically come in for produce or baked goodies it's a full service supermarket with meat, dairy, dry goods and anything else you could possibly need. They've also got an area with homemade coffee and fresh ground peanut butter. Outside you'll find some seasonal activities and food stands as well. During the summer there's an ice cream cart and during the fall months you can sit out amongst the foliage and grab a hot apple cider and donut combo. The prices are definitely a tad higher then your run of the mill supermarket, but that's because this is anything but an ordinary grocery experience. My husband and I have shopped at DO several times over the past few years and enjoyed what we have purchased. For the past few years we have sent gift baskets to several of my husband's co-workers for various occasions. Last week we received a gift box and were so disappointed in the quality. We had to throw away the brownies, cake and cookies as they were all rancid. The donuts were just ok. Not what I would expect from this pricey store. Delicious Orchards may just be one of my favorite places in Jersey. My fiance grew up with Delicious Orchards and introduced me to it the first trip we took together. Ever since then, I've been hooked! Now, I put in a request to visit Delicious Orchards every time we come to town. We just missed picking our own raspberries when we were there earlier this week... bummer. It's fun to just walk around and look at all of the fresh products this place carries. Their bakery alone is pretty amazing with all kinds of pies, muffins, cookies, donuts, pastries, breads, cakes, and more. The produce looks so fantastic, you want to buy one of everything. And if you are looking for gourmet candy, savory snacks, jams, deli meat, or flowers, they've got you covered as well. The only reason I am taking off a star is that during our recent visit, the guys working outside were more interested in chatting with each other than they were with helping the customers... We ordered a sandwich and a few of bowls of soup (minestrone, pumpkin squash, and chicken noodle) and ate some of it right outside. There's something about eating on site that makes everything taste better. From there, Jared took me to a nearby apple orchard and recited the Cider House Rules... (review on that coming soon). I was here for their annual Apple Fest! My nephews were super excited to see a line up of at least 20 antique cars being displayed right behind the crazy big market here on Delicious Orchards. There were a couple of games, face painting, farm animals for petting, clowns twisting up balloon animals, and live music. The line for their apple fritters was worth the wait. Delicious Orchards' famous apple cider was fantastic, the cider slushes were also a big hit. We missed out on their seasonal apple ice cream, but they offered other flavors, including Toasted Coconut and Black Raspberry, both delicious. Got our hands on some apple flavored cotton candy, apple pie, and some pastries before heading back home. read more

One of my favorite food stores in New Jersey. They have their own AMAZING apple cider and apple cider doughnuts, available for purchase in packs or individually. The rest of their baked goods are also exceptional and there is quite the variety - cookies, macaroons, cheesecake, an array of breads, butter cookies and oh-my-goodness their pie selection! Most notable baked goods: mini apple crumb and their cheese danishes. Wonderful. I think I'm particularly impressed by their produce section - they have items that are a little difficult to come by elsewhere. Chanterelle mushrooms, among some other varieties, fingerling potatoes and fingerling sweet potatoes, sugar cane, mini pineapples, currants, persimmons - the list goes on and on. It's a good place to search for items on a recipe that are not stocked in a normal grocery store on a regular basis. It's always well-maintained, including the samples around the space that are constantly replenished, although generally they are the same samples. After going through the store, I'd recommend stopping by their little outside cafe. They often have a number of homemade soups which they're happy to give you a sample of, plus hot or cold apple cider and of course the infamous apple cider doughnuts. Having mentioned the wonderful positives, there is one drawback that must be said, and that is to try to avoid going on the weekends. Especially during the autumn season. It's pretty crazy. Although to their credit, even during the busiest of times, I never had to wait too long on line for a cashier; they have plenty of them. (*Closed on Mondays.*) read more

What an amazing market!! We wanted to bring back to New York pies and fresh produces and we were served!! To start off, the place is gigantic and beautiful! It feels like you enter an organized and pristine barn. The famous apple cider donuts are here to welcome you as you enter the Alibaba's cavern of food wonders. Of course, we got a pack of the regular donuts, not the glazed ones and they were as fabulous as previous reviewers' ravings. On the left, you have part of the bakery, we almost indulged in the coffee cake crumb monster displayed, and made our way to the famous pie counter! We couldn't try any, not sure if it's because it was Saturday or a new policy. That didn't discourage us from bringing an apple crumb pie and a peach crumb pie. Both are yet to be determined on tasty lane, but I am pretty confident our family friends' receivers of the priced pies will enjoy them. We made our way through the store sampling delicious peaches, in season; sampling apple cider that tasted more like true Apple juice - we bought a gallon. We kept on wandering the lines and ended up face to face with a tray of granola samples. Oy vey. We tried all of them and bought a pound. Then around the corner, you have the nut butter station. It's just unfair. So unfair. Hahaha. We left with the 100% peanut butter (so we can share it with our dog) but the best one of all was the honey roasted peanut butter. Oh. Em. Gee! I stopped in the other day for lunch after a haircut at Justin's in Colts Neck and decided on a chicken salad sandwich on white bread with a side of Yukon Gold fries. The fries were awesome - hot and crispy and a good sized portion as well. The sandwich, which comes on their home baked bread was just so-so. I totally agree with my other reviewers; Delicious Orchards is the best! I moved to Monmouth County during the late '60s, when this part of New Jersey was still a sleepy suburb / rural area. It wasn't long before I discovered Delicious Orchards, and I visited it often during my 25-year stay. I have no reservations in saying that the Orchards is one place I truly, truly miss! Delicious Orchards is *the* place to go for quality and selection; you won't find a greater selection of the best-quality produce and fruit unless you're a farmer growing your own! And they aren't limited to their fruits and produce; the bakery and deli departments are to die for, as are the selections of coffees, teas and condiments from around the world! Joe K. says, "Get there early around any holiday or you won't get into the store...." How very true! I'd suggest you do the bulk of your shopping several days before a holiday (particularly, Thanksgiving and Xmas). If things haven't changed (and I don't expect that they have), you can pre-order your baked goods and make a reservation as to when you will be by to pick up your order. This can keep you from having to wait an hour or more simply to get into the store! (Although, they do set up a tent during nasty, cold weather, and you are able to get an apple donut and hot cider while you're waiting in line!) Being a local boutique grocery store, it is a little more expensive than say Shop Rite. However, they do have high quality ingredients and sometimes stuff you can't find anywhere else. Their deli is Boar's Head and pretty reasonably-priced, though. The reason why I personally love this place is their own in-house stuff. I personally recommend the apple cider, brownies, apple cider donuts, and apple crumb pie. The chocolate chip cookies are really good if you heat it for a few minutes in a toaster oven at home. They also have some pretty good prepared stuff like soups, and a small cafe and sitting area on the way out outdoors. Definitely worth it to come here, take in the rustic vibe, and pick up a few treats that'll leave you looking for any excuse to come back in the future. read more

California gal here and I have a confession: I would swear off any west coast allegiance I have if it meant having a DO next door to me. Whenever I visit my aunt in Marlboro, I make sure we make a trip here to buy apple cider, pies, dried fruit, and visit the storefront where they sell fresh apple fritters and apple cider slushy in addition to sandwiches and snacks. What's not to love about Delicious Orchards? The store lies on sprawling, beautiful grounds with ample parking. The layout is really organized so you know exactly where to get the baked goods, meats, cheeses, produce, coffee varietals, chocolates, candies, and APPLE CIDER. They also have an amazing variety of flowers and greens. I love how festive they are as well. When a holiday is around the corner, DO is pulling out all the stops. Ghost and pumpkin-shaped cheeses for Halloween, fresh smelling wreaths everywhere for Christmas, Stars and Stripes on everything for the 4th of July. I remember when DO was a place that catered to locals with some if the best products around. Much has changed in 20 something years. Don't get me wrong, they still have decent stuff. However it has become a bit of a tourist trap and it seems they have embraced this new identity. On my most recent visit more than half the cars in the full lot were from New York. They were even picnicking in the parking lot. I saw a guy filling his giant coolers with produce. Understand, I have no problem with New Yorkers. My wife is from Long Island. I guess I don't understand why people drive here to buy produce. Don't they grow vegetables in NY? I can't help it....its the piney in me. So this little store gets filled with people to the point you can't shop here comfortably. That said, the prices are good, the products are excellent quality, and although the bakery isn't as good as it used to be, it's still excellent. They also have out of the ordinary products here. We bought an awesome hot sauce here last year and many years ago bought these little bottles of flavored powdered coffee creamers that were amazing. Look in the nooksand crannies for these odd products. They're always a treat. So if you're local, do yourself a favor and get here during the week to avoid the crowd. So first of all, these are not orchards where you can go to pick fruits. This is a grocery store that has an in house bakery and is more like Whole Foods/Trader Joe's. We visited the place by mistake but looking at the crowd, definitely is one of the more popular stores in the area. Their bakery items were reasonably priced. Apart from the usual fruits and vegetables, they had Brussels, apple cider, in house nut butters and organic honey. And the good thing was they had a lot of samples throughout the store. The presentation was wonderful and there were always workers to help pick out the perfect melon. Love this store. Please try it. It's worth the extra few cents. And do try the ready made food.
