We had a lot of questions and issues toward the end of my pregnancy and having them available to us was truly invaluable. The team was constantly on hand to talk through whatever came up and to help us navigate challenging situations. Having Jackie at the hospital with us was amazing - she worked seamlessly with all the doctors and nurses at GW and lifted our spirits after several challenges during labor and delivery. We can't imagine going through this process without her. The services provided are well worth the price. The classes and workshops were extremely helpful and informative. Words truly cannot do justice regarding how amazing Michele is and how much my husband and I would recommend her and Ashley's services. Run, don't walk, and hire her! :) Not only is Michele knowledgeable and talented regarding anything and everything prenatal, labor/delivery, and postpartum, but she brings the added layer of being approachable, honest, hilarious, and unbelievably encouraging. I recommend Ashley 1000%. She was our doula for our birth on 1/20/19. From the moment we met, I felt comfortable with her, and we geeked out over birth stories and birth facts. I was able to text her every time I had a false labor alarm, and it was so easy to keep her updated as I got closer to my due date. It felt just like texting a friend. We weren't going to have a doula this time around, but when I found out at 34 weeks that I couldn't have my midwife deliver me, I knew I wanted a familiar face at my birth. When my water broke 5 days before my due date, and things intensified quickly, Ashley talked me through everything and met us at the hospital right when we arrived. She brought twinkle lights and essential oils to make me feel more at home, and was a ROCK STAR at helping me with my back labor. When I arrived at the hospital I was 4cm dilated, but quickly went to a 7 within 30 minutes. Ashley was there for every contraction, pressing on my back and helping me breathe. When I asked for the epidural, even though I had an unmedicated birth plan, Ashley started to encourage me further, but quickly realized I was dead serious about those meds!!! Overall, Ashley was present but didn't overshadow my husband. She made it easy for him to support me. During our postpartum visit we talked about nursing (she's a lactation consultant too!!) and talked through what happened during my birth. Ashley was amazing. I am SO GLAD I had her by my side. She was a priceless resource during my (first) pregnancy this year. We met early on and I would text/call her with questions when I was uncertain what I was feeling or uncomfortable at home and she would talk me through with insightful suggestions and solutions. She was by our side throughout my lengthy labor, at home and at the hospital. She was magnificent - comforting, supportive and encouraging all at once. Never felt any pressure from her to have any specific kind of birth, she is there to do whatever you're interested in and to help you have that experience. It was wonderful to have her postpartum support as well. To know that she would be meeting us a few days later as we were leaving the hospital as terrified first time parents was extremely comforting! And I absolutely needed the assistance of a lactation consultant so to have her already lined up with that appointment was fantastic. I wouldn't do this again without her! Only thing I would do differently in the future is to hire her for overnight support as well (at least once a week, for the first 4 - 6 weeks!) read more

I made the decision to search for a doula because I've heard so many positive things about their role during labor and delivery. I am a first time mom and I wanted to have someone beside me who would encourage me, inform me, and coach me in the delivery room. When Ashley arrived at the hospital, she walked me through the correct breathing techniques which made my contractions more bearable. She gave me massages and made me as comfortable as possible during the contractions. She even fanned me when I was complaining about being too hot. I loved her and her bag of goodies & tricks!lol. She wiped my face down with some type of refresher wipes before I started to push. Like WHO thinks of that! Ashley was everything I expected and MORE! When the nurses bombarded me with different requests, Ashley was there to step in and reassure me that I did not have to yield to their every word. She gave me alternatives. She made me realize that despite some of the things that the nurses wanted to do I had a choice. The nurses at the hospital were also pleased with Ashley! One nurse asked me where did I find her because she was impressed with her work ethic and knowledge. Ashley helped me create and enforce my birth plan during the labor and delivery process. My partner and I were very happy to have chosen Delivered Doulas for the birth of our first child. We selected them after an online interview that jus clicked perfectly - their caring personalities, data-driven scientific approach, and breadth and depth of knowledge and experience (plus a reasonable fee for all that they provide!) made them the perfect choice for both of us. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, their support, advice, and 24/7 availability during the pregnancy and labor and delivery (post partum too!) was exceptional. We benefitted from having them as constant support and advice - EVEN though they couldn't be in the hospital with us. When we were passed from one care provider to the next due to COVID, they were the continuity of support and knowledge of our particular situation that we needed. I cannot recommend Ashley highly enough - honestly, I don't know how I would have made it through the birth of our daughter without her! As a first-time mom, I knew that I wanted the support of a doula, and there are several to choose from in the area. However, from the first meeting, Ashley stood out above the rest with her warm, positive, encouraging attitude, her patience to answer my many questions, and her ready support whatever the circumstances. Ashley came to meet us at the hospital the moment we were ready for her, and was by my side through the long labor and after delivery. She gave the best back massages, coached me into different positions, and had water, juice, and even my chapstick on hand exactly when I needed it! She knew what I needed before I did and it was such a relief to be taken care of so well. Perhaps most importantly, Ashley advocated for me with the nurses based on my preferences and her experience - not in a confrontational way, but firmly and kindly. This was critical towards the end of my labor when we had a junior nurse attendant, and the nurse deferred to Ashley's suggestions for positioning me when the midwife agreed with Ashley's course of action. Without pressing any agenda, Ashley made sure I understood what was going on, what was being recommended, and offered her own wisdom when asked. It was the perfect balance. Lastly, the postpartum visit with Ashley was wonderful. We had real talk about the birth experience and being a new mom, all my worries and emotions, and talking with Ashley was like talking with your best friend (who knows just about everything related to childbirth and babies!) She is the most supportive and kind person - exactly who you want by your side at such an incredible time. We had an absolutely great experience with Ashley serving as the doula for the birth of our second child. We went without a doula for the birth of our first child, in part because I was a bit resistant to the idea, not having a clear idea of what role a doula served. And while that first labor was successful and gave us a healthy little girl, having now experienced being at my wife's side through two labors - both with and without a doula - I would wholeheartedly recommend to other dad's that (1) you want a doula, and (2) you want Ashley. From the moment we met her, the things that really stood out about Ashley were her calming presence and the depth of her knowledge and expertise. Calling a nurse hotline with questions sometimes feels like a dice roll depending on who answers the phone, but with Ashley we always had someone we trusted who was just a text away with answers, suggestions, and encouragement. When my wife went into false labor a few weeks early, Ashley came over to our house at a moment's notice, sat with us for hours until it was clear we wouldn't be heading to that hospital that day, and most importantly never once made us feel like the false alarm was an imposition on her time. And during labor, Ashley struck the perfect balance - I always felt like I had plenty space to be there as my wife's partner and primary support, but Ashley was always present, anticipating needs before I saw them, communicating with the nurses in the background, helping guide me in how to best give comfort measures to my wife, and even taking pictures for us after the delivery. It's been a little over year since the birth of our daughter, and I am still glad that we decided to work with Delivered Doulas. We had procrastinated on finding a doula, so I ended up meeting Ashley very late in the process, only a few weeks before I had to have an induction. For anyone on the fence, doubting whether you need a doula - we were in your shoes and let me tell you: hiring Ashley as our doula was hands down the BEST decision we made leading up to our delivery day. We faced a lot of skepticism about this decision: 1) Our families told us we didn't need a doula and that it would interfere with our experience having a third person in the room -- however, we experienced the COMPLETE opposite, as Ashley's guidance helped us feel more connected with each other and to the experience of bringing our daughter into the world. 2) My husband was skeptical through the pregnancy whether the investment would be "worth it". We pride ourselves on being good planners and we were preparing by taking classes and reading (a lot!) -- however, the actual day went very differently than we thought it would and Ashley's experience was indispensable. Now, my husband will tell you that we couldn't have had the incredible birth experience that we had without Ashley. As a first-time mom, I knew I wanted to hire a doula and all the benefits that a doula could provide, but Ashley blew me away. From our first interaction, we felt we were in good hands. We had interviewed a few other doulas, but there is just something about Ashley's warm demeanor, the way she presents her wealth of knowledge, and her positivity that sets her apart. He was born mid April so due to COVID they were not able to be with us in person but we still really valued the support. My husband and I were so happy to have Ashley as our doula. We knew that she would be amazing from the day we met her. She has the calming, down to earth personality that we were looking for. Throughout my pregnancy, she was a great support answering all of our questions, providing insight, and comfort. Ashley and Michele are amazing!  We were so lucky to get to know both of them during this process of our first child being born.  Ashley ended up being our doula, and I honestly could not have gotten through it without her.  It took away a lot of the stress of the unknown, and allowed my husband to enjoy the experience too rather than having to shoulder the responsibility of birth coach.  Ashley and Michele were always available for questions before I went into labor, and I texted them throughout early labor (I labored at home from about 11 PM - 7 AM) and then headed to the hospital.  We arrived at the hospital at 8 AM, and our baby was born at 2 PM.  Ashley helped me through all of my questions that cropped up during labor, explained what was happening the whole time, and most importantly, coached me through my worse contractions. I got an epidural towards the end (though may not have needed one) and had an easy vaginal delivery.  I always felt supported by Ashley in each decision I made. Her coaching was so calming, almost like a yoga teacher or therapist, and as soon as a contraction came I was glued to her words.  Her presence took the fear and stress out of the birthing process for me, and I was able to experience its magic.  Highly recommend! read more

Ashley was the perfect doula: calming, knowledgeable, present, and patient. She gave us an informative mini-class on labor and birth, and was responsive to our messages as the big day neared. Our first child was born in early March and we can't say enough good things about our experience with Delivered Doulas. Michele, Jackie and Ashley were all fantastic. The workshops really helped us understand what we were looking for in our birth experience and in feeling prepared for labor. And when we had questions or concerns outside of workshops, the team was always there to provide both helpful answers and the reassurance that we needed. Our plan was to have a natural birth with few, if any, interventions. Unfortunately, our little person had other plans, and I ended up having an induction, an epidural, and, finally, a c-section. I felt comfortable with Ashley the moment my husband and I met her and it was an easy choice to hire her as our doula. Ashley remained calm and kept us positive during what became a marathon birth. We decided to hire a doula since we were first time parents, from Europe, so far from our family and friends and a bit lost regarding the medical system in the US. We met Ashley and immediately knew that it was going to be reassuring to have her by our side. During the first meeting, she really listened and respected our "birth plan", understood our concerns and choices and already suggested solutions and tips. We met with her at 36 weeks to plan for the D-Day. She was really reassuring and gave us a lot of advice regarding positions in order to cope with the pain, and we went through the whole process of birth. We chatted a lot that evening and I felt super confident when she left. We had a super long labor (26 hours at home and 26 hours at the hospital) and as soon as she arrived home we worked on positions and breathing technics to ease my pain and also to "speed up the dilatation" - it worked super well and went to the hospital. Deciding to hire her was our best decision regarding the birth, she never left our side, it allowed my husband to "take a break" and take a shower or grab a coffee. She made sure I was super comfortable, explained and made sure that we understood the different medical procedures, and we even laughed (a lot actually). I was hesitant at the beginning because I wanted the birth to be 100% with my husband and was afraid to have an invasive doula - Ashley was the complete opposite, she has sensors and understand when we need to be "just the two of us". I called her "Mary Poppins" because she has a bag full of surprise to make you feel better, safe and make this experience even more incredible. I recommend both Michele and Ashley to anyone unsure about using a doula. I'm so grateful for them. We decided to use a doula for our second pregnancy because I wanted a VBAC. Right away I felt like they understood my wishes and I could go to them for any questions because they would always point me to fact-based guidance. Although I had Ashely as "my" doula, they worked so well together that I would've felt comfortable if they had to switch at the last moment. My pregnancy took an unexpected medical turn at the last moment (just like it did in my first pregnancy,) but this time I had Ashely to help me talk to doctors and navigate the physical and emotional trauma of an emergency c-section. My husband was grateful to have Ashley when he was torn between going with the baby to the NICU and making sure I was taken care of. FROM MOM: Ashley supported my husband and I in the delivery of our daughter in April 2017. She was wonderful and I highly recommend her. If you want to know why, read on! Ashley's professionalism: Ashley was always available, I don't recall ever having to leave a voicemail, but if I did, I suspect it would have been returned immediately. The same can be said for text messages and emails. She clearly communicated what her services covered and accurately set our expectations. It is obvious that she loves what she does and that it is important to her that her clients have the best possible experience. Pre-labor: My pregnancy lasted 42 weeks and after 40 weeks my provider became very pushy with induction and very vocal about any and all complications that can arise in a longer pregnancy. The last 10 days of my pregnancy were by far the most stressful and my trust in my provider totally disappeared. Ashley was an incredible moderating voice. She acknowledged the risks the doctor shared and provided me with additional resources so that I could make an unbiased, informed decision. Labor and Delivery: Leading up to labor Ashley was a boundless source of encouragement and regularly checked-in to see how I was doing. Once labor finally started, Ashley was a calming presence. Through her guidance I was able to get my labor firmly established and was able to labor at home much longer than I would have if we'd gone it alone. Ashley was an incredible advocate for me in labor and delivery while also maintaining great respect for the staff at the hospital. During labor I experienced several complications and the doctor quickly offered a cesarean section. Ashley provided invaluable guidance and knowledge that allowed me to feel comfortable continuing to push. As my labor progressed more complications arose and I ended up needing to go the c-section route. The hospital allowed only one additional person in the operating room and I knew it would be my husband. Prior to heading into the OR Ashley explained to us what might happen and how I might react to the drugs. Without that warning the experience would have been much scarier. Post-delivery: Our daughter was born at 3:37 a.m., I'm not sure what time Ashley left the hospital but she returned the same morning to check-in on my husband and me. At our post-partum check-in Ashley provided me with invaluable guidance that helped me reverse the breastfeeding death spiral I had gotten in at the hospital and establish a breastfeeding relationship with my daughter. Without Ashley I would have doubted my decisions and would have regrets about how my experience unfolded. That peace of mind Ashley afforded us is priceless. read more

Jackie was our doula and I can't imagine what it would've been like to give birth without her. We met with all 3 doulas for our initial call and felt really confident that any one of them would be great, but Jackie did both our intake and was on call when I went into labor. She was in constant contact by text and phone for the first part of labor and when I felt like I really needed to start heading to the hospital, she was over to our home in 30 minutes and encouraged me to stay home another few hours and progress further (one of my goals). We had to make changes to our birth plan, some that we chose and some that were medically necessary, but I felt confident in all of our choices and it was a huge help to have Jackie there explaining what was happening and supporting our decisions. She also took some absolutely priceless photos of the moment they put my daughter on my chest and I'm so grateful to have them. Our labor was about 30 hours and Jackie was with us for nearly 24 hours -- she was a rockstar. Jackie came to visit the week after our little one was born to check on us and helped provide some breastfeeding tips as well as trying out new positions with us and recommending some research to answer specific questions we had. I highly recommend Delivered Doulas! We hired them right before I entered my third trimester, which happened to correlate with the start of lockdown. While we were skeptical at first of the prospects of all the trainings happening online and a potential "virtual doula" to accompany us for the birth of our first baby, I'm happy to say we were incredibly lucky to find them. They truly went above and beyond to provide information, knowledge and resources during this uncertain time for new parents, and I can't say enough how supported I felt by them, and still do, one month post partum. Michele joined us virtually for the birth and has been of tremendous help these past few weeks helping trouble shoot breastfeeding questions and concerns. She helped us effectively advocate for the type of birth we were hoping for while in the hospital, even though she wasn't physically in the room. She was so great to educate and encourage both my wife and I throughout the whole pregnancy. I knew I wanted a doula but picking who to work with is difficult. Ashley was recommended to me by a co-worker. Although we interviewed several other doulas, ultimately, Ashley's calm yet knowledgeable presence was the best fit for us. She checked in with me throughout my pregnancy and made sure we had the information we needed. Although I did lots to prepare for our birth, having her to help me was a invaluable. I am so happy with my experience with Delivered Doulas and with Jackie specifically. Jackie provided the calm, confident support that I was precisely looking for during my vaginal, unmedicated birth and in my first few weeks as a first-time mother. The prenatal workshops hosted by Delivered Doulas were extremely helpful to prepare for the birth and postpartum period. Somehow through just a few interactions before the birth, I felt I could trust Jackie's judgement and experience, which gave me great confidence going into labor. During the delivery, Jackie's steady presence and tips helped me manage my pain and keep me and my husband focused and confident that I could labor on without medication. Jackie has also been an invaluable source for breastfeeding advice postpartum, which I credit in great part for being able to establish an adequate milk supply and allowing my preemie baby girl to more than recover the weight she lost after birth within two weeks. Michele of Delivered Doulas was a huge asset and critical component during the birth of our second child. Though we'd been through the experience previously, both my husband and I knew we wanted to hire a doula the second time around. Michele arrived at the hospital for my scheduled induction once my OB decided they were going to break my water, and boy am I glad she knew that was the perfect time to come! She came, they broke my water and things kicked into gear pretty quickly, just as Michele anticipated. She provided suggestions for contraction relief, various techniques, positions, etc... that helped me work through the pain. She was also super helpful to my husband so that he could assist me. Though I was hoping to go epidural free, I was never super hard core and 100% against it. When I announced that I wanted the epidural Michele was perfect at both balancing some questions about what I really wanted to do with also being supportive of what I would ultimately decide. I appreciated a bit of push back from her to ensure I was doing what I truly desired. Throughout pushing Michele had great suggestions, calmed fears when the baby's heart rate dropped and was an incredible advocate for us with the OB and nurses. Michele worked seamlessly alongside the nurses and doctors in a way that made me confident in knowing they had mutual respect for each other, their techniques, decisions and jobs. Michele was wonderful immediately after birth making sure our son latched and following up at our home and offering some further breastfeeding support when my milk was slow to come in. We love Michele and can't imagine having had our son without her! read more

When my husband and I made the decision to try for a second child, one of the things I wanted to do differently this time around was to find a doula who could be a support through pregnancy and the birth process. I highly recommend Ashley. After having a negative birth experience with our first child, we decided to find a doula to support our second birth. We were looking for someone who would provide a calming, positive presence and someone who would be able to work with us and the doctors and nurses to talk through our options and help us make decisions. I am so pleased with the services that Ashley provided for us. During our pre-birth consultation, she listened carefully about what we were looking for and provided literature and information to helps us feel prepared. During the birth, she gave excellent guidance on positioning and breathing and worked in tandem with my husband to support me through contractions. She worked with the nurses to ensure that they were getting what they needed, while successfully advocating for me to be able to labor in my preferred positions. While I was pushing, she was a great cheerleader and gave helpful reminders about techniques to use to minimize tearing. After the birth, she stayed around to talk about how things went and answer any questions we had about the birth. In the days after birth, I had some issues with breastfeeding and Ashley spoke with me multiple times on the phone, and even rearranged her schedule to come to my home and help. I had an amazing experience with my second birth, and a major reason for that was because we had Ashley supporting us. I recommend her without reservation to anyone who is looking for a calm, level-headed, and kind doula. read more

We had a truly great experience with Ashley as our doula. The support that she provided both my wife and myself during our long delivery was incredible. It was important for us to have a doula that allowed us to have the birth experience that we wanted, not project any ideas on us, and Ashley did exactly that. She provided me with much needed breaks, words of encouragement, and tips to help support my wife throughout the process, and stayed thru the night after the birth to ensure that the baby was able to breastfeed. In addition she provided us with great information on what to expect the following days, and visited us a week after the birth to check back in and provide us additional support with breast feeding. If we survive this first child and have another we would definitely use Ashley as our doula again, and highly recommend her to friends as well. read more
