DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY for any of your moving or storage. This moving company is not at all reliable nor do they move/store your items with care as your items will be delivered damaged or missing. Our story: When the truck came to our home after our items have been sitting in their warehouse for 6 months, the truck door opened and boxes labeled "Fragile/Glass" were sitting on the very bottom underneath totes labeled "heavy/books". We had several broken pieces of glassware. Also, from their mishandling of our TV stand, the leg broke off and they couldn't locate it. On top of that, a piece of furniture that was a family heirloom was missing from the original delivery. They said they may have seen it at the warehouse but it wasn't "tagged". (Now, they tagged/inventoried all items when removing, so not quite sure how that happened...hmm). They did locate the furniture and delivered, but the marble top to the table was SHATTERED! When we called, neither Rich nor Alex had any restitution or comments to provide. This company DOES NOT CARE about your items and handles furniture like a dog with a rag doll. Unless you are looking for a reason to have to spend extra money on new furniture or fixing furniture, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. read more

These movers were great. I was scheduled for the minimum time, and they did it in less than that. They were courteous, swift, and careful. I would highly recommend them. I had an extra stop to pick up some additional furniture and there was no charge for the addition of the stop. Got along great with my dog and helped arranged my furniture how I wanted it as well before they left. read more

I went with Dels to move my things from a 2-bed condo based on a recommendation. I also chose them because they provided storage services and since I had not yet bought a place to move to, this appeared to be a good deal. The pickup and delivery of my things went very well. The guys that did both sides of the job were fast and courteous. I had asked them to move some furniture a few times to different places during delivery and they did with no hassle. I couldn't be happier with the way this process went. The issues I have with them came up after they had left, and I started to unpack as I came to find some things were missing which ultimately came to be * one 6ft aluminum ladder * two plastic outdoor chairs * control knob for a burner for my propane grill * three glass shelves for a shelving unit * a box of bath towels I had called them back and initially reported the missing ladder and chairs. After a week of constantly calling back to follow up (note: each time I spoke to them, I was told I would be called back and I never once received a return call) they eventually got me a ladder and the chairs. Also note, they apparently couldn't find the ladder that I gave them, so they gave me another ladder that was similar. It is great that I got a ladder and it is functional, but the fact remains it isn't the one I gave them. They couldn't find the shelves or knob but said they would continue to look. After a week of more unpacking, I found I was missing a box of bath towels, so I called back to make them aware of it and to follow up on the other two missing items. I was told they would look, and they still hadn't found the knob or shelves. After another month of calling every few days to follow up (again each time I called I was promised a call back and again, I never once received one) ultimately they determined they cannot find my items and are going to cut a check to cover it. Unfortunately, the insurance they provide that will cover this is something like $0.30 per lb per item ( I can't remember what the exact number is but is it close) which means not only am out of the items they lost, the compensation will not covert the replacement. I think this price is usual in the moving industry, but this should be for damaged items and not for items that are blatantly lost. They argued as far as the towels are concerned, they do not know what was packed in the box. For all they know they could be $12 towels or paper towels so to them the compensation is fair. Of course, this is for the items that I know are missing. Who knows what I will realize what is missing in the coming months at which point, it will be too late to do anything about it. Bottom line, if you are looking to have your items moved directly from point A to point B, Dels may be an ok solution. If you are looking for storage in between moves then I would recommend looking elsewhere or, at the very least, find your own storage solution and have Dels move you there. On a side note, if your movers are storing your things then I recommend you inventory every item that you give them and document it just to prove what you have. I had thought of doing this but didn't get around to it until it was too late. read more

I had a mixed experience with Del's Movers. I was looking for movers on short notice because I'm pretty much a mess and like doing this in the spur of the moment. I was lucky that they had availability on such short notice and they sent me a very reasonable flat cost where everything was included (packing, floor covers, blanket covers, tape, etc). I booked them right away and let myself breathe. I had to go to work so I put my husband in charge of the whole move. I let him know what the cost of the move should be, what time to expect them, etc. The day of the move, the movers ran 1-2 hours late, which made me very angry since we had someone at our new condo waiting for us to arrive. My husband told me to chill out though because he said the 2 workers were very hard working and careful. He praised them for doing a great job and so I just let it go but then he sent me a picture of the bill and I almost threw my phone. The cost was significantly more than we expected. They expected it to take an hour longer than we estimated and also tried to charge me for the materials that I was told was included. My husband really doesn't like to negotiate or argue so he tried to just accept it but I got upset and called the owner and demanded an explanation and also asked for compensation since they arrived late. The owner was very understanding yet not apologetic. I would normally care more about the apology but since the owner said he would take care of it immediately, I didn't care that much. Moments later, my husband said it would be a flat fee again but still more than we were originally quoted. I didn't understand what took so long since everything was literally packed up and ready to go except for the large furniture items but there were just a few of those. After speaking with my husband, he let me know that the additional hour that I paid for was because they had to cover the ground in the building by ripping up boxes. THAT MADE ME FURIOUS. I told Del's Movers THREE separate times that they needed to cover the floors and they said they understood and that they would bring floor covers. But when my husband asked about it, they said they weren't informed and that they didn't have what we needed. It took an additional hour and a half because they were unprepared so I DO NOT understand why I had to pay for an additional hour of work that was due to their error. I didn't ask for a refund or debate the additional charge even though I really wanted to. And I want to give 1 star because of the terrible follow through of work but I am giving 3 because of the meticulous job the 2 workers did. SPECIFICALLY the African American gentleman that came was SPECTACULAR. My husband absolutely sang his praises and even went as far as saying he wanted to work with him again if we ever had to move again. If the business owner is reading this, we'd really like to know his name so we can request him specifically if we ever need his services again. But seriously, get it together. Moving is a major life event and if people are hiring you to help them, you should be organized. read more

Last Minute Move Great Service we waited to the last minute to call for movers. I called them like a couple days before hand they came through. They made my move very easy as well stress free. They even covered all our furniture as well shrink-ed wrapped on top of it as well. They took care in moving my furniture so nothing would break. Gave them a 1 for showing up. These movers are horrible. They damaged many items and stole or lost valuable items. Missing some pictures. Broke leg off of our dining room chair. Someone removed our gold lock off our grandfather clock and stole our gold pendulum. Stole all of our expensive pool sticks. Said they would repair the furniture but never did. Totally damaged the sailfish my husband caught on our honeymoon. They can't be trusted. List hardware to sone of our beds so we couldn't put two of them together. Stole our sleep number remote. Missing yard hoses and broke pieces of yard items. Scratched night stands and 100 year old dining room antiques. Broke off pieces of wood on the furniture. Their response was that we should have gotten more insurance even though they were bonded and ensured. Do not recommend. read more

Juan and Jose were on time the day of the move, were friendly, very efficient and the definition of professional. I was promised, over the phone, that moving an antique mirror safely was well within their ability. You can't believe everything you hear. At the nursing home, everything else showed up fine but the mirror wasn't brought in. That's when the driver told me that the mirror had been damaged, that he was sorry, but it was old, and the bumps on the road shook it apart. Except what really happened was that they wedged it, padded, in between other items that shook as the truck rocked back and forth, pummeling the mirror from both sides. Since I was urged to sign of at $.30/pound for damaged goods ('That's the standard."), I'm fighting to get compensation from a local millworks to repair the broken frame. If I'd known that they wouldn't use best practice in carrying the mirror (and what they did wasn't best practice), I would have moved it myself in the back of my SUV. read more

EXTEREME CAUTION!!! Scheduled a small move w/ Alex at my Lombard Apartment more than 3 weeks prior to the move. The Day before the move (scheduled for 8-9 am the next day) they called to say the "truck broke down...but they would arrive later on the day of the move by 2pm." Then as we approached 2 pm, Alex called to say they couldn't make it. I was frustrated but in a bad position so when Alex promised to come promptly the next morning, I was able to deal with that. However, At 8 am the next day I received a call from a person at the company who identified themselves as dispatch, the jerk told me that the truck was broke down and that they would not be able to move us, period! When I called to get a quote they said it was for 3 hours labor and 1 hour drive time, when we got done. I was informed that the hour of drive time was from the shop in countryside to Willowbrook and that was an hour....they took forever loading things up and when I discovered some furniture was damaged I was informed that someone would call and schedule to come and look at the damage and pay out. I never got a call back and when I did call I got the owner and he was very annoyed I would ask for any money at all. Never using them again read more

NO EXPLANATION. Wouldn't answer the phone or return a phone call. it was also moving day in Chicago so no rental trucks available. We drove down Fullerton and after looking at lines around the corner at U-Haul, spotted a moving van driving by. Called the number. TG! they were available and came over within the hour. I've used Dels movers several times in the past without complaint. However with new ownership in place the company no longer represents the good reputation it once had. Unethical billing practices, empty promises by owner, lack of customer service and lazy crew best describes my experience with Dels Movers. Buyer beware when choosing this moving company. Recently hired this outfit for a seemingly easy house-to condo move. After arriving late, the three man crew worked at a snails pace to maximize billable hours and took multiple 10 minute "smoke" breaks while sitting in the truck on my dime. After notifying the owner (Alex) he refused to take responsibility for his crew yet agreed to provide (but never did) a partial refund to cover the unwarranted work stoppages by his crew. Still waiting (months) for my refund - my calls are ignored and messages not returned. read more

I moved from a condo into a house with a 3 month gap in between and so planned to have movers move me and temporarily store my things. I used Dels based on a referral and because they provided storage. Pros: The guys they picked up and delivered my things (different each time) were fantastic. They were fast and arrived promptly both times. During pickup, they disassembled the furniture that required it and securely packed it. During delivery, I had asked to move a few things several times and they had no issues doing that. I can't speak more highly of them. Cons (Keeping in mind they had stored my stuff for 3 months): After delivery I found several things were not delivered and appeared to be simply forgotten. I called and was told they will deliver what was missed two days later (Monday). That never happened and I had to call again and again over the following week to ensure they didn't simply "give up." Also each time I called, I was told they would look into it or talk to someone and call me back and each time no one did. Finally after about a week I received some of what was missing. Unfortunately I am still missing at least 2 more items that i know of and it seems like I will not get them as there seems to be no urgency to resolve this problem. In addition they delivered a lamp they had broken which their insurance covers $0.40 per pound. Unfortunately this means a lamp which I had paid $60 to buy and weighs 2 lbs will only get me $0.80 to compensate. I am not sure if that is a standard rate in the moving business but to me is it robbery. Bottom Line: If you are planning to move from point A to point B on the same day, then yes, Dels is probably is a ok choice. If you are looking to have your things stored for a period of time in between your move then I would not recommend that you use them or at the very least, not use them for their storage service and get your own. read more

They showed up 15 minutes early and were very fast and friendly I have a 6yo and a 7mo old and when my 6yo got in the way they were very patient they had to empty out 2 storage units and one had quite a few big pieces of furniture and they seemed to handle them Well. These guys are great, we had to move a family player piano from my Father-in-Laws to our house, I had a truck but there was no way that my wife and I were going to get this piano moved out the door and down the po arch stairs. After calling a few places and leaving a few messages they got back to me and were able to help us move this piano the same day, at a very fair price! Excellent moving service. They arrived on time at my storage unit ready to work. My storage was down two halls, far from the elevator and they were done almost an hour quicker than the guys that moved the items in. They moved my items with no damage. Wait they dropped my metal file cabinet and showed me right away, no big deal. They arrived promptly at the new location, literally 2 minutes before I did. They unloaded quickly and efficiently. My only concern was the way the pricing was explained. I thought they didn't have a one time flat fee because it was labeled as travel. Travel before they arrived wasn't specified, especially since they stated there was a (4) hour minimum. What they mean is there a (3) hour minimum and a flat fee for travel getting to your 1st location. Honestly I would have choose a different company if I'd understood that and saved almost $50.00 BUT I definitely WAS NOT disappointed with the service they offered. This was the at least the 3rd time I've used Del's for either personal or office moves, and up until now, they've been great. Great movers. Great service. Great responsiveness to any issues that arose. And then someone else bought them. This time around, there was some minor damage to an ethernet port in our office such that it needed to be replaced. IT agreed to charge $90 for replacement + labor. I showed the movers, who acknowledged the damage and how it was caused, then called the person that they gave me (I believe the new owner), talked to him, he said he'd get back to me...and that was in April. Tried to contact Tom, the sales person who set up the move, and no response from him either. This isn't the same company it was a year or 2 ago, so steer clear. If I could hire their guys directly and avoid the company all together, I would! read more

Do not use them under any circumstances! They are shady as can be. The main guy(don't remember his name) on the team showed up and immediately started trying to sell us to find a time they can come back off the clock and not thru the company. Of the 3 other movers, the most experienced one had 2 days of experience. They were 75% of the way done filling up storage and hadn't moved a few big items, so I had to stop and ask them what their plan was...None of the guys had a clue how to answer and looked lost. High school kids could've done better. Then they finished their 3 hours and the main guy started selling again on working off the clock and not to tell the owner. We paid them $80 to "work thru their lunch". I signed the receipt for the agreed upon amount, only to be charged another hour since they called the office after "working thru their lunch". We repeatedly tried to call the office and the owner refused to call us back. Oh and the amount of time the main guy used our bathroom and how "hyper" he was acting makes me believe he was using the bathroom for other reasons... read more

If if could be a zero I would give them a zero. I had a TV broken in the move as well as marks on my walls and chips in furniture and I realized yesterday when they put together my bed set it was done incorrectly so I need to have someone come out and fix. I have been trying to get a hold of the owner for a week now and have left multiple messages without any return call. I would recommend using anyone else then Del's. As they say you get what you pay for. Spend the extra money and get a better company to handle your move. read more

Del's just helped us move from one suburb to another. They showed up right on time to move out of our old house, worked quickly and efficiently to load up both trucks. Then they stored our belongings for 3 days and unloaded them on the 3rd day at our new house. Nothing was scratched or broken, and all the guys were very friendly and polite. In response to Jim, I want to say that I DID point out the large dents to the movers and I called in and spoke to Kathy while they were there awaiting payment. I was told by the company that I had to pay the original bill first before I was able to claim any damage to my home. I had pictures and the claim in the day after they left. It was actually his company that was lagging in response time, not me. I still do not recommend this company, regardless of any BBB rating---in fact, I think I will give them a call too. read more
