Ultimately, this whole review is a warning to those who choose to continue to fly Delta: - Do not attempt to use self check in Kiosks (this is not the first time they haven't worked for us, just the first time it caused an actual issue) - Be aware of the 45 min bag check policy - Do not expect customer service agents to always provide helpful assistance - Be wary of the advertised flights, as they are not always available I have been a long time Delta customer, and have never experienced an issue like I did in Spokane on 2/13/26. We were running late for a 5:45 AM flight (and I take full responsibility for that), but had arrived at the airport by 4:55 AM. I went to the self check-in kiosks because we had prepaid for our checked bags and I just needed to print tags to drop them with gate agents, who were all helping other customers (minimal line). The kiosk would not pull up our reservation with either an ID, or our delta gold card, so I got in line to check our bags with a gate agent. I handed my ID to the gate agent at 4:59 AM, and before the clock rolled to 5:01 (aware of the times due to being late and constantly checking my watch), she informed me that she could not check our bags, due to Delta's bag check policy, which I was unaware of (as was she, as she had to check with another agent about what the timeframe was for checking a bag - 45 minutes), but apparently took effect in spring 2025 (our flight was set to depart at 5:45 AM, so we WERE 45 min in advance of take off). She told us we could get on the flight, but our bags could not (which would have been difficult as we were traveling with a toddler who quadruples packing requirements). After some back and forth asking for any alternative solutions for getting the checked baggage to our final destination, the gate attendant said that she could get us on a flight from Spokane to our connecting city at 7:00 AM instead, which I agreed to and she contacted Delta scheduling agents by phone. She informed me after 10 minutes on the phone (5:13 AM by this time) that she could get me to the connecting city (Seattle) on the later flight, but that there were no flights with availability to our final destination on that day from any US city with Delta. The next available time to fly to our final destination was the following day, making our 4 day vacation, 3 days (8+ hours of travel with a toddler, hardly worth it). If I would have known at 5 AM that there was no way to fly that day without just having carry on bags, I would have tried to figure out a way to minimize our baggage into our carry ons, get our remaining luggage to our car, and still make our flight. OR, contact the other individuals we were traveling with (who were traveling on a different airline) to see if they would be able to check our bags instead. But by the time she informed me, our flight had already begun to board, and the other parties flight was only 15 minutes from boarding which would have put them in a hard spot. While I don't know that it would have made a difference in our specific circumstance, I just feel like having non-functioning kiosks in front of gate agents and gate agents who are unaware of flight or policy information invites customer frustration and delays. All this occurred while a girl next to me was also struggling with a gate agent because her mother had purchased her ticket, she had the boarding pass on her apple wallet, but the gate agent continuously told her that she was not on the flight rosters anywhere and that she would need to contact Delta customer service herself (she was supposed to be on the same flight as us). I don't know the details of her particular situation, or who was at fault, it just painted a bleak picture for Delta overall. We contacted Delta customer support after our experience to see if there was a way to change our return flight as well to extend our trip, however, were informed that because the gate agent used our change trip code to modify our departure, it could not be used on the return flight and we would have to pay the difference for reticketing (which would have been over $1800 for one additional day - exact same return flight). We also looked into trying to modify our flights on our own, and saw many flights advertised as available, and for significantly less money than what we were quoted by the agent (as in less than $500). We began the process of trying to rebook ourselves, only to then find out that the flights were non-existent (though they were listed as available on the delta website and app ). After two hours, another call to customer service, and significant frustration later, we were left on our original return flight. The remainder of our travel experience (actual flight experience with seating, other gate attendants, in flight service experience, etc.) was fine and on par with other travel experiences, so really, this review is related only to our experience on 2/13 in Spokane. read more

It's our first time flying with Delta and this is by far the worst flight experience my wife and I ever had. On the flight to New York, I overheard a stewardess telling a passenger "to use his brains" behind his back. Very rude especially sice the passenger didn't speak any english. And then our flight back to Spokane had very little time for our layover in Seattle so we were concerned that we could miss our plane. We asked the Delta help desk who just told us "I don't know what you want me to do" in a condescending tone. Then we asked the agent at the boarding gate who didn't even look at me when I was asking and proceeded to talk to another staff instead. Horrible customer service all throughout. read more

Delta canceled my flight only 5 hours before departure. That's understandable, but I've had this flight booked for over a year. I tried getting a refund for my flight but their app AND website said that it cannot be refunded. Several hundred dollars gone to waste. I tried calling customer service but I was on hold for over 5 HOURS. 5 hours waiting for someone to talk to. I spent $1,500 for multiple tickets. This is BS. read more

Usually Delta is great but if you ever lose a bag just beware. They are not helpful at all. My bag got moved to a different aircraft than the one I was on and then lost by the receiving Airline who said they never received it. Delta claimed the responsibility was KLM Airlines. That is all the help I got from them. Nothing else. No compensation, no written apology, nothing. Really Delta? They get 2 stars because onboard and ticketing are great. But of course they are they are selling you a product but if you need their assistance and there isn't a payment attached to it then you might as well kiss that service goodbye. Airport in general is kind of rude. Greeting delta staff is lackluster. There were 7 associates present and only 2 other people in line and they couldn't be bothered to stop gossiping to even say hello or offer service. One redeeming associate was helpful. When I got in, I thought I missed my flight because of a delay. I went to the gate staff to double check that I didn't miss it and one lady was decently pleasant but the other stuck up her nose and told me how the plane had just arrived like I was stupid. She brushed me off and I walked away. I understand there was a delay but I just quickly asked to make sure I wasn't missing anything. A simple interaction didn't need to be so unpleasant. When we went to board she was also the scanner. Smiled at the guy in front and was cheery and then smiled and was cheery to the lady behind me. When she got to me she was notibly uncomfortable and irritated. I did nothing to her and wasn't rude. I don't normally think this of others or claim this lightly but I looked noticeably gay. We have been loyal Alaska flyers for 20 years. My wife and I booked a flight to Cancun in 2019 with Delta and you changed our minds. Better planes and better service made the decision easy. We have been flying Delta since. HOWEVER, this trip to San Diego was frustrating. We booked our whole family for a quick trip and brought our youngest grandchild with us. We booked our first class tickets with seats aligned so we could help our daughter travel with her baby for the first time. The cool part was how flexible your customers were.  The downside was ALL 4 of our flights had changed our seat arrangements! Check in at the Spokane ticket counter was quick and seamless. The agents were friendly, especially for 4:30 in the morning. Once in the gate area the signage and paging kept everyone in the loop as to the status of the flight and when to board. Announcements were clear and the gate agent was friendly. Coincidentally she was the same agent that assisted me at the ticket counter. Flight attendants were friendly and efficient with boarding. They took the time to make very good announcements for bag stowage and assisted in the process. They were very nice to those that brought bags on that were clearly larger than should have been allowed. Very good experience. 1 star off as I still had garbage in the seat pocket after the plane stayed overnight. read more

This particular pilot actually stood in front of the passengers and started the trip off with an introduction of himself and his crew. Then followed up with informing us on how he anticipated the flight would go, which he had anticipated rougher winds than normal apparently. He then ended with an estimated time of arrival to our destination. As for the flight, it was actually a very smooth flight. Upon landing & docking, the pilot asked the flight attendant to escort our five-year-old son to the cockpit if he'd like to go see them, which he did. The pilot was beyond accommodating and aware of not only his primary job, flying the plane and getting the passengers safely to their destination, but aware that flying is not an everyday occurrence for people. He made this particular trip extremely memorable and very enjoyable. Our son now emphasizes this profession and pretends to be a pilot because of this particular pilots behavior. read more

Delta's ranking won't last with the kind of service they're starting to deliver. After reserving tickets early, I was bumped three times, and separated from seating next to my spouse. Plus rude gate attendants, then the monitors on the entire side of the plane were out. They're seriously becoming like Spirit, yet charging premium prices. I'll gladly spend more money not to fly with Delta again. In my experience, Delta can't keep their flights on a schedule. My last tip all four of my flights were late taking off or landing and they lost my luggage. Because of the late arrival they wanted me to stay overnight in Atlanta for 16 hours. It's ridiculous that the flight was changed so last minute in the first place and when I contacted an agent to see if there were earlier flights, I get no help and instead have my whole flight cancelled and have to be on hold for another 1 and a half just to have the booking I had on hold be not available anymore and the best thing I was offered was a refund but I had a air b&b I paid for, car rental and other reservations already paid for in Colorado which I can't be refunded for anymore. read more

Used delta for a couple years when traveling from seattle to Spokane and back. Sometimes Portland to spokane and back. Well, after too many delayed flights, ive had enough! Delta for some reason is horrid with delays in spokane. Its pathetic. So much so, we have officially changed to Alaska now perm. Avoid delta at all costs. I was dropped off early at GEG for my August flight, however when I went to check my bag, discovered I had I left my purse, with phone, in my husband's car. The desk agent helped me make a call to him, however he was driving and did not respond for some time. She continued to make several calls, leaving a number he could return call. She immediately set me up for standby on the next flight out and for my connecting flight to Chicago O'Hare. She also booked other tickets for me in the event I did not make the stand-by. She was friendly, courteous, helpful and reassuring. My husband did return with the purse, but I had missed my flight. The desk agent worked her magic. I was able to fly standby, not just in an economy seat as I had purchased -- I was seated in Comfort Level on both flights! I will definitely fly Delta again. read more

Incompetent at booking a flight for an animal. They charged us $300 to fly my cat cargo to Orlando and it took 2 hours on the phone as well as showing up in person only to have them tell me the booking couldn't happen because of connection times. Yet they booked it for me... Wtf? Then they tried to tell me I had to buy a new carrier when this one still had the stickers from being accepted before. They tried to convince me it wouldn't fit their requirements which was BS!! When called out the guy who didn't seem like he wanted to be there anyway tried to say his drill didn't work so my husband showed him how to use it. Freaking morons. Roberto and Patricia went above and beyond to help us get home! We were 5 minutes short of our check in time and was told by another staff member we couldn't board our plane. The plane wasn't leaving for another 30 minutes but since we were so close, she just told us no. We went back and Patricia worked on other options for us, then Roberto I believe in management worked his magic to find us flights to get home back to Los Angeles that evening. They were both actively helping us and because of them, they created life long Delta fly members! Next time we fly, we will be picking Delta cause of these two. Well flight delayed from spokane to Salt Lake City, missed connecting flight, had down grade from first class to main catch next available flight, on return flight our connecting flight had problems so we switched planes and then that one had problems, when they switched us from first to main the person helping us said they reimburse both tickets for being switched from first class. After trip call and set up online, my trip ended July 15 I got a message saying they looking at it and now mid august and no answers, also my suitcase handle was broken no reimbursement. Maybe due to Covid but wow we got delayed 7 hours to and 5 hours coming back. No one could help us directly at the airports we had use the red phones talk someone on there make these changes, really why they even have the staff there at counters if they can not help you but give 800 number to contact. Also doing that you just get hung up on saying there busy submit online. Me and my partner flue July 2 from spokane wa to salt lake then Austin then return on the 15 of July. I still can not believe they even emailed saying we consider reimbursement for my partners ticket which I paid for both same time like wow. Never recommend delta to anyone. read more

I'm in the USAR traveling on orders. Delta had to switch put planes, due to a hydraulic leak. This wouldn't be a problem, but my bag didn't make it to the new plane. It's sitting in a locker, at Salt Lake still. Four planes have made the trip, since they found my bag, and no one can tell me why they aren't loading it. This is not professional, or acceptable. Could be there is a reason that the other reviewers have given Delta one star. I don't see their rating improving any time soon. read more

If you book a flight with Delta now, they will change your flight each and every week up until the date of your flight. These changes are not in terms of minutes or even an hour or two but are drastic to where your flight does not remotely resemble the itinerary you paid for. They claim the reason is COVID, yet I have no such problems on other airlines. Delta offered a refund and proceeded to allegedly place the refund on a credit card that I closed over a year ago. Spent countless hours with their leadership discussing the overwhelming task of giving my money back. It has been 2 months and I have not seen a dime. Incompetent staff top to bottom (or they just steal). Better to walk to your destination than to book or get on a plane operated by the Delta Clown Show. read more

My flight with Frontier got canceled without notice and we had to book a flight from Ft.Myers Fl to Washington st , Delta was the only airline available, we where so surprised with the service and the social distancing messures they where taking! On both flights we had to take to get to our destination my hubby and me where alone in the row, they where leaving the middle seats empty unless they where family members or traveling together. We felt safe and appreciated, they are putting safety before greediness like all the other airlines. I told my husband from now on i only want to travel with them. When I came up from California, I was able to check in my carry on bag for free. I have an injured shoulder, and it is hard for me to carry it through TSA and to the gate. When I spoke with the person up front, I asked if they could waive it like previous, and she went to get a manager. Donna, the most unpleasant supervisor yet, told me I was at fault for bringing this bag, even though I brought the smallest bag possible. She ignored me when I tried to ask her again, and she couldn't give me a reason why they couldn't honor this a second time. I tried to ask if the policy changed in the last three days since I flew previously, and she told me no. Now, I strained my neck and shoulder again, I'm crying from embarrassment and pain, and the supervisor at the front gate showed me more sympathy then Donna ever did. I'm not using delta again. Delta changed my flight twice and caused problems for me to reach my ride in Portland and I wasn't able to make it home u til 4 in the morning due to their scheduling issues. First of all, the 5 stars are for Coral who worked gate (B4) for my flight home today. She renewed my hope after multiple bad experiences before arriving to gate. The Delta front desk (1 star) at the Spokane airport was a disaster. No organization and multiple angry customers. They had no system of keeping track of who was next in line. They had 3 lines - Sky Priority - All others - self serve. None of the staff were giving any direction, so finally after being skipped 6 times, yes 6 times. I asked, I just want to check my bag, what line should I be in. I was directed to self serve. No sooner than I roll my bag that way, they call the person behind me in line. After waiting through another 4 people, I finally made it to the front to check my bag. Then they proceed to tell me that my one hour flight is almost 2 hours late. That did it! I had signed up for notifications from Delta and hadn't received one notice that my flight was delayed. No assistance was offered. Disgruntled, I head to security and my gate. Once in, I noticed that another flight was leaving at my original scheduled time and asked Coral if there were any seats on that flight. Coral went the extra mile and moved me to the earlier flight joyfully. She didn't try to hassle me for any fees as this was a Delta issue. I feel this should've been handled at the front desk as soon as it was known my flight was delayed. Thank goodness for Coral. Coral you made my day! read more

Delta Airlines is the worst airline ever. On a recent trip, I took two flights to and two flights from my destination. All four were late! And on top of that, my luggage was damaged beyond repair. Delta is the master of waiting endlessly on the runway for takeoff. They do not offer drinks on shorter flights, apparently because they don't feel like it - however short the flight may be, the long wait times provide ample time for drink distribution. And the airplane was boiling, with poor air flow! We sat on the tarmac longer than we actually flew during my last flight. I hope to never fly Delta again. read more

I signed up for their text alerts and email alerts, but unfortunately I assumed text was working because they sent me one yesterday. At midnight this morning I drove 4.5 hours to Spokane only to discover my plane was damaged and all other options were 10+ hours delayed (try spending 10+ hours in airports with children who just drove 4 hours). They never texted me but I did find an email many hours too late. I ended up having to change my flight to the next day, and drove 4+ hours back home. Only upside is the changed flights I got were in my own town so I suppose it was a ~$300 ticket upgrade but anybody who has driven in the dark at midnight for that long probably would agree with me that it takes more out of you than $300. read more

Just traveled home from Italy yesterday. First of all, they had numerous flights leaving very early with hundreds of us trying to check in and very few employees actually working. Those that were there were slow, stupid or rude! Paid $85 to check 4 pieces of luggage. One was lost somewhere in Europe. Still don't have! And, nobody knows where it is!! Two other pieces made it to Salt Lake City where we had to go thru Customs and recheck the luggage for our flight to Spokane. When we got into Spokane, only one piece made it there, and the lock (a PACLock) was ripped off the case, zipper pulls and luggage emblem were sheared off and a front wheel missing. We were sent to the ticket counter to find out where our other items were only to be sent back to baggage counter. Were told one piece was in AMSTERDAM AND THE OTHER TWO WOULD BE FLOWN IN LATER THAT NIGHT. Today, no luggage still, no call and can't reach a person on the phone to follow up! Very poor service. Won't ever travel via Delta again if I can help it! read more
