Their 24-hour online banking is anything but 24 hours. Almost every night, I'm unable to transfer funds from one DCCU account to another. Depositing is no problem. Then, at 6 am, all pending and other incoming deductions are taken out, and if there are insufficient funds, due to being unable to make any transfers at night, they start adding fees for every failed transaction. Now you have to call them to let them know that you weren't able to transfer, and then they will reverse all fees. I was told by a customer service rep, that's why when you call in, they reverse the fees. What kind of backward system is that? Instead of simply being able to transfer money into my account myself, I have to go through this all the time. They were great for auto loans, but that's about it. For online banking not to be available every night for about 5-8 hours is not a reasonable amount of time. read more

If you plan on opening an account and going in person to a branch, then in my experience the people are helpful. If you use the mobile app for checking your balance then likewise there should be no problems. But if you intend to use the app for things like check deposits then know that it's a nightmare to use and frequently won't allow you to make deposits. It astonishes me that Delta would offer a product this bad. Problems have persisted and nothing is done about them. read more

Three words: Poor. Customer. Service. While I love DCCU, this location makes me want to curse. Almost every staff member looks as if they'd rather be anywhere but at DCCU and it definitely shows itself when they speak with customers. I was hoping this would be a one off situation but it seems to be every time I actually have to go inside to speak with someone, I deal with someone who has a nasty attitude or just looks downright disgusted whenever I ask questions or request assistance. Even worse...the only time I was treated with professionalism and respect was when I was in the process of becoming a member! I mean was this a bait and switch to reel customers in and then the real personalities come out once you join? I dread coming to this location just because of the staff, but it's the closest location to me. I would seriously suggest classes on professionalism in the workplace and extensive customer service training for the staff. We are new to DCCU. I just got married and we needed a joint account. I've never really banked with a CU but my husband banks with a CU that doesn't have branched ITP so we came here. We opened 6 accounts online 2 joint and 2 for each of us. So the first issue was the online banking wouldn't allow login. Husband had to go to the branch and get it fixed. They call me because they cannot reach him and say that his phone isn't working. He goes into see what the issue is. The person at the desk apparently doesn't know how to use the telephone..simply didn't dial a 1 before a long distance number. Second issue, I was using my personal debit and noticed the transactions were coming out of the joint account. Called customer service and the card was coded to the wrong account. Husband got his debit cards and they are coded to the right accounts but have the wrong info on the front of the card. We haven't moved all of our funds over simply because we don't know how long we can stick it out here before moving on. I've been in twice to make a transaction in person,,,,it's take forever to get shit done in there. So far my experience has been less than ideal. . read more

I used to hate coming here admittedly. It always seemed to take double or triple the time to get done what you needed to get done. Over the last year though Ive felt like there's been a shift. Not sure if its a change in management, staff or policy. However, they are alot quicker in getting some of your trivial requests done quickly e.g. getting a document notarized. Have always been a fan of this credit union in general so Im glad to see the service finally living up to my expectations. If you've never been a member of a credit union and you (like me) hate fees I can solidly can recommend this one. Of note, you only have to have $5 in your savings acct and from there I dont believe there to be any fees. read more

I have always been a fan of credit unions versus banks. I have a CU account out of state and I travel often. I used this Delta branch location several times for the purpose of making deposits. I was told that I have access to any credit union as long as I specify which one my account was originally with. It is always busy and the staff seems pestered to assist customers. To make a simple deposit takes at least a half hour. Today I was given a false receipt, called the bank, got a customer service line that is located out of the area, and they were on hold for so long (for the branch manager) their system logged them out. I've been on hold for about an hour now, missing work, this is beyond frustrating. I attempted to make a deposit and it is not showing in any form. I can't speak for Delta C.U. in general, but this particular branch is useless. If I have to do personal banking in the future, I will drive out of state if needed to avoid these rude, inefficient, and unhelpful people. I'm just trying to deposit a check. I can't imagine what entails a mortgage or loan of some type. AVOID THIS BRANCH! Additionally, the ATM is always "on the fritz". read more

I am a strong believer in a credit union and I have been a member of different credit unions. When I recently moved back to Atlanta, I was shopping for a credit union. I found out about Delta Community Credit Union and I learned that this is one of the most financially stable credit unions in Atlanta. There are total 26 branches and 21 of them are in Georgia. Comparing to all the credit unions that I have used, service of Delta community credit union service has been exemplary. Especially, I am very happy with the service at Decatur location. First of all, a rep at the front desk has been able to help me most of the problems that I had. Also, she is always very kind and professional. Another good thing about Delta Community Credit Union is that you can just speak to someone about any problems with home banking at a banking center. Make sure to note that there are numerous shared branching locations and you are able to use ATMs at different credit unions as a member. read more

I am a WaMu refugee. When Chase acquired them they promptly closed the branch near me. I kept the account because it was free and I didn't want to deal with changing my automatic payments. Now Chase wants to charge me so I started looking elsewhere, enter Delta Community. I was skeptical about credit unions. When I think credit unions, I think few ATMs and even fewer branches with minimal hours. While Delta Community does not have not the number of branches or ATMs that Chase has it makes up for it with better products and service. They only have three branches ITP (this one, one in Vinings and one by the airport), but they are open on Saturday which is huge for me. This branch is convenient to the Decatur MARTA station as well. They set their branches up like WaMu (it is a big open area where tellers stand next to you instead of behind bulletproof glass) so I was right at home. I think this similarity is a big reason I gave them five stars (I miss WaMu, what can I say?) The people there are wonderful and very knowledgeable about the products and services they offer. They have a good size free ATM network with the Allpoint (Walgreens, CVS) and Co-Op (most Publix) networks. Other comments/observations: - They print your debit card there so you walk out with it - Their online banking is simple and efficient. - Free coffee and bottled water - Free coin counting for members which is a cool perk If you got screwed by Chase like I did, or are just sick of dealing with big banks and their fees, Delta Community offers a wonderful alternative with no strings attached free checking (and even a bit of interest). read more

When Decatur First was bought out by Fidelity I was mortified. I'd been with Monster Mega Banks before and it only took a couple of months before my previous experience hauntingly returned. Customer no-service, terrible website, and they didn't have half of the benefits that DF did like no ATM fees. It may be obvious that I'm a Clark Howard fan so I went searching for a Credit Union and couldn't be happier with DCCU. Their website is easy to use and the bill pay function is awesome. The people are very friendly and the location in downtown Decatur is very convenient for me. Like Theron T says below, Decatur First would comp the ATM fees the first few withdrawals every month but perhaps that was the reason they were bought out so if I have to pay a few bucks a month to keep DCCU around, I don't mind! I try not to leave negative reviews but the ATM machine here is almost always malfunctioning in some way. Can't take cash deposits or checks, can't pull out money, machine won't even come on etc. I had thought them replacing to whole thing would have fixed all these problems, but no. Having a fully functional ATM where one can conduct business outside of business hours is a reasonable, minimal function that any bank or credit union branch should offer. read more

To become a member, they will pull a credit report. Since I was not a member, it took me two hours to try to open a money market account. Yes, two hours. It still didn't happen because since I place fraud alerts and credit freeze my credit report, I had to unfreeze everything. After that was done, they still wanted extra proof. It would have been nice if they told me all of this before I started or suggested I go online. I researched other banks/credit unions and completed an application without need of a credit inquiry to open a money market account. Application process was done within an hour. Plus, I received a better yield rate. I was not getting a mortgage or car loan, but a simple money market account. I went in on Friday, August 2, to deposit a government check, the teller didn't know that checks from the government are guaranteed funds! I bank with Associated CU, but I went to Delta because they are a share branch facility, so I thought that everything would be done just like it is a other service center locations? My heart is so encouraged by the attentiveness and proactive attitude towards my grievances with the Decatur Branch. 3 days ago I had composed a very unhappy review concerning the Branch manager and asst. manager. I was contacted the very same day by Ms. Karla Slocumb, she was very understanding and sympathetic with my frustrations. She'd asked me for my full name and phone number. Then, a day later, Wednesday afternoon, there was a voicemail on my cell phone from the Asst. VP Mr. Brandon Stuckey, wow! talk about feeling special and appreciated as a customer regardless of just opening our accounts less than a month ago, it was very touching! I am utterly grateful for not having my concerns and frustrations pushed under the rug or passed on into the "customer service Vortex" but viewed as someone that sincerely needed a resolution. I am impressed and humbled in feeling VALUED, thank you for your example in language, timeliness and Customer Service. The real stars in keeping us as customers: Karla S., Brandon S. and CSR "Darrell" the young man who'd gone above and beyond to open our accounts. Initially I was very excited when I open my saving and credit card accounts with the Delta Community Credit Union. I had seen the TV commercial advertising that it was one of the largest credit unions in the state of Georgia. I even went to the website and read about its products and services. I went into a branch to open my accounts but had to comeback because they needed proof of my income. The first appointment went smoothly with little problem but the next one did not. I had to wait an hour because of lack of staff. Then once I gave my proof of income to finish my application for my accounts it took another hour to process my accounts. I was amazed at how long it took to open both my saving and credit card accounts. But maybe this is the norm? It has been years since I had gone through this process with a credit union and it was a lot of paperwork. The second challenge I had was trying to access my accounts online. I had created a user name and password before I got my account number and was told to go back and add it to my profile. But when I tried to do that I couldn't remember my password. So I sent an e-mail to get a dummy one sent to me. After going through the process to create a new password I got an error message saying the website was down. I called and was told that was not true and to try again. Instead I went to the branch the next day and was told the website was actually down and was given another dummy password. But when I got home that one didn't work either. When I called again I was told that I was supposed to have used that password immediately. This made no sense because why would I be given a password in a branch to be used right away? I am not at a computer to log in? I was so frustrated that I stepped away for a couple of weeks. Then I tried again to log in and requested a dummy password through e-mail and it still didn't work. At this point the frustration of simply trying to log in to my account was too much. I have forgotten my passwords with other websites and a simple dummy password through e-mail is usually all you have to do. I was also told that a technician would call me to help me with this process but one never did. So, I wrote a letter to close out both my saving and credit card accounts. I went into the branch to handle it in person. The branch was not crowded but I still had to wait 30-minutes before I was seen by someone to close my accounts. There was a lot of going back and forth with this credit union. It seemed that I got conflicting answers depending if I called the toll free number or went into the branch. I found that the information was not always consistent. Additionally, the wait time in the branch was too long. read more

I prefer a credit union over a bank and I am a fan of some of Delta Communities services. However I am having to close my account . I am in agreement that their customer service is terrible, I am under the impression that they would rather serve Delta employees only but it's just an impression. Delta Communities poor customer service aside, what I have beef with is their online banking. The delay online account updates make it very difficult to reconcile my checking account and I often find myself having to pay a very high "courtesy fee" For purchases made days earlier and which according to my statements available balance should have never resulted in a negative balance. I even have sms account alerts to my phone but never get warnings until after the fact. I don't see what is the point in offering online and mobile banking services if they d not serve your customers well and they really need to step them up. Anyway, I am pissed and leaving Delta Community, which is probably no big deal for them. I would not recommend Delta Community to anyone looking for easy banking solution, it might be good for you if you don't mind managing your account the old fashioned way on pen and paper...and keep all your receipts. read more

Very dissatisfied with this place. Had a life event take place with my grandmother and they were absolutely no help and unconcerned. She's in her late 70's and used to live with her sister until they experienced a house fire and lost everything but their lives. Her sister went to live with one of her grandkids and my grandmother came to live with me. Problem was her sister took care of all financias since my grandmother no longer writes due to a stroke a few years back, all I wanted to do was add her to my account so she could receive her social security check since they no longer mail out checks they have to be direct deposit and that person has to be on the account. Her license was expired and she never renewed after the stroke. I called in first and they said come in we may be able to help with your situation, I get my grandmother together and go in and immediately tell me there is nothing they can do no exceptions. I leave and walk into my other "bank" and without the whole explanation they say when can you bring her in, I say she's in the car now. They say "bring her in we can help". I opened this account years ago thinking I would get a more personal experience than with the"bank", boy was I wrong. read more
