This was our first time coming here and wish this was my home casino for Boyd as Sam's town the casino is twice as smaller. But I do like the rooms at Sam's town better though. I definitely love this casino and better than Sam's Town as they have much more machines there and layout is much better. They do not have any card games however unless I missed it. They do have a racetrack and you can go outside and see it. Rooms overall were nice, but the walls were paper thin. The issue was that we were next to people that had a lot of noise on the first night and were totally drunk and security had to come up and settle things down. Service was really friendly as they let us do late checkout. I hope next time we get to stay in a suite as in Sam's Town we get to stay in the suite. I probably had the most fun at this casino as they had a range of good games and I had some good wins and I probably came out a winner here. However, I wish I came out a winner throughout the trip. The only issue I have is the lack of machines to cash out the machines as during a busy night the line can get really long as I usually like to cash out the ticket. I did see a lot of people get jackpots, but I was not one of them, but I can see potential. They only had the 5 line version of the Ainsworth games, but I learned to play with the 5 lines and was not too bad. I did well on both the high and low volatile games and lasted quite a long time there. Unfortunately, I gave back most of my money as I was chasing the $10 dollar pinball as I really wanted to try for a jackpot. But I had fun though. It does get smokey and very crowded here. the slot machines are very close together and you can bump into people easy. The soda machines there are only 2 locations I know of. I will never return to Delta Downs Casino after the experience my mom and I had during her birthday trip. I was vlogging and recording my own machine, and the front desk lady clearly told me it was fine to do so. But a few minutes later, three security guards surrounded me like I was doing something wrong. I felt completely racially profiled and embarrassed. To make things worse, when my mom tried to clear things up, the same lady who told us it was okay to record switched up her story and told my mom she "never said that." It was shocking and disrespectful. This was supposed to be a fun, relaxing birthday trip for my mom -- instead, it turned into a humiliating and uncomfortable experience. I didn't even finish my drink -- I left it sitting there and walked out. And as we left, security watched us like we were stealing. Delta Downs, do better. No one deserves to be treated this way. I had a good time here on a Wednesday evening. I enjoyed playing the slot machines even though I'm not a gambler. I played and won about $100 dollars then changed machines only to lose it. Spent about $110 dollars for a little bit of fun. We didn't eat there even though there was restaurant service and plenty to drink if you wanted to drink. They have self serve fountain drinks and coffee available throughout the casino. I would come again just for the fun of it but I do caution you there's a lot of smoking going on and you will smell like a walking cigarette. I will be returning soon. read more

Beautiful facility with the pretty green pastures surrounding the casino. Check was easy and that was with a "Newie" in training. It was our first time there and we will be back. Sherry, in the Rewards area, was just a joy from the minute we walked up to the cage to get our badges. She represents the Hotel with an uplifting and award winning smile to greet clients. She made us feel warm and welcomed. Jay (Jackson) in the Gator Grill was also very friendly and a good server. The food was very good and my only complaint is that the the lighting was too bright for evening. Would have liked a little more ambience. read more

Delta Downs is one of the first casinos you encounter when you cross over into Louisiana from Texas. If you are into slots, this is your place. Literally, that is all they have other than betting at the racetrack. I play table games, so this was not it for me. It is on the older side and just doesn't give me the vibes as some of the newer hip places on Lake Charles. For me, I will keep on driving past here and try my luck elsewhere. read more

The first time we stayed here we discovered bed bugs in the bathroom. They had to take all of our luggage to another room in black bags. We understand that this happens at hotels. We gave them another shot a year later and the front desk customer service is horrible! Our keys stopped working and she was very rude about getting them to work. Part of the gambling experience is enjoying a cold drink. This place is the worst in drink service on the casino floor. We were here a month ago and thought it might have been an off day but low and behold here we are a month later and the drink service is still non existent. Their ventilation system is horrible. So, I booked the hotel here for a couple of nights for my family to rest and recover. First off, a smoking casino? Didn't think that kind of thing was still legal, but ok. As I looked around the room, I noticed it's clean, which is very nice, and luckily the smoke from the casino doesn't bleed into the hotel side, but I also noticed no microwave. They make you RENT them for 20 bucks a NIGHT. What kind of hotel/casino charges you to rent a microwave? Free breakfast? Nope, surcharge for that too. Or go to their restaurants and spend 16 dollars for just French Toast. Also, wanted to enjoy the pool, nope closed for the season, yet the water slide is still on and the lights are, jacuzzi is ready to go, but no one can use them. Again, what hotel closes a pool for the season when it's still averaging 82+ degrees outside? I got the deluxe king room for my husband, myself, and our daughter. Room said it sleeps 3. Perfect, a bed and sofa bed. NOPE, all 3 people share the bed! For the amount I paid I could have gone to Comfort Inn for the same price AND have a microwave, pool, sofa bed, and breakfast. Horrible overall, and I'm more stressed out now than I was before coming here. read more

The Delta Downs Racetrack is pretty run down and is in need of a serious upgrade. The place doesn't look like it's had anything done to it since it was built. Hardly any of the monitors worked at the tables. It was fun watching the races live and betting on them. We stayed at the hotel because of the close proximity to the track and Casino. The hotel was okay, rooms were big and clean, but the casino was small and really, really smokey. Plus they do not have any table games. Just older slot machines. Next time we will stay at the Golden Nugget and drive over for the horse races. The GN has better rooms, restaurants and casino. read more

Delta Downs was so fun to stay at! I went with my partner over spring break and we had so much fun. There was a nice pool with a hot tub that we really enjoyed relaxing after being inside gambling‍ all morning! There is also a 24/7 grill in house that you can get late night breakfast food at. I think that it was very quiet all throughout the evenings and the stay was worth the price. One thing i'd like to see improved next time I visit is the variety of games available in the casino! Sometimes I loose very big here. However, I have begun to notice that I simply need to cool my jets and pay attention. What I mean is that if I simply stroll and look, I can clearly see the slots that are paying out. I will also need a bit of patience to wait the then-current winners out. The food isn't so great, but the credits build up quickly enough to at least use them. However, one recent visit yielded great, hot fried chicken. I mean it was absolutely wonderful. This casino will be one of your first casinos that you will run into (approximately 35 minutes from the Texas border). It has a race track where you can view the horses and make your bets. The parking lot is ample and does not share itself with any other business. Don't expect to find any card or dice tables here, strictly video machines are here for your gambling pleasure. Friday and Saturday evenings are usually a good time to visit especially if you are looking for a buffet that has stone crab legs. they are served cold unfortunately and the price is around $28 per person. Casino is ok although some of the machines are over 5 years old and faded out. Hotel room was very nice however every time my elderly parents and I have been there within the past year, you can never find a bell person and I always end up having to find a cart (if you can) and doing it myself. Every time I have asked about a bell person, response has been, "they are at lunch" or off that day. When I look frustrated the rude lady at the front desk says, "We'll everyone needs a day off"....he or she has more than a day off as never available. We are at Delta Downs casino and racetrack in Vinton Louisiana and the room is beautiful not very packed today but there's more people than we imagine we have a really awesome room with a great view too bad the horses are racing at this current time the room is very very nice the check-in process was really easy and now we're getting ready to head down and do a little gambling and I'll have more pictures later as far as the dinner and the buffet once we get ready to eat if you're ever in Vinton Louisiana check out Delta Downs Casino and racetrack. The winning comes and goes but isn't that every casino? Lol They do bring in a variety of games but I wouldn't go as far as saying they are "keepin' up with the Jones's". There are a lot of new, up to date, games that I wish they would bring in but they seem to be one step behind on that front. I have noticed that Delta Downs takes the lead on two fronts. 1- There are plenty of servers on the casino floor which is rare for a casino. They comes around frequently and usually are pretty quick at bringing back drinks. 2- They have a variety of activities such as casino, concerts, giveaways, slot tournaments, and horse racing. If you want to see and/or bet on the horse races, I suggest you go to eat at The Lookout or The Buffet (You can stay a bit longer at The Buffet and will be able to have a tv on your table if you sit on the "porch" area. read more

There was hair on the bathroom floor, the safe (that's supposed to be, well... safe) was mostly pulled off the wall and my room door (and some others on the 5th floor I was on) have a weird gap at the bottom - a big gap, an unsafe feeling gap. I had to stuff a towel in it to at least thwart any big bugs, or weirdos with a camera from invading my space. Also, if you want fitted sheets or an actual blanket/comforter, that's not happening here. Tv channels are a bust too. --- Casino: a good selection of slots only, small but decent ventilation. If you like a feeling of winning... that's not happening here --- Buffet: Easter buffet. the nastiest dining I've had in a while. Food temperatures all off, unappealing looking, dried up, tasteless... just eww! If this is the big Easter Day hurrah Id hate to see a regular schmegular day --- Most important is the employees genuinely appear to hate their jobs. The valet guy was nice, the bconnected customer service lady and the waitress in the buffet were friendly- other than them, no smiles or hellos - anyone I interacted with gave the impression they were being bothered by being there. Were down here for our wedding anniversary and stayed for a night. Room is not bad , but bed is so firm. Machine are not paying .my first hour was loosing big bucks.every single machine i have played are not even giving bonus..and if it does , it only gives you like $2.00 here $3.00 there. Had a really great stay! The renovations to the rooms and hotel are lovely. We did well on the slots. Service was great and lots of people walking around serving drinks. Good security here- I feel safe playing here since there is a lot of security around but not obtrusive. We ate at the buffet last night and it was ok. Lots of people were loving the crab legs. We usually love it. Last night was a bit off for us but only because it was a seafood buffet and we are not a fan but if you love seafood - Friday night is a good night for you. Overall we were starting to go to other casinos in the area, mainly because the rooms- but now with the renovations we will continue to come back. I stayed at the hotel for two nights. Check in was a breeze. The actual room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The shower was gigantic which was nice. The bed and pillows were comfy. The air conditioning was quiet and kept the room at a consistent temperature which was great since this time of year can be hit and humid outside. The restaurant onsite was also great. The food was delicious (sweet potato souffle was absolutely amazing) and the service was outstanding. Unfortunately I didn't have time to check out the casino so I can't give any input on that portion of the Delta Downs other than the place had the typical "casino" smell that they all have. I've been here every year for 6 years this visit today was HORRIBLE!!! Gambled but not one waitress acknowledged me once, I had to purchase a drink at the bar BTW I had two drinks and was a tab of $20. I thought if you're gambling you drink free. As was every time I've come. Workers were very unfriendly that was surprising. I spent 7 hours in casino gambling and again not one waitress came. As racetracks go, Delta Downs is above average. Covid definitely impacted our visit, (restaurants closed, gift shop closed), but we were still able to get an above average lunch at the grill. Drinks have to be ordered from the outside of the building for some technical reason. The races ran right on time, and the view of the track is good. The casino is a typical casino, nothing exciting here, but that's not why we went anyway. Our hotel room was spacious, with free wifi and a fridge but no microwave. The bathroom is beautiful but unfortunately not as clean as it should be. Long hairs and lots of dust behind the door. Our room backed up to the elevator shaft and so we heard the motors whirring all night. (Don't get that location!) Overall, we had a good time here. read more

Not sure why this casino is getting such a bad rap. We got there early in the morning on our way home from Lake Charles and it was fairly empty. The higher ceilings help the smoky smell and there are literally way more slot machines than other casinos. The slots are well maintained but you may have to wait a bit to play the fancier ones. My only complaint is that there are no table games here. So come if you're into slots. Food wise they have a small cafeteria on the casino floor and the buffet upstairs. There's also a small arcade in the corner to entertain any kids for a while. We won $100 from one of the machines after trying a couple. Try a few slots to see which one is the lucky one. read more

Quick visit casino, not bad, theater, smoke filter is best one in Louisiana, play wheel of fortune! Takes hour or less and you've done it all. I'd probably never go back to Louisana, but if I ever do I will def come back to Delta downs instead of all the other mob run casinos in that State. This one had the family down home comfort feel to it. I never once had to sneeze or freak out because of smoke. The facilities look awesome, clean, and brand new gaming machines "Great Scott Marty! Went to Delta downs on a Saturday. Lobby was nice and clean. Got checked in right away and headed to the room. Rooms where nice and clean. Bathroom was clean and a nice size. We only stayed one night so we didn't order any room sevice. They were racing live so we ended up placing bets and got lucky and won a pretty big amount! You can see the horses up close, which is nice. The race track looks a bit worne and outdated.. they should fix it up a bit and put a nice large projector so we can see the races from there (I've been to a fee and they have those screens). After the races, we ended up eating at the Rosewater Grill and Tavern. Got to say... it was pretty good! (posted pics in their profile) we ordered burger, grille chicken, and steak. My hubby ordered gumbo but.. was too salty for my taste. Everything else was good came out to about $150 for the four of us. They had live music.. which they were pretty good. Casinos were fun. They only have slot machines, so if your looking to play cards or something else, this is not the place ( we ended up going to Golden Nugget on Sunday) Besides from winning on the race, didn't win in the casino. Drinks were free and besides one rude waitress, the other ones were very attentive to us and didn't need to be chased around for drinks. Overall, we had fun and was a nice experience. BUT, there is always a but, food availability, was just one overpriced restaurant which did not have to go orders, no room service and one excessively over priced steakhouse. It's a casino..Smokey and you definitely get the casino vibe. I drove for 2 hours to give away money. It's gambling. A 2 star wouldn't be fair and a 4 star wouldn't feel right. Lady on machine beside me won about $3400 while I was there and another lady behind me was $2800. I guess I'm just Schleprock. Obviously they have folks that win there. If you enjoy casinos and can't make it to Vegas for a couple days, give them a shot. I would probably feel better about it if I wasn't so anti-smoking. Delta Downs needs a deep cleaning especially in the Gator Grill dining area. Flies. Sticky floors, sticky tables, carpet hasn't been vacuumed in a while. You can hardly eat without swatting sone flies away. Casino is extremely smoky. It meets you outside. I usually go to GN or L'Auberge. First, the good. After gambling for 25 years, I FINALLY hit a jackpot. At Delta Downs, of all places. I've spent extended periods of time in Las Vegas, and never hit a thing. I've played Blackjack at the Rio, and 3 card poker at Red Rock. I've played slots in Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, Colorado, Louisiana, and Nevada. I've played at Indian Reservations and on land and sea. And, although I've won a few smaller jackpots, I've never won a big one. I did at Delta Downs last Thursday. Not big enough to retire on...and not life changing. But, enough to pay off my car. :-) So, there's that. The place has been remodeled and the rooms are VERY nice...all done in trendy gray and white, with AMAZING showers with benches. Fantastic! They've hidden the microwave in the closet and the fridge in the nice dark wood dresser...very nice! The thermostat worked beautifully, and our room on the 5th floor was extremely quiet and solid feeling. The hotel was very booked, but we couldn't hear a sound in our room. The food in the buffet was off the chain! So good...everything. The Friday seafood buffet in particular was fantastic. Yum!! The casino itself is fun enough, if you're a slot fan. That's all they offer, besides racing. I hit on a flaming 7 machine near the Player's Club. Now, for suggestions. The beds are abysmal. Too hard for anyone but a kid. And, too high. The clientele is mostly older and heavier. They should remedy this. And with the beds so high, there is also NOWHERE else comfortable to sit in the room. There is an office chair, but that's all. There is a space available from where they moved the fridge and the microwave. If they squeezed in a bench or wall hugging recliner there, that would be lovely. Also, although they cleaned our room, they forgot to wash the coffee cups and leave coffee for the next day. Weird. However, when we called them they immediately came up to our room with coffee. Check in was boggy, but it was packed with people, so understandable. All in all, we had an awesome time!!! Delta Downs Thank-you!
