My friend and I went here because we wanted to try to eat a little healthier - for at least one meal ;-) You'll see a white paper English menu near the entrance. Armed with information from the menu, you can simply point to whatever looks good, and the staffers will put some on your plate. If you get something that needs to be heated up, take your tray to your table; your food will be brought out when it's ready. At the end of the food line, you'll be given a receipt that shows what you ordered and the price of your order; pay when you leave. There's a cashier near the door. We had the chicken Caesar sandwich with qunoa and the roasted beef salad. To wash that down, we got two drinks; the total bill came to about $13 USD. Not bad! read more

Delirio Tropical is definitely One of the best lunch places located just off the beach, in the Leblon district of Rio de Janeiro. It is a gastro cafeteria/buffet style with the freshest selections of organic salads, rice, beans, fish, meat. chicken and variety of fresh fruit drinks as well as beer & wine. Absolutely love this place. Always fresh, delicious, and fairly healthy (though the food definitely has its fair share of oil/butter to taste this good). We came here for a evening quick meal. They were almost packing up but we were not the last to grab a meal. The bean with cilantro tomato and had a Mediterranean taste to it. They had already started to remove labels, cover up bowls and take the ice cooling rocks from the case. The simplex serving was plenty plus a fish fillet with an olive oil sauce and black sesame seeds topped with green onions. For desert, a slice of apple cake with cream and apply jam layered on a delicate pastry. Hit the spot for a light evening meal. Really good options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians! You choose from 1 to 3 options of salads and a choice of protein. Their broccoli and coli-flower with fried garlic salad is really nice, crepe stuffed with zuchini and mushrooms is awesome, beans soup also great, nice quiches and pies ect!! Delirio Tropical is very similar to places like Lemonade or healthy salad/sandwich spots in the United States. Ordering starts with selecting whether you want a grilled/hot item or sandwich. After ordering, you move down the line and select the various items you want on your plate. From vegetables to salads to other cold sides, you pay by the number of items on your plate (plus whatever grilled item you order a la carte). I ordered the filet steak and got two salads and my husband got a chicken Caesar sandwich. As finding healthy eating options in Rio was somewhat challenging, the choices we had were fresh and delicious. The good thing about Delirio tropical is that it can be found in several places in Rio de Janeiro. The prices are high if you compare it to the variety of the food. I used to go there over the course of a few months, and most days the food was the same. It is a great choice to go only once or twice. But they always put too much food on your place and you don't have a chance to choose the amount. It can be a little trick if you are unsure of what to eat. We were on the beach and wanted to get something other than fried food from the food stands right on the beach. Our friend found this place and raved about it so a couple of us came too. When we got there there was a line out the door, but it moved fairly quickly. This place is just like Lemonade in SoCal. There's a ton of different kinds of salads that you can choose from then there's hot foods towards the back. The only difference is that I think the flavors at Lemonade were more delicate while here it's just heavier. I had a potato with spinach salad and something with carrots. It was pretty filling and I couldn't even finish everything. The prices were pretty decent too. Since it was so hot I didn't get any hot foods, but they had a fish dish that looked pretty good. They have many options of healthy food, lots of salads and vegetarian options, and that's a rare thing in Rio. They also have coconut water, what is also rare for a restaurant, and all the ingredients come from their farms. Very fresh, healthy and natural food. Lots of vegetarian salad options. Grill options for vegetarians is limited on to one - falafel. Would like them to add more. The black bean soup was good, but again only one vegetarian option. Deserts were not good. I wouldn't recommend paying for deserts here. Overall, good place for a quick healthy bite. read more
