We strolled around town and came across the brightly lit space that is Rinaldo's Casa Cucina. We didn't have a booking but the very helpful staff found us a space in the nearly-newly renovated barn-like space. Wine list was excellent with many local King Valley or Rutherglen labels (I opted for the fantastic Pizzini Sangiovese, she for the Pizzini Pinot Grigio). The menu was what I'll describe as "modern Italian" and was great. The plates we saw emerging from the very busy kitchen had us drooling. A charcuterie platter entree later and we were ready for mains. Seared salmon for the Minister. Prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast for me. Both absolutely delicious. Our table host was helpful and enthusiastic - a level of friendly service we wish Canberra would emulate. All in all a great and lucky find for us after a long day on the road. If you're in the King Valley or around Wangaratta - try it, you won't be disappointed.

As they are owned by the daughter of the Monichino winery and having been there several times for dinner I was quite looking forward to this meal. The decor of the place is nice and the staff although a little green and lacking customer service experience in a restaurant were friendly and courteous. We had a few small hiccups namely when we rang they said no need to book so we didn't. But once there the place was quite full and they want to sit us at a wine barrel table. Anyway a table came up and we were seated the table was in even and rocked about considerably so we asked for something to pack under the keg it the table which seemed to confused the waitress. Any we shifted to another table as my mate gets a bit pedantic about that sort of thing. So we ordered some coffee which wasn't bad and perused the menu. There wasn't a lot to offer I thought for lunch. Being a couple of share platters five mains and six tapas style plates. A little disappointing really. We both ordered the chicken burger and it was nice the brioche bun I'm not really a fan of but it was a simple burger really. It came with a serve of chips and these were nice and crunchy. Overall I think once they find their feet and the staff are comfortable and competent. And if they expanded the menu a small amount or made all day breakfast available then this would give a few more options to choose from. Although not expensive and really just the same price as most places they need to life to get a good customer base as there are some excellent Cafe's near that serve better coffee and food with a lot more options to choose from only a block away. Having said that I would return with my partner to see if they had improved and give them another chance.

With the wine list designed to compliment the menu its a place worth going back to time and time again. Worth every cent. I personally have never tried a Steak Tartare or a Blue Steak before and was convinced by our host Carlie that the head chef Ryan (French trained), would create a dish I wouldn't forget. She was 100% right. I had to fight the good lady and daughter off from eating it all from out under me. It really feels like we finally have a Michelin Star restaurant in Shepparton. We had two different brews, mine a nice IPA, wife's a Pilsner, and were both happy. We also had a pizza with tomato sauce, apples, rocket greens and Blue Cheese crumbles which was tasty. Also, the thin crust was nicely crisp and easy to pick up and eat, unlike any other pizza I've had in AU. In addition to lots of seating inside there was plenty outside, some covered by umbrellas, some open. There was a large children's play area which was well attended. The clean Rest rooms were M, F & Handicapped. Highly recommend. Humorously, they list "Italian Style Pizza". I wonder what style pizza they are differentiating from? I suppose Hawaiian or something? We do have Greek style in RI but... sorry, just felt a need to say that.
