At first, Demayo law seemed friendly and said my case looked good, but the way they handled my case was very unprofessional. I was contacted by multiple people at the beginning and received inconsistent information, and I often had to call them myself for updates. The specialist assigned to my case was not the one who ultimately contacted me--during my last conversation with him, he told me he would reach out to the insurance adjuster, but instead I later received a call from a different representative informing me they would not be pursuing my case. After more than two months, I was told my case was being dropped because liability was denied and they did not believe it was strong enough to proceed to trial. I was also told they had "just reviewed" the police report, which was very concerning given that this should be one of the first things reviewed before accepting a case and recommending treatment. The representative who contacted me was dismissive and lacked compassion, which made the situation even more frustrating given everything I am already dealing with, including a totaled vehicle and ongoing insurance issues. I was also given explanations about fault that were confusing and did not align with my understanding--for example, I was told that even with a green light I should have waited for oncoming traffic, which did not make sense based on my understanding of traffic laws. I was ultimately left being told to look for a second opinion and that the treatment they had recommended may have to be paid out of my own pocket. The lack of communication, consistency, and professionalism throughout this process was unacceptable. I would not recommend this firm for accident claims or any type of claim at all!!! read more

My autistic twins and I were hit by someone that ran a red light last year that totaled our car and traumatized us. It took this law firm 8 months to even present an offer, you only get updated every 5 weeks. If you reach out for information it's 'thank you for your patience' all that time for them to come to the table with a 7,000 settlement which after their fees and medical bills left me with 2200. I waited 8 months for 2,200! And the person who discussed my settlement with me over zoom then had the nerve to request a review so the already well paid attorneys could get a bonus. TUH! ABSOLUTELY HIRE THIS LAWYER and THIS FIRM Andy O'Hara, a litigation lawyer at DeMayo Law, represented me when I had a serious injury. I called other lawyers, but I chose Andy because he talked to me on a personal basis rather than treating me like a "case" to handle. Andy asked me many questions, and then he LISTENED to me...not many lawyers actually do that. He acknowledged what I said to him, advised me about the process and some hurdles we would face, and actively assisted me through my healing process. When it came time to file the insurance claim, he helped me set reasonable expectations for the process and timelines. We filed a lawsuit to get the insurance company to treat my claim seriously. Andy did a great job of preparing me for the various stages of litigation. Ultimately, when we had an opportunity to have serious negotiations about settling the case, Andy made a compelling presentation of my injury, the pain I suffered through, and the physical, mental, and emotional experience that affected me in so many ways. The worst law firm in North Carolina and possibly America!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!!! I've used my share of lawyers in North Carolina and elsewhere and I have to say that Demayo is by far the worst law firm I dealt with in comparison to others. For starters, they are very eager to take on any and every client in the beginning, but once they got you on the hook they will string you along, and keep you in suspense about your case until the very last minute. Furthermore, if they can even get a decent settlment ( In my case they couldn't) they will hold up on paying you for weeks or month until THEY feel like paying you out. Not to mention, they couldn't even cover all my medical expenses because they were being to greedy with their "LION"S SHARE" of the money and decided too pay themselves handsomely before giving me and the medical providers their portion of the money. If you are using DeMayo Law Group involving Camp Lejeune, Beware. After many phone calls that I would not answer, they reverted to investigating my family to find out another phone number to get in touch with me. I was told that the deadline was nearing and that it would be to my advantage to get some paperwork done in order to participate in this law suit. I did not want to participate at all but I was convinced to start the process. They have another law firm who works in connection with DeMayo. It is Crisp, Cherry McGraw. Many months passed by when I received threatening letters from both parties that they could not proceed with the law suit. Frankly that was fine with me because I didnt care to start it in the beginning. It was the threat of the letters that I received that I am mostly very upset and angry about. I am told that if I do not sign certain papers within a certain length of time that I wil have a court order served against me via the sheriff department and if I do not comply then a proceeding for contempt may be brought against me and that I may be committed to the county jail for an indefinite period. I am a person who has lived a very clean life and never had any problems with law firms in the past. This by far is the worst I have ever encountered. Do yourself a favor do not hire them. read more

Once they saw no benefit for them in my case, they dropped me with no questions asked. Was over a month into treatment from and auto accident and left hanging by their team with no fight for my case (the reason you get someone to represent you, right?). This firm claims to get you the most from your claim. NOT!! I was hit by a car coming out of a side road on my motorcycle. I was thrown and rolled 90 feet and suffered broken ribs, hip fractures, broken finger and multiple road rash and bruising. It took a year and all I got was 16,000. It was not explained to me up front that my health insurance can claim part of my settlement for the medical costs. They got 26,000. They did a poor job representing me and seemed to have settled without a fight. Stay away from the TV commercial hype! read more

I would highly suggest going elsewhere. They left me in the dark and they barely got my lost wages back. By the time we were offered something, I was just ready to be done with them so I could put something towards the debt that I incurred during the time I wasn't working. I felt pressured throughout my experience here. They also pressure you into settling so they don't have to go to court.(It's probably pretty much the same with these types of lawyers, but just giving you my two cents.) It might be a better idea to go to someone with a smaller practice so they listen to you and actually meet you in person. I feel it's a bad idea to juggle clients around so much. It's extremely impersonal. It doesn't feel great when you deal with ten different people during something like this. read more

I went with Demayo because of the amount of marketing they put out. It's a big name and I assumed that correlates with a great experience. After several months I felt strongly my case was not being handled correctly. After going in for a meeting to discuss my case, I was treated horribly and then they terminated my file. I found another attorney, the difference was night and day. I finally felt I could just focus on getting better and at the end of my case I got much more than I could have imagined. I was involved in a car accident years ago. The accident was not my fault. I suffered a severe concussion, to the point I had swelling in my brain, loss of speech, headaches, wasn't able to work, and back pain. It took me close to 2 months to actually get most of my speech back. I lost memory, some that has never came back. I had to live off of credit cards because I was unable to work. I had to be put on Ritalin to help the blood flow in the front of my brain to help me begin to speak again. After all of this trauma you would have thought I would received enough money to at least get myself out of debt that I had accumulated during the time that I was unable to work. Instead, after Mr. DeMayo paid my doctor's visits and took half my settlement for his fee, I was left with less than $10,000 for my settlement. I'm writing this review because as I sit here tonight on my couch I still struggle to even be able to write sentences clearly on a piece of paper. I never had trouble before the brain injury and I have continued to have trouble in different areas for all of these years. I was still left with credit card debt and have absolutely nothing to show from that accident but trauma. I would never recommend him to anyone. Worst experience I could have ever had. Worst lawyer I could have ever hired. You never even see him until it's time for him to cut your check. His agency never cared about my well-being or my health or my future after the accident. I was the victim of a drunk hit-and-run driver earlier this year. Upon meeting the investigator with this firm I felt like they were really going to help me. The only thing they helped me with was to help themselves because they can only get a return from the medical part of a settlement. My brand new car had been totaled and I kept asking the case manager what was going to happen about my property damage claim because all she talked about was the medical. She kept telling me that it is processed separately from medical, but gave no further information. When the settlement was completed I only received the medical part of the claim because the law firm gets 30% of that and gets nothing from the personal damage end. When I again asked what was going to happen to recoup my loss for property damage they said that was up to my car insurance company. That was news to me and because so many months had passed my insurance company had already refunded my deductible and closed the claim. They do give you a really nice swag bag though when you go to pick up your minimal check so that you can do free advertising for them with a T shirt, a bag, flashlight etc. Go elsewhere. read more

I love the fact that this company was very professional and the employees were very cordial, BUT I personally would never use this company again, ever. I was involved in a collision with a huge commercial truck in August 2019. My case hadn't been settled until January 2020 in which the settlement that was awarded me was extremely disappointing considering the fact that I was out of work for 3 weeks, had to undergo physical therapy, suffered from whiplash - the effects that are still felt today - and continue to suffer phobia every time I see oncoming mac trucks when I'm driving. I won't go into the intricacies of what was told to me at the meeting, but all that I've been through and continue to go through, I walked away with a little over $5K after all expenses were paid. Everyone who gave a 5 star must of had a whole different attorney. I will never used this law firm ever again. Where do I start it took 2 years to settle. I had to always call to touch basis. I had 3 different case managers that took forever to return calls, or never call me back. Then they told me we can go in to lidigation all lies. After i kept calling to see what was going on the attorney informed me they wasn't able to do it. She also said Mr Demayo reach out to me and never did. The customer service is horrible I wouldn't refer my dog to this firm. To top that off they got 12,000 from my settlement but didn't do what they was supposed to do. Also, I wasn't at fault but they didn't even fight the insurance company to pay all my health care I might have to come out of my pocket if my health insurance dont agree to the amount they have offered. I was not satisfied with my results at all. I was told my case was solid and after almost two years of run around this firm couldn't even get enough compensation to cover my medical bills. Very disappointing. I was told I could take my case to trial to try to cover my medical expenses but my odds of winning in the area the trial would be in were unlikely.
