I enjoyed the food here. I went on a Saturday around 5, and it was packed by the time I left. The ambiance is very diner coded, it's super small and cozy inside. Service was amazing, very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The cheese fries were the star of the show for me, must try! The 10" shrimp poboy is very big and comes with plenty of shrimp. It was kind of dry to me so next time I'll probably get extra mayo. The jalapeño burger was also good and juicy.

Just ordered sum fried oysters! Yum, Troy got stuffed shrimp and Jac orders roast beef melt Po'Boy... don't forget the onion rings! A little bit of a wait but so worth it. Our waitress was hustling!

Stuffed mornay potato with 6 jumbo fried shrimp ($17ish) & a nice side of smaller fried shrimp ($7)

Large portions of very good food.. have plenty of leftovers.. at least 3 more meals at home. I wanted more shrimp and the waitress recommended a side of smaller fried shrimp which were priced right and delicious! Great food & service.

    Large fry! Huge!

Friendly, attentive service! Was really craving a shrimp poboy and Dempsey's did not disappoint! We loved their poboys-bread was perfect (buttered french bread)!!! Poboys great! Onion rings-superb! Portions were more than generous! Love that we have a neighborhood restaurant that's so good and dependable!

Fried Chicken Bacon and Cheddar Po Boy

Tasty place for some po boys and gumbo! The chicken and sausage gumbo was delicious and a big portion for a cup. I add Tabasco for extra heat and flavor but it was good without too. The chicken bacon cheddar po boy was also huge and tasty. Service was quick and friendly and prices very reasonable. I will say the atmosphere is very lacking, literally blank walls and little to no decorations, but food and service was good and the tables were kept clean. This is also a busy spot so keep that in mind when coming by. Good spot to try!

    Bug on Fried Mozzarella
    Nathan L.

Giving a 2 star because the service was pleasant and they were understanding of the situation and removed it from our bill. We ate 2 fried mozzarella logs before noticing one had a bug on it. Also, the gumbo tasted like the roux was burnt and the place just did not feel clean.

French dip sandwich with seafood gumbo

The French dip sandwich combo with the seafood gumbo is not only a very good deal, leaving me stuffed, but is outstanding food as well. One of the best roast beef sandwiches I have enjoyed. Gumbo was very tasty. Excellent service with Jolie. Great local place definitely worth checking out.

Just a normal Cajun restaurant table LOL

But after looking around for a moment, she found a more descriptive menu. I suppose if you're a regular, that's not an issue. For a first timer, it's weird. I came here with high hopes for an Italian hoagie ("The Italian"). A good Italian hoagie is hard to find in the heart of po-boy country. The meat and cheese on this version is good, but the sandwich is kind of small and a bit dry. The menu says it includes roasted red peppers, but that was missing from my sandwich. It does appear they have a nice variety of bagels. Overall not bad, but I'm still in search of a good Italian hoagie.

I found it a bit odd that the self serve drink dispesnser is at the back of the restaurant, everyone one I've been into is setup this way. I always like to get some sort of italian salami type sub with provolone cheese. The sandwhiches are always filling and I never need to get the full length ones, the half size is good enough for me and I'm a big guy too. I've had the pastrami and the corned beef hot subs, both I can highly recommend. Each location has a fine selection of hot sauces as well. I'd like to see this place employ more people from the firefighting community to be a regular part of their restaurant experience to keep it original and not just capitalizing on the whole idea of firefighters starting a restaurant. Nonetheless it's another fresh take on a common theme of two pieces of bread and what you can put between them and present in a welcoming / fun environment in which to consume it all at a price you can live with.

However there was not a lot of mushrooms, the meat was on top of the cheese, it had a vinegary taste to it and I didn't add that to the sandwich, both pickle spears were missing and so were the tomatoes!!!!! It seems like the only way I can get a sub made right is of the manager makes it. Ugh

This place is awesome. I think it is the best BBQ in Baton Rouge and one of the best in Louisiana…read more The fact that I have let this draft sit for so long is ridiculous. I couldn't wait to be one of the first customers at this location. You see, I read an article that mentioned there was a version of this restaurant in MS near the coast. That was a huge bummer since I spent the majority of time out there and never knew it existed. But, you don't care about me, you want to know about the que! I am a Texas BBQ fanatic. If I could eat brisket every day, I would. The problem is that for many many years, no one in Louisiana understood good Texas style BBQ. That all changed when folks like Nola Smokehouse and later Gonzo's (The current champ) came arond and showed us what we were missing. Salt, Pepper, Oak (SPO) is one of the latest in the modern LA BBQ joints that does the best Texas BBQ a LA boy could hope for. Brisket - This is my primary reason for coming. It is always smoky, flavorful, and oh so briskety. If you have had real deal Texas BBQ, you know what real brisket is like. This is it. It is delicious. Everything else - Thats the thing with SPO. It is so much more than just brisket. When I am feeling a little wild, I get brisket and something else. The excellent something elses include turkey breast, wings, sausage, and those tallow fries. All are as good as the brisket. Trust me when I tell you, this place is legit. The location is in an industrial area but is well laid out, and there is plenty of seating. Pay with a card in the line, make your drink, grab utensils, and grab a seat. They bring your food to you. The whole process is super easy and you will love it. PS. Their mustard based sauce is the best I have ever had. Send me the recipe if anyone has it. Please!

Wow! What a hidden gem!…read more The breakfast menu has some great choices and I will certainly be back for lunch. Kinda pricey for breakfast, but if you order the Pitmaster or The Morning Fix, you'll probably have enough for lunch, too. Right off the bat, the tomato based creole sauce on the smoked gouda grits is a serious competitor for star of the show alongside the brisket. It is fabulous!! (I wish I knew what they seasoned it with so I could get my tomato gravy to taste that good.). About the brisket - it's as good as any you will find in the Texas Hill Country, and better than some of those. On a biscuit with a good runny egg, it just doesn't get better than that. The smoked sausage was kind of dry, not great. But everything else is really great. The potatoes are cut in larger pieces than I prefer, but they've still managed to get them good and crispy. If the breakfast is any indication, then the rest of the menu must be great!
