We recently found that we are moving back to Arizona, so I took a complete longshot and reached out to Roy with a few photos from our balcony, where my husband and I spent countless hours watching the waves and enjoying time with friends and family. Well, that's SO Twentieth Century. Deery Hill is Amy Chau and her husband Eric. They were on-site at a wedding in Carlsbad and created hand-painted digital illustrations on an iPad for the wedding guests. Here's how it worked - Eric took a photo of an individual or couple and sent it to Amy's iPad where she created stylized 5"x7" images. Then Eric printed and packaged the drawings with a cardboard backing and a protective cellophane bag. After we posed for Eric's photo, I walked over to their station and saw dozens of packaged portraits waiting for their owners to claim them. In a while, ours was ready to go! He donned his Bob Ross wig and led us away on a fun experiment painting hummingbird birds. I believe it was the first time I actually painted anything on a canvas and I really had a great time. The stars aligned as we roamed around Solana Beach like "locals acting like tourists" as I say. We're N SD peeps & honestly there is always something to explore. In between coffee cafes and consignment shops Cedros Art district is literally right up my alley. I just love the arts whether it's live music, photography, paintings, and/or you name it! We were warmly greeted by Anna & Ethan himself. Birds of a feather ~~ as I too dabble as an artist. He's hosts several events too! I'd like to return for one of those in person events. Once upon a time we joined one of his virtual "paint and sip" parties~~ via zoom at home. That was a lot of fun but now that pandemic has eased up on us we can interact in person again. If you appreciate the arts I'd highly suggest that you go and check out his works too! It took me a hot minute..but am so glad we finally made it! Now I'm inspired to get out my canvases and splatters some paint on them!!!
