I have been to Dr. Hammond for three major surgeries. He is absolutely a "body artist". This man is so intense and takes his time making sure everything he does is to perfection. I told him I never want him to retire because no one will ever come close to his skill level. I am out of state and passing a dozen other surgeons on may way to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for Pete's sake! Well, my well planned virtual visit, easily scheduled in person meeting for sizing, and my pre-op appointment for marking were professional, thorough, and left me feeling like I was in the most capable hands. Anna, his medical assistant, is so kind and reassuring. She does an amazing job of making sure all is running smoothly for each appointment and answered any questions that I had. The front desk staff are kind, helpful, and make the most of your time. The rooms are private, clean and comfortable. I met a medical student at my initial appointment, as well as two others during my marking appointment. Dr. Hammond made made so many notes on exactly how he was going to perform my surgery, that even I was impressed by his level of detail and felt very important. He is professional, thorough, and very sure he can deliver on his promises. Surgery day arrived and I was treated like the only patient on the planet. Dr. Hammond came in to check on me and go over the plan. The surgery team (Karen was awesome) was concerned and answered all my questions after going over my plan, the surgery center is state of the art and private, and my husband was kept up to date on each stage of my procedure. And yet another plastic surgeon was in my surgery, learning from the master! I found out afterward that Dr. Hammond had taken extra time to ensure my results were what he had promised. I got to see video from my procedure directly post-op, and he spoke with my husband and I about the entire decision process. I admit that I was a little doubtful that his SAFE augmentation protocol could really leave me almost painless, able to return to normal activity the next day. I expected to be unable to raise my arms, hug my family, or even pull up my hair on my own. I am happy to admit, I was wrong! My family kept having to remind me that I had just had surgery! I had a breast reduction by Dr. Hammond. I am SO happy with the results! There is minimal scarring because he uses his own technique called the SPAIR technique. He created the SPAIR technique which doesn't create as much scarring, and he does seminars and teaches the technique to other surgeons world-wide. He suggested a cup size for me which I initially was worried would be too big, but it turned out just right. The size fits my body-type very well. I am not a large person, but I am above average height, and have square shoulders and more of an athletic build with some belly fat. If he made them really small (which is initially what I wanted) I would have looked dis-proportioned - but any larger and I would have thought I'd gone through the surgery for nothing. I recommend him to anyone thinking of getting a breast reduction. Trust him on his advice for proportion and size. This advice is VERY important. I would even suggest that he is worth traveling to Grand Rapids for the surgery even if you're from New York or Chicago. I couldn't be happier. If I could I would hire a plane to go out and run a streamer that Dr. Hammond is the best plastic surgeon!!! I needed a breast reduction and went to other physicians for consultations, one actually was interested in the cosmetic side and how much money it would be, when Dr. Hammond within 10 minutes of examining me explained why my hands were going numb (I was being treated for carpel tunnel). I walked out called my husband and said "I found my surgeon" and have never been more happy other then my wedding day. My husband said this morning "I am like a little girl on Christmas morning, he was happy with my results as well". I had my surgery on on Tuesday morning and by Thursday I was up, absolutely no pain, and felt so much better. Today I am 10 days post op and I am 150% better then I ever expected. Dr. Hammond developed a technique (SPAIR) that is world renown so you have no drainage tubes (other physicians said they did them), nothing was unattached that had to be reattached, and the opening was sealed with steri-strips that came off 6 days post op and there will be minimal scaring. Dr. Hammond has forever changed my life in the best way possible! I had undergone a bilateral mastectomy and was reconstructed by a different surgeon prior to meeting Dr. Hammond. I was referred to him by Dr. Ringler another plastic surgeon in Gr, who when looked at my breast said my case was far to messy and complicated and that if anyone had a shot at fixing my "mess" only Dr. Hammond could do it. At my first consultation with Dr. Hammond he immediately had a game plan and felt very positive that he could improve not just the physical way they looked, but correct a lot of the painful issues I was experiencing as well.
