These Dennys love to screw us truckdrivers however they can. We are 3rd rate people after all. So yes the food is decent when they decide to make it decent. But my problem today was with the lady at the register. I was standing there ready to pay my bill and after couple minutes she comes walking past me and said, "I'll be back in a couple minutes." And walked outside. Um, what the heck? She went out there to smoke and play on her phone. Um, hello? A couple minutes later after one of the other ladies who saw me standing there and just stood around talking to someone else. Finally decided to come to the register. I asked what the name of the other lady was and what she did. "OH she's on break." And wouldn't give her name. I'm telling you I'm really tired if being treated like crap because I'm a truck driver. Warning: oh by the way. Yesterday I had the sandwich with egg. Can't remember the name of it. Make sure if you order that be specific how you want the egg cooked. Unfortunately I ended up with over easy. So the second I bit into it I ended up with yolk all over my hands and plate and table in front of me! Not to mention dribbling down my chin! Sat at counter , waitress wasn't busy , waitress was friendly (sorry all I can say good) . She was playing on her phone (doing mostly odd jobs) , I ran out of coffee waiting for my order (took almost 45 minutes to receive) , cook in back had rang the bell for my order as she played and made coffee (wasn't out , just made more) , 7 min. after bell rang finally went back to serve (she said careful plates HOT) of course sat under heat lamps all of that time , asked for more coffee and sat another 7 min. without silverware or coffee and the eggs got rubbery from sitting under the lamp . Not a great experience...and it took a long time. The server was friendly but sarcastic. The turkey dinner wasn't good. The turkey was very chewy. The stuffing was burnt. Everything was salty. Denny's is awesome. Their waitresses are so friendly and always asking if you need anything. They are fairly quick, depending on the day, and how busy they are. Here lately they've been short staffed, so it may take longer to get seated and to get your food, but the food is still 10 out of 10. The caramel banana pancakes are delicious by the way. read more

Well the waitress was cute. After our shower came in for breakfast. I ordered 55+ Omelet plus an English muffin. Mine was Dagwooded out with bacon yum and my cheese was nicely melted! Yes! The boy has his usual Burbon chicken skillet. And they had one rubbery piece of chicken. It the other was fine. She offered to make it over but he just ate it ( like a good trucker lol). She did bring him sweet tea twice lol when he was truly drinking grumpy ( unsweet) tea. So funny cause we had just told her he gets sweet tea by mistake sometimes and he adds Splenda and blahhhhhhhh!!! So funny and she did it twice!! So we all had a good laugh. read more

I would prefer to give 1 star. We were 2nd to be seated, first couple was seated & then a few minutes later, we were seated. The gentleman took our drink order & went on to assist other tables. There were two women standing behind the "bar" who appeared to be there for decoration because they did nothing. One of them looked at me twice & continued to just stand. We sat for 10-15 minutes, never received our drinks or had our order taken. While I'm never that thrilled to come here, Denny's can often win out for the highway stop off, convenience factor. And...the food is surprisingly good and a large menu with plenty of options to choose from. At the price point, you really can't set the bar too high. I only give the experience just 2.5 stars due to the worst, slowest service I've had in probably years. I wished I could say it was just an off-day but after seeing other reviews, it appears that is not so. Pretty sure it took well over an hour to bring out 4 meals and the place was nearly empty so it was trying all of our patience. This is by far the worst Denny's I've been to. I don't know why they family continues to want to come. They're never busy but they are always VERY slow. Took us 10 minutes to be seated and 5 more to been seen by a waitress. This place is almost empty. I counted 7 booths that were dirty. They have 6 waitress' on duty. Wendy was on break and decided to help us once she noticed we weren't being helped. Every time we come to this Denny's I leave disappointed. We stop here regularly when we're traveling I-81. Food is decent and the staff is friendly and responsive. This last time we were heading north for a family event and stopped for gas and lunch. Everyone, including our 4 year old granddaughter enjoyed the food and the server was very nice. Good pit stop on a long trip. read more

Don't do it!!! Going here was the biggest mistake I've made in a while. First off, let me say that since I didn't have the option of giving half a star... I'm forced to give a full star. Here is what happened. 1) It's customary for there to be a somewhat cheerful hostess at the front of the restaurant; someone who will greet you and then look for a table where you can be seated. The hostess at this location was clearly not used to being courteous. Instead she gave us a *deer in the headlights* look without even saying goodmorning. 2) We sat for more than half an hr before the waitress came to check on us. She then proceeded to bring our beverages...hot tea and orange juice. The white coffee cups still had coffee stains from the previous users and the glass for the orange juice had baked on milk stains. We alerted the waitress and she didn't even apologize. Instead she pushed the blame on the dishwasher who they have been having problems with. WTF!!! Newsflash: your customers dont give a rats ass about problems with employees that you have behind the scenes!!!! All we care about is that we have a clean environment in which to dine, good food and great service. 3) She then brought us our breakfast items. No sooner did we start to parttake in our dishes that the FLIES also joined us!!!! Not one .....but two for each plate... (SERIOUSLY)!!!! 4) The potholders that covered the skillet dishes were filthy as well. At some point, as a waitress you have to stop analyse what is being sent to your customers. This is a truck stop location, so perhaps the clientele generally may expect to go in and out quickly and get back on the road. Christmas Day after a movie and this was the only place around that was open (plus another Denny's down the road in Winchester on US-11 that had a very crowded parking lot). I only saw three waitresses covering the whole restaurant, and the manager was breaking a sweat. The food arrived as ordered and we all liked what we had. I generally find the entree's at Denny's "heavy" but you can work the menu to meet your particular appetite. I had the apple-chicken breast-pecan-cranberry salad with raspberry viniagrette dressing, and wife had the senior shrimp skewer. Side of spinach with bacon and pico de gallo was outstanding. Her side salad was very good too. Daughter had a burger and fries--she liked the burger, but said the fries were a bit mooshy. The place needed a bit of picking up (vacuuming) but most likely, as it was Christmas, perhaps a few of the "help" called in sick and stayed home to be with family. Waitress was a bit harried but polite at the same time. We tipped generously because the circumstances were beyond her control, and it was Christmas Day too. They offer 20% discount with AARP card, so that's pretty decent. read more

Here we go, a full service diner in a "flying j" and they have a counter so if your an "on duty" driver you might luck out. Danny's is my favorite place to go but this Danny's is absolute 0 ( zero ) : Only the hostess was polite and brought me to my table . Than , I awaited with other 4 people for waitress / servers who were observing me and other guests and not doing Notting . Eventually , I noticed that the other three individuals were leaving so I approached the hostess and sad that she needs to report the servers for O ( zero ) performance and O ( zero ) hospitality !!!! Honestly, been driving for over 4 years, as far as a truck stop, it's okay. The Denny's however is hands down the best I've been to. Fast service, great service, great hot food. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. It's Denny's not a nyc rooftop restaurant. It's not hard to be kind and kindness is returned. Me and my boyfriend have traveled this route many times in 6months and stopped here many times since he is a trucker. The first few times no complaints at all, easy to please people. About a month ago, bee waited for a to - go order this time being our first that wasn't dine in. My burger wasn't cooked half way and I got so sick. He called the manager before leaving the parking lot and offered a free meal next time we were ready to use it. Went for breakfast And no tables were clear but 3 servers and maybe 4 couples worth of people. We waited for 30mins for horrible coffee and tea as time passed she kept forgetting us and topping all the drinks off. After over an hour we politely got up and left because eggs, hash browns and biscuits with this little amount of people is uncalled for. We're trying to get home and this stop just isn't it anymore. We stopped in for a late breakfast. We were seated promptly and ordered right away. The food was delivered piping hot and was delicious. I had the Sante Fe Skillet. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The coffee was hot and tasted great. Our server was very busy, but kept our glasses full and checked on us often. We keep trying to give this Denny's another chance since it is in a good location for us, but after our latest visit, and having read the other reviews, we've decided it doesn't deserve one. Recently we joined the line waiting to be seated, (behind the line waiting to pay), when finally a waitress came out from the kitchen, scowling. She then said "you'll all have to wait, I need to pee!". I know everyone has to 'go', but having people who've obviously been waiting for some time, you would think a shout to a fellow waitress or manager would have been in order. This Denny's always appears to be badly understaffed, and those that are working are very, very unhappy people, which reflects in their service to the customers. Who ever owns or runs this establishment apparently does not care one bit about the service they are not giving, because cold food, dirty utensils, bad service, goes on repeatedly. read more
