Stopped here heading homeward one time. The Women's bathroom had some plumbing issues on that day. But the food was good. I do really like Denny's breakfast. The build your own grand slam is my favorite, as I really like their whole grain pancakes, alongside over medium fried eggs. Which is what I ordered, along with a side of fresh fruit. Hubby got the chicken quesadilla, which he enjoyed. We had to wait a bit, but not an excessive amount of time. The waitress friendly. Denny's gives a discount for AARP members, which is also helpful. Not fantastic fusion food, but good and straight up American diner cuisine. read more

I checked on the PETA website before meeting some friends at Denny's and was pleasantly surprised with all the vegan options! I order the veggie skillet (without eggs). It was really oily and salty (which I'm sure tastes good for many people), but my stomach wasn't used to so much oil and salt. Otherwise, I would have given it five stars. read more

I really wanted to like this Denny's. It's in a super convenient location, and has been thoroughly remodeled in the past year, so it looks great. Also, they have that new Coke machine thing that mixes any Coca Cola flavor you can imagine. This place gets packed on weekends, though I can hardly see why. Not sure if they're simply understaffed or if we keep coming at the wrong time, but the service is awfully slow. I drink an unhealthy amount of coffee here, but good luck trying to find your waitress for a refill. I've gone multiple times since the remodel, each time hoping the experience would be passable enough to write a decent review for these guys, but calling it "hit-and-miss" would be very generous. Will gladly continue eating at Denny's, but I'll be avoiding this one in the future. read more

Never had worse service at this Denny's than any other Denny's I have ever been to. Tonight we were the only couple waiting on a table and there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. Waited 5 minutes and left. This Denny's has been like this for 20 years. No joke. read more

Love Denny's on IH 69 Calallen!! Food is hot and always consistent. Their hand pressed hamburger patties are delicious and their breakfast are great too. Their specialty pancakes taste better than IHOP. Rich, buttery and sweet! Yum! read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I ordered a chicken bowl and it's supposed to come with rice but when I got it, it didn't come with it and not much of anything on the plate.. so I tell my server and then he comes back and says they don't have rice so I pick to get potatoes or something so I'm here waiting on my potatoes and like keep in mind my family is already half done with their food so I'm still waiting and then we tell our server about it and he says they never dropped it so I'm over it at this point and like I ask for the menu for something else so I get mozzarella sticks and they take forever so by the time I get them my family is done with their food and my cheese sticks were hallow and overcooked. This is the second time at this establishment where I have the worst experience. keep in mind it was not busy just like 3 other tables.. Shout out to my server tho he was doing his job and was a great server. I didn't get his name but he was a black man. We went to the restaurant with not a lot of people waiting and a lot of of empty tables not being cleaned as they emptied and looked like plenty of staff. Within about twenty minutes no one had still greeted us and now about twenty people waiting to be seated and still tables not being bussed. About this time the manager same by to deliver an order outside and told everyone to practice the social distancing and we all told the manager that no one was even taking names to seat us and with three minutes tables were being bussed and people being seated. In my opinion this establishment is being very poorly ran and needs much better organization and people assigned specific tasks and staying with that task. We arrived here at 11:13 A.M. seated by about 11:45 and order did not brought to us until 12:20. Waitress was excellent and apologized for long wait. My parents went to this Denny's 11/11/19 to celebrate Veteran's Day and their 52nd wedding anniversary. My dad was really looking forward to his complimentary Veteran's Day grand slam. They checked in at 11:30, placed their order, enjoyed their meal and then received their bill. The waitress knew damn well that my father was a veteran and was looking forward to his meal yet she placed their order at 12:01- one lousy minute after the cut off. My parents were unaware of the cutoff time and were very unhappy. The manager Lorraine and register clerk Chris refused to honor the free meal because the lazy waitress couldn't enter the order in time for a veteran on Veteran's Day! read more

Usually like eating at Dennys but this one did not meet our expectations. The food was very greasy and coffee wasn't hot. Silverware was dirty and the women's restroom needs serious cleaning, especially the floor. On the up side, our server was awesome. She's the only reason we'd consider going back. read more

The restaurant was filthy, food all over the floor. The upholstery on the seat was ripped and cracked. The springs under the bench seats were gone. Our waitress told us she had been up for 48 hrs. She didn't bring our appetizer before the meal. She didn't give us silverware or plates until we asked. Our orders were wrong. Hit and miss -- food is usually pretty good. Place looks MUCH better after remodel but service mostly the pits. We go often late for dinner - and used to sit at the bar, thinking service would be better. it's not, and you get the added fun of getting to hear the help argue with each other all the time. And the cooks too. So lately we have been just doing take out. Less hassle. One Mgr Rachel is good -- newest one had the customer service' NOT" to get into an argument with my husband because he asked to keep the water pitcher and the waitress let him. He has a throat condition and drinks a LOT of water, and can choke very easily. He will easily down an entire pitcher of water in a meal - and when you can't ever get refills = you do what you have to do. In our case, since the argument with the manager - we don't got there anymore. also, they are often out of things as well - pot roast, the bourbon bbq sauce for the hamburgers. read more

I like Denny's, not this one. I've had repeated bad service/food here. I've ordered French toast that somehow was crusted in black pepper. Today I ordered hash browns that came out still white and cold, sent them back and waited 25 min before finally canceling my order and leaving, no coffee refill offered, no water brought. Terrible service from Jennifer, we got the wrong drinks and once she even served us decaf coffee instead of regular. My husband didn't even get his coffee until we reminded her. Driving to harlingen from San Antonio I was just happy to see a breakfast place that wasn't a taqueria. After reading the reviews for this dennys I was nervous but hungry. First let me say I am huge on customer service and cleanliness. Appears this location has just went through a remodel and it looks good. Table and seat was clean...check ....bathroom is clean...check. This is where the issue lies there appears to be no leadership in the kitchen or among waiters. A lot of confusion ..... You may have more than one waitress come to take your drink order. If you sit next to the kitchen you feel like you're an episode of kitchen nightmares, a lot of fussing. However somehow despite this your food will come out hot, within A reasonable amount of time and your waiter will be pleasant. If the manager feels like working the cash register you won't wait too long to pay your ticket. We were in and out in an hour. read more

TERRIBLE service!!! Jennifer the manager does not know what costumer service is.. aside from having me waiting for over an hour for a small to go order (which was cold and missing items) when it wasn't even busy, she has the audacity to blame her new cooks for why the food isn't ready instead of just apologizing for the inconvenience.... and then..instead Of going to help her waiters out with taking care of other costumers, she waits for the sitting costumers to leave and is quick to take the tips on the table! I wouldn't recommend this specific location to Anyone!! I really hope the costumer service improves soon..and a good place to start would be by replacing this so called "manager" because this is totally unfair to the poor waitresses/ waiters who are actually doing the work and to the paying costumers.. we pay for a service, not to watch you sit on your behind and just bark orders to your waiters. read more

Sat down at the bar thinking it'd be faster since there was a waitlist. After sitting for nearly ten minutes I got up to get my own menus. Twenty minutes later and we still hadn't even ordered drinks. At that point there were tables available so we got a table. Got drinks and ordered food all pretty quickly but our waitress was just not friendly. I even addressed her by name every time trying to be warm and friendly, still nothing. It seemed like there was no rhyme or reason to the service. There was literally a girl running back and forth. The place wasn't even full. I don't know if they were understaffed or just really poorly trained but it was so terrible. Our food cane out and portions of it were luke warm. I guess out of my own stupidity , I keep returning to this Denny's location in hopes that the food, service, and staff will some how magically improve. I've been there with my family maybe a handful of times in the last 6 months and have had 1 good waiter. This place is a joke. The whole experience is so bad, it makes me wonder if I'm literally on a prank show. We've had a waiter throw our straws at us, and I've seen our food sitting on the ledge only to receive it 17 minutes later, cold and inaccurately made. The straw that broke the camels back was our experience last night. I let my son choose where we were going to eat and i grimaced at his choice of Denny's, however i decided we would give it another try. We get there and are promptly seated. Then it begins... We waited roughly 12 minutes to have our drink order taken and another 10 minutes to receive said drinks mind you there were only 2-3 other parties there. During the wait, you could see all of the waitresses just standing around, gossiping, and giggling like school girls. When the managers started doing their rounds in the restraunt, it became apparent why the waitresses deemed their behavior as acceptable. The managers were loud , cheesy suck ups to put it nicely. When we finally got our order taken, I ordered the salmon skillet, my husband ordered the lumber jack slam with crispy hash browns and over easy eggs , and my son ordered the mac n cheese. After 31 minutes of patiently waiting for our food, it finally arrives and let me tell you, it was not visually appetizing and we could immediately tell it wasn't made to our specifications. My salmon skillet was missing the broccoli, there were hardly any mushrooms, the spinach was limp and brown in the middle, the tomatoes and potatoes looked old as if they'd been nuked at least twice. The salmon itself had a nice season to it, however it was tough on the outside. I jokingly told my husband I thought it was microwaved. When we informed management of my missing broccoli the "cook" quickly and loudly mentions that my broccoli was indeed left in the microwave... The microwave! My son's mac n cheese was 50 shades of yellowish orange. My husband's hash browns were pale and limp. The over easy eggs were raw and runny not in the center but around the edges! It literally looked like the eggs were sitting in water! When I brought this to the attention of the manager she argued with me stating that's how over easy eggs are cooked and that's how they make them there. I thought to myself maybe, just maybe they can redeem themselves with dessert. That opened up a whole new can of worms. My husband ordered the banana split and I ordered the blueberry cake with ice cream. After waiting at least 20 minutes , my husband's dessert arrives covered in more chocolate syrup than Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Where was my dessert? No where to be found, just like my waitress but of course they still managed to place it on my ticket. The manager did apologize stating there was no excuse, however the whole time she was doing nothing but making excuses. My son is puking from the mac n cheese this morning and I get the busy signal when I try to contact them. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this location. The Staff tries, however service is always slow and inconsistent. Food can be inconsistent as well. Some items on a plate can be hot, some cold. Had a hair in a burger once, Staff corrected the problem quickly. Never seem to have enough personnel, long lines to be seated and to cash out. My family & I were very hungry & very disappointed so we left. 2nd Denny's we had a bad experience at in the CC area in the same day. worst experience ever, my wife and I stopped there for breakfast on our way to Mexico from Houston, Texas several times over a period of about 5 months in 2016. first time in May 2016 my wife was served coffee on a damaged/leaking cup, and the food was cold. (complained to supervisor), next time about a month latter, a hair was on my wife's food. also complained to supervisor (by the way supervisor is a Hispanic guy) he did not seem to care about it. next time also about a month latter even though nothing significant happened we were very disappointed with the service? about a month latter I found a piece of plastic in my grits, supervisor did not seem to care either. filed a complaint with the Department of Health in Corpus Cristi, Texas against Danny's. will not ever stop at Denny's on Highway S. 77 in Corpus Christi, tx read more
