I don't wanna leave a review for the food. We all know Denny's food. It's not that good. We go when nothing else is open and we want a cheap decent meal. However, I'll leave a short quick review on the food my boyfriend and I got: Build Your Own Chicken Wraps : Okay Breakfast Slam : Ugh. That's how our stomachs felt after eating it. Italian Sampler : Not going to lie, actually kind of good. Good AND filling. If I come here again I would probably get this as an entree. I really want to review our server. Sadly, I didn't get her name (I know I know, leave a review for an employee and not have her name?) But hear me out: she made this place enjoyable for us. I can describe her the best I can. She has short blonde hair, I think she dyed it. Short blonde hair and glasses. She's great, I love her. In fact, I wanna go back just so she can serve me again. Her presence made my food just that much better. She told us "do you want straws or are we saving turtles?" C'MON. Super sweet girl. Plus, she was so natural and comfortable with her job. She asked both me and my boyfriend so much questions on our questions like how we want everything altered. So much questions I felt like I was getting interviewed. Pretty disappointed.. the place was almost empty. Decided to stop here for lunch since it was late and our kids were hungry. They had us seated but took 30 minutes to ask us if we wanted anything to drink. Then sat there for an additional 30 waiting for our order to be taken for food with two hungry kids. The manager processed to tell us they're closed however, they accept and made my doordash order than I had to wait outside for 10 mins in the cold before anyone would acknowledge someone standing at the door and calling the restaurants phone. If you're closed that means you're no longer putting out orders or accepting them.. Managers seems very shady. read more

I called on Easter Sunday during the last 30 mins of closing for a pickup order. The young lady who answered the phone was very polite, helpful, kind-hearted, and Fantastic. I have been to this place many many times, and the service was never speedy... but WOW.... They have this new waitress "Ariel" and our service got worse, because we got situated in her section twice now, and boy am I PISSED! This last time we went, it was about 11:15 PM and we would expect that since there ware hardly any customers, and what appeared to be ample staff, that we would be served politely and swiftly, but were certainly wrong. Some people, myself included just shouldn't be in the service industry. I tried being a server in a restaurant, and I can honestly say that I sucked at it, and would never do it again. This Ariel waitress needs to come to the same realization. Took forever to get our coffee. Despite being seated in a place where I can see her running back and forth like she has no idea what she's doing. I called someone else over, whom I can only assume was the manager for this shift, and she had the girl bring us our coffee... after having to make a new pot because she brought everyone else theirs first.. Even tho we were like the 2nd table seated... but whatever... When we finally got our food order in, she walked away and didn't come back for a really long time.. we needed our water and coffee refilled while waiting.. Now.. I SAW the cook put our food up onto that counter ledge... and it sat there... and sat there.... and sat there.... AND SAT THERE for, I kid you not, TWENTY MINUTES before this ditz picked it up and brought it to us!! Naturally I made a complaint about the food being COLD because it sat up there for 20 minutes between prep and delivery. Also the eggs on my skillet were supposed to be scrambled... but, so as not to appear to be "that customer" I didn't return it.. Not for being cold and not for the really SMALL portion I got.. for the same skillet I always order... Whatever! I didn't say anything... UNTIL I WAS PULLING HAIR OUT OF THE FOOD! At that point I was like "Oh hell no" and I had to say something and have the food returned.. The cook did up a new skillet and I had to sit there and eat ALONE because my hubby was already finished eating by then and was agitated because he likes to go out and smoke after eating so I had to rush thru my meal.. it was horrible. The food is good. Just what you expect from dennys;however, the service was very disappointing from the entrance. The attendant at the front seemed as if he didn't want to seat anyone and was not familiar with how to seat anyone. Perhaps needs more training. His face had bad expression as of someone not happy to see anyone. Not good for front face of restaurant. The ambiance was particularly older people. The hour of which we attended could possibly be the reason. Around 10:00qm. The ambiance of the staff however was very robotic. Walk back in forth doing their jobs, but zero facial expression. Even when taking our order. Seemed very scripted, not welcoming. Would not want to return, at least to this staff. I would not be surprised if they had an early meeting and the boss yelled at them. That is the attitude they all seemed to have, very down, disappointing, stressed, and unhappy. Possibly some pep talk needed or training on servicing. read more

Placed a to-go order and items were missing from the bag. Had to drive back to pick up the remaining items that I paid for. Questioned whether or not I paid already and kept my receipt. She even rescanned the receipt before grabbing my food, to make sure I paid. I do not recommend this location and suggest checking your to-go order before driving all the way home. read more

Best Denny's in Oceanside. The food is always great... we will drive 10 extra miles to get to this location instead of going to the one closest to our home. On busy days there is a wait but it's worth it. The waiters are always friendly and attentive. read more

I love this Denny's. We go at least once every other month roughly and some of the waiters seem to know us. The service every time I've went has been excellent! Always showing concern, checking on us. One girl even let me order from the senior menu. The menu options are bit skimpy though, but that's up to the corporate office obviously. They really trimmed down the options whereas they upscaled the decor in the past few years. Atmosphere is lovely! As for the food, it's been a hit, hit then the dreaded MISS! I guess it just depends on who the cook and server at the time is. Have been here at this location with amazingly cooked meals!!! And other times with shriveled potatoes, overcooked eggs, un-buttered toast, etc.. That was actually our experience tonight unfortunately. We did come later than usual, between 8-9pm, so maybe there best cooks and servers are scheduled during the main dinner rush? Idk, that's just a guess. So basically some times this is a 4 star, whereas other times it's a 2, which is why I came up with 3, lol! :) read more

It's Sunday morning and it's crowded and it takes awhile to get seated- that's okay, I get it. What's NOT okay: after finally being seated waiting another eternity for a waiter. Then our waiter was totally incompetent. Twice asked for coffee and it wasn't ready, he had to brew it. (Really? No coffee at a diner? During breakfast??) Our bill was wrong, my boyfriend was charged for coffee when he only got water. When waiter went to correct it, he took off wrong item. I heard waiter flirting with teenage girls behind us. We are Oceanside locals and this is the 2nd time we have gone to this location. It was worse than the first experience. Our family (two adults, one kid) went in yesterday for a late lunch, we were seated quickly but no one came back nor looked in our direction for 5 minutes. Had there not been a claw machine game to distract the time we would have left before we even ordered. Our waiter gets to us for our drink order and is sweating profusely! I do not blame anyone for being hot and sweaty in this California weather but when you are drenched in sweat and it is pouring from your face (literally), your manager needed to have you change or go home!!! There were 6 employees (I counted) on shift and only three tables (maximum) that had customers. We are personal trainers so normally we love to make people sweat but you are NOT in a gym, you are touching people's drinks and food! So, once again we were not sure if we should get up and leave because to be honest it grossed us out. We waited Forever for the food which I figured at this rate, would be the case. My sons mac n cheese (not hard to make, it's from a box) was burnt and he is "Not" a picky eater. My husband ordered your basic breakfast and it was average for Dennys but the egg whites were beyond mushy and the fruit bowl was mushy and brown. Gross!! When the waiter brought my husband and sons food he said sorry yours is going to take longer. My husband was politely waiting to eat until my food came but when I realized 10 minutes had gone by and his food was cold and my food was still not there, I wanted to leave ASAP. My food shows up and it was laughable. I ordered the turkey club and I make no joke when I say (it looked like a child made it). It was pathetic. I normally take pictures of food for my yelp reviews and I completely forgot because my brain could not wrap around the fact that we had sat in this establishment for over 40 minutes, I was just getting my food after my husbands was cold, the waiter was nowhere to be found the entire time we were there but yet he was still sweating all over, there were no customers besides a table that wasn't even his, like what in the world! My husband had ordered coffee for his drink when we first got there and the waiter "finally" (30 minutes of it being empty) asked him "after" they got their food, if he wanted a refill. My husband politely said yes and I am sure you can guess what happens next, he never came back and refilled my husbands coffee. One table to take care of and you did nothing. The manager (lady) was off to the side with 3 of the employees laughing and joking while we were waiting up front to pay our bill. Our waiter came up to be our cashier once he realized no one was coming. It took everything in me to not tell him that realistically we should NOT be paying for anything! We did not eat our food. Then, right as we're paying I see a sign that says kids eat free after 4 on Saturdays. I asked him if that is true and he acted stunned like we weren't supposed to know. Long story long, we left Dennys and went to Quik Wok (in the same parking lot as Dennys, it was amazing). During this entire ordeal and God awful experience we were nothing but sweet and polite through the whole thing. But honestly, how much should customers have to take before they speak up. We are business owners here in Oceanside and we strive for raving fans, amazing customer service and consistency. We bend over backwards for our customers. We will never come back and I will make sure I steer people away from this establishment. read more

This is a great Denny's location. I come here twice a week at night while in town for work and Marina is one of the best servers around. She's always very attentive and friendly. Food is always quick and hot. If you're in town and hungry definitely stop by for a quick snack! read more

The Good: the rotund white host was your best point. He was friendly and seated us promptly. The Ugly: After the host sat us down, we sat and decided what to eat after a long weekend camping in the indian reserve without warm food. 4 times did a waitress walk right by our table over 30 minutes without so much as a hello to reply to mine. Not even water on the table. We sat politely waiting to be helped and received none. The table also had dried food goo puddles stuck to the top surface. I haven't been to any Denny's in about 3/4 years so this has been my most recent experience. I will say that the food was very good. I order the country fried steak with eggs and my wife ordered the grand slam slugger. It did seem that they were alittle slow on our end of actually getting the food but I didn't mind. It was however weird to me though that I felt as though they were understaffed for waiters/waitresses. Came to Denny's tonight May 7, 2019 to enjoy some coffee and French toast with my family. We were all sitting and laughing and talking when we were rudely told to keep it down from the manager Ryan. There was no complaint from any other customers in the lobby of a noise problem. He came out of nowhere and told us in a rude tone. As a manager in a local restaurant I would never talk to my customers in a tone like he did. This guy Ryan needs to learn some customer service and some respect to people and their families. We are a regular at this location on college Blvd know everyone by first name and they know us by first name and for Ryan to come up to us and say this to us is just disrespectful. First time eating at this location. Plenty of parking. We came here on Veteran's Day Monday. Came here close to 8:50am. The wait was not long at all. About 15 minutes. The place was clean including the men's restroom. We all ordered the Make Your Own Grand Slam. That was the Veteran's Day special. Our food came out in about 10 minutes. Good time! Our waiter forgot the extra sausage. He quickly came back with them. Our waiter was somewhat attentive but still good on this special holiday. Overall the staff are very nice and professional. I wish I had asked for the two girl's names who were working in the front during my visit on 2/18, because they were amazing! I ordered very late, close to closing time , through Uber and showed up shortly after placing my order. I was welcomed very pleasantly and to my surprise, my order was already ready! While the server was quickly finishing packaging my order, the other waitress in the front asked if I'd like some water, almost like she read my mind, because I was going to ask for a cup of water to go. The bathroom they smell great smell that way from sitting down and as I entered the building last night the waiter he was good pretty much on his job you know. The cook didn't pay attention to the order the Denny's mozzarella stick sandwich get french fries there were no french fries at it the waiter had some brought later. I asked for eggs over easy only to see that the eggs have been brought to me scrambled that was a Cook's fault but as a representative of Danny's as a waiter I would have looked at my customers play observed it to see if that was what they ordered and I would have sent it back and let the cook know that he didn't or she didn't prepare the meals correctly as to how they ordered it and wanted the meal prepared. I just came back from here and I am full. I am SO full because I built a rockin grand slam. I love being able to customize my meals! It makes me feel like a breakfast god. There are good Denny's, and there are bad Denny's. This Denny's is a good Denny's. Everybody's friendly and the place is clean. Anddd, their fruit cup is great. Most breakfast places don't take fruit seriously. Why? I don't get that. Fruit is an important thing, people. It's in the food pyramid. Doesn't that mean something? This Denny's gets it right. I got a parfait cup filled to the top with juicy cantaloupe, freshly cut bananas, and sweet purple grapes. And none of my grapes had creepy grey or soft spots on them! Good fruit sides happen, like, 2 out of 10 times when I order them at a breakfast place. Nicely done, Denny's. Also, they have a bunch of healthier options for breakfast now. Egg whites, granola, and yogurt, to name a few. I haven't tried the yogurt, but the granola and egg whites are good. So, I'm satisfied. And now I'm going to take a nap and sleep through the rest of the afternoon, because I ate way too much. Man, I love winter break. read more

Yeah, I know it's "low-brow" but I'm a sucker for the Western Burger (ask for the regular BBQ sauce instead of the one it comes with) with seasoned fries. It is one of the best crap burgers I've had. It's about 8 bucks, 9 if you get the seasoned fries. Yum. This specific location has the best Western burger also. Oh, and ask for Paula. Best waitress there. :) read more
