Stopped in for a quick lunch around 2pm on a road trip. If you are new to Denny's , it's a classic dinner that serves breakfast all day, along with standard dinner fare. Ceramic plates, metal utensils, and cloth napkins. Service was excellent as we were seated and our drink orders taken within a few minutes. I had the triple meat bacon cheeseburger without a bun and coffee. It came with some pretty amazing fires as well. The burger clicked all the right buttons. Flavorful, juicy, cheesy, and bacony. lol Our total for two meals and coffees was $36. I wanted to give our waitress' name, Keely. She was by to check on us just the right amount as well as a male waiter who I did not get his name. When we were checking out, the manager also asked how our experience here had gone. One of the best service experiences I have had at a Denny's. I can not understand the low ratings unless there was a recent management change? Anyway I would definitely recommend them. read more

This was the second time we have been here with poor service. I had to get up and stand by the coffee pot to get a refill. We ordered the Country Fried Steak breakfast. My hasbrowns were barely cooked and I ordered them extra crispy. My wife's hasbrowns were barely cooked and still "crunchy" raw. Her eggs were ordered "over medium" and they came with the whites runny. She sent her plate back and when it returned the eggs were over cooked and the hash browns looked like they scraped the edge of the griddle and gave her the greasy overcooked leftovers. I wish I had thought to take a photo but it was gross. When I went to check out the cashier asked if everything was alright. I said no my wife's breakfast was not okay. She never said a word and just rang up the transaction. The bill was over $56 and I would have been better off going to a fast food restaurant for a lot less. I will not be coming back. This saddens me because we have had very good service in past years, however these past two visits have shown that things have changed and we will be looking for another breakfast place. I'm here in Palestine Tx for the weekend with the husband so while he is at Drills i decided to go to Dennys and sit for a min before i pick him up.....its basically a go to anywhere you travel....okay walked in at about 6:50 am and was greeted with a smile and a hello by the young lady in the front...I didn't catch her name...was seated in the back where I like it and was greeted by another waitress older lady Ms. Shirley...reminds me of my auntie...very nice and sweet...she took my order and within 10 min my food came...hot and fresh and my eggs the way I like it...overall the food was good the service was excellent and very clean and the place wasn't full nor empty but it was just right for me not alone of ppl. read more

I asked your server to cut toast from my order and replace it with hashbrowns. I was then charged for an additional order of hashbrowns. The server was NOT professional enough to express there would be an additional charge for the hashbrowns that were to replace toast. The cashier said they would ensure the servers are better trained in the future. All this was POOR customer service. And earlier while I'm seated at the furthest booth in Denny's next to the convenience store hall the manager loudly tells his staff in the kitchen to keep dirty dishes off the counter. Also, the wait to be seated, and to pay was too long. The two counter attendants were more much more interested in yapping to each other than to taking care of customers. Neither I or my guest were impressed with our experience and will NOT return anytime soon. We have been going to this Denny's in Palestine Texas since they opened. But the last few years, they have really gotten better. The Managers, Jeffrey, Tyler, Tanya & Jarrod are outstanding. They check on their customers, and they help the servers when really busy. And all their servers and hosts are great with smiles that make you feel welcomed. We feel more like family than just customers with this location. Would highly recommend for breakfast, lunch, dinner or just dessert. Menu's offer a wide variety of food. read more

We have been going to this Denny's in Palestine, Texas, since they opened. My husband and I think it has only gotten better with Managers & Servers. I hate naming them and missing someone, but Managers Jeffrey, Tyler, Tanya, & Jarrod are absolutely such hard workers. They are always helping the Servers when needed and check on customers. The servers they have now are outstanding, always checking on their customers. I would highly recommend this place for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or just desserts. The food and service really was I think the best Denny's we've been to! It's hubby's 'go to' restaurant when driving on trips too! I wish I got the waitress' name but she was the only one there when we just left. They're lucky to have such an efficient worker! The multigrain pancakes were perfect but actually too much. We were pleasantly surprised tonight in eating at the local Dennys. Weren't sure what to expect with a restaurant connected to a gas station/ truck stop. It was worth it. The food was VERY good and came out pretty fast. Granted, they were not super busy since it was nearly 4pm, but still.... It was all hot and freshly prepared. I got the chicken fried chicken and it came out with 2 large fried breasts. I will be having that for lunch again tomorrow. My husband ordered the cinnamon roll pancake slam breakfast. He normally eats about half of his meal and takes the rest home. He ate the entire thing! The only thing they could have done to get 5 stars is our waitress could have been more attentive. Our drinks were never refilled and I finally had to call out to her to get my 'to go' box. She walked by a couple of times and didn't even glance our way to see if we needed anything. The restaurant was clean and was furnished with well appointed tables and booths. Not sure why more people are not going there. We'll be back. read more

Had a really good breakfast and service was excellent. The only real draw back was that my pancakes were raw on the inside. The waitress was apologetic and willing to get me some more but I didn't need to eat all of them anyway so it worked out in the end but not everyone would of been as accommodating as I was. read more

This was actually the first time I've ever eat at Denny's. I don't get out much. Service was slow, with four tables and one waiter. I ordered a half order of nachos and one other item. They claimed they were out of nachos. It's Palestine so this wasn't shocking as the worst representation of any national brand will be in Palestine, but nachos? I wondered if it was more of an issue with the cook staff not wanting to make them. Would I go back? Late night and hungry and since it's close to home? Sure. Would I go out of my way outside of those limited circumstances? No. The waiter was nice and I had no issues with him. It was a $29 meal for one person. If they want to get better reviews they could change ONE thing regarding customer service and that is to ACKNOWLEDGE AND GREET EVERYONE who comes in the door. We understand you're busy and understaffed and most of us are not trying to be jerks. Even if you just say "we will be with you shortly" and smile then people feel acknowledged and noticed which goes a long way even under the worst circumstances. This should be standard policy for all employees....anyone who sees a customer should at least make eye contact and smile. read more

By far the worst Denny's I've ever eaten at. Broccoli was half cooked and bowl full of water. Mashed potatoes had to have been made with water and not milk or butter. So gross. The country fried steak is a generic party that they serve in a high school. Horrible! THEN to top it off they don't take debit cards or credit cards. Should be something you post on your door! This was my first time eating at this Denny's while visiting my daughter and granddaughter. We were seated in the "corner", so service started off a bit slower. It was about 5 minutes or so before a waitress realized that we were there. Once she saw us, service took off like a rocket! The waitress was very attentive and service was awesome. The biscuits are tender and the scrambled eggs are done perfectly each time I've gotten them. Our last visit, I had so much food that I couldn't eat it all so my boyfriend benefited by getting some of mine. For me, this is THE breakfast place to go! I arrived with my 85 year old mom at about 6:30pm and was greeted only by a sign that told us to wait to be seated. After several minutes, an unkempt young man came out looking like he just rolled out of bed wearing sweatpants, a tee shirt and flip flops. He said he didn't know where the hostess was so he seated us in the dining area, which was almost empty. We ordered our food from Maribel V. and watched another couple arrive and then a single gentleman. Our wait stretched to 20 minutes while the couple who arrived later was served, as well as the single man, who actually finished eating and left before our food arrived. Finally, Maribel came to explain the long wait and told us that there was only 1 cook working. 30 minutes passed before our food finally arrived. I must say it was the worst meal I can recall being served in any restaurant in years. I was able to finish my entree, tasteless though it was, but could eat no more than 1 bite each of my side dishes or my burned dinner bread. My mom ate about 1/2 of her plate. More waiting for the check to arrive until finally we both stood up for several minutes beside our table to get Maribel's attention. The final insult was that the meal cost over $30 with tip (order #493636 at 7:14:46pm table #12). The whole experience was a HUGE disappointment and I won't ever return. read more

The worst service I've had in a long time. We waited over an hour and a half before we got our food. I had to ask the waitress 4 times before we even got our drinks. Then when taking our order, she refused to write it down and said she would remember. Well, she did not. So after waiting over an hour and a half for our food, it was completely wrong. We paid for our appetizer and coffee and left. When asked about the service, our waitress, Cory, rolled her eyes at me. She never once refilled our coffees or even visited our table during that hour and a half wait. The only person there that had a smile on her face and apologized was Kailey, the hostess. Placed an order to go and spent $12.98 and MY time to drive 10 minutes out and 10 minutes back home in support of Denny's. Not to mention I can cook at home far better than Denny's but again I didn't feel like cooking yesterday morning. Anyways, MY complaint is.. I ordered eggs to be cooked over medium and received near raw eggs. Called store and never did get to speak with a manager, phone was passed around a couple of times and without being placed on hold I was eventually told by someone "I could come back and get the two eggs". Again, only reason I paid money and gave my time to Denny's was because I didn't want to cook. I had eggs and other ingredients to prepare my own breakfast. When they first opened the service was attentive but very slow. They seem to have worked out the bugs. Lawanda was our server and she is on top of it. Food is great but when is breakfast not great. Only thing that was not great is they were out of sausage. They need to figure out there ordering but that should work itself out with a few weeks more of being open. read more

While a visit to Denny's is rarely a great experience, our visit to this Denny's was by far the worst. We waited the typical 20-30 minutes for a table on a Saturday morning. Once sat, our waitress took our drink order-coffee, plus water for a party of 5. Water came swiftly & she stated she would be right back with our coffee & to take our order. She disappeared before we could even protest that we were ready to order, but that's fine. She was gonna be right back with coffee, right? After waiting 25 minutes & seeing other tables that came after us getting food, we waved down another waitress & asked to speak to a manager. New waitress was delightful & brought the coffee & took our order. Manager Robert, came over to our table & after hearing what had occurred did NOTHING. He just made sure we had a waitress now. No apology, no offer to make things right, NOTHING. We left the new waitress a nice tip because she did a great job but we will NEVER go back. read more
