This review is for the HAWTHORNE BLVD LOCATION, next to DEL AMO MALL. The "Manager" for this location has shown real descrimination and poor customer service. My family and I; (4 adults and 2infants) went in to this location at around 10pm on Thursday; May 21, 2026. We requested for a booth and she said "you may not be able to be comfortable in a booth. There is a table for 4 available ". As we approached the table, we asked if we could sit in a 6 table capacity. She said and NO and that the table was reserved for a bigger party; we were a total of 7. And at the same time, she continued to raise her voice and said, "that's why I asked if you wanted a table, but she said she wanted a booth. And I can not give you this table because it is for larger capacity. We asked if we could add an extra chair at the end of the booth table, instead of placing the high chair. She refused. We were clearly not being accommodated. There were no other guests waiting after us for her to deny giving the 6 table capacity. As we were leaving, she walked to the back and was complaining to her staff and we asked for her name and she said, " I am not giving you my name!" We asked if she was the manager and she responded, "yes". What a disappointing experience for such a prime and tourist location. We felt harassed and discriminated. read more

Denny's is a comforting go to because they are always consistent with their service and food quality. It's not the best, but it's warm and sometimes has good deals. The service does take a bit too long usually. They do tend to be busy on Sunday mornings, but the time it takes to receive your food does seem excessive. I didn't get my side of fruit until I was finished with my meal. I am not sure why the fruit took the longest to come to the table. The veggie omelette was flavorless overall. I had to add quite a bit of tobacco sauce to give it life. The hashbrowns are always tasty. I was impressed that the seasonal fruit was made up of delicious strawberries, grapes, and pineapple and not just cantaloupe and honeydew. I will return to Denny's for its reliability, but I do hope the service is a bit faster. read more

America's Diner? Perhaps. This one is located in Torrance on Sepulveda Blvd off Maple Ave south of del Amo Mall and a couple of blocks from the YMCA. I've had brunch here with groups of friends and picked up meals for the fam. My stepdaughter is a fan of their sandwiches and fries. The food is fine with some meals better than others. I am partial to items on the value menu and whenever mom is available for items eligible for the 15 percent of AARP discount. Recently picked up nachos which my family loves. A yelp friend observed that they pack it well and separate the nachos from the salsa, cheese, and cilantro so that it does not get soggy. Service is hit or miss. 3 stars. We're not regulars here but I am sure I will be back when a friend or group invites me to join them for brunch here. read more

Had to swing by the supermarket to pick up some veggies. In the same shopping center is Denny's. Been here many times. Today, I noticed they had a promo for 5 Slams starting at $5.99 each. Walked in on a Sunday at 10:00. The restaurant was close to full capacity. I ordered the Super Slam to go. Great value and a tasty breakfast. Order is always wrong. We order the same thing frequently, at least every other week. I always place the order for pick up over the phone. And my husband picks it up. We usually just try to fix it ourselves at home. Today i ordered and again.. its wrong. This time my husband went back for a new burger! We were tired of it. Marina took the order (dbl bcn avo chsbrgr but meat cheese ONLY and bacon avocado on the side) and when i called back i spoke to Socorro, i let her know it was wrong (it had mayo which my husband doesn't eat and avocado on it. No bacon at all) and that he was going back for a new one, all she said was "okay, thats fine" i repeated to her- Dbl bacon avocado cheeseburger. Then i said MEAT CHEESE BACON AND AVOCADO ONLY. Avocado and bacon ON THE SIDE. She said "okay". When my husband arrived he said that Socorro had an attitude and told him it was our fault because we ordered wrong. He told her how he wanted the burger and they made a new one which was made EXACTLY the same way again!! He then tells Socorro its wrong again and she tells him they made it they way the notes(that marina left) says. He asked if the burger can be made the way HE TOLD HER. 2 meats 2 cheeses and bacon avocado on the side. The cook then comes to the front (visibly mad) and asks Socorro "whats wrong? Why do we keep remaking it?" When she starts talking, my husband (already annoyed) interrupts her and tries to speak to the cook himself but the cook rolled his eyes at him and walks away. During all this time im on and off the phone with my husband so he's telling me all this in real time. My husband also told me that there was no one else in the restaurant so it wasn't busy at all. At the same time Im also trying to call the restaurant a couple times to speak to a manager but now they weren't answering me. (My husband said Socorro was on the phone with possibly Marina because she was talking about our order being wrong) well I left a voicemail. Finally, His burger was made correctly the 3rd time! 5 Stars on service! Gentlemen (Frank) & young lady taking walk ins are friendly and try to seat everyone as quickly as possible. Even the bus boy smiled and wished us a great day. Then our server Jenna was such a sweetheart! She helped us right away, brought out drinks and food immediately. Food was served fast and hot! I even overheard a not so pleasant patron (who was not in her section) speak to her rudely and she brushed it off and was still pleasant towards her. WOW! We all know what we go to Dennys for, comfort diner food. However I've been to other locations where service and wait times have been terrible. I've always received good to average service at Denny's restaurants though out the SouthBay area. This Denny's hands down delivered a the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. I did try to understand that it was New Year's Day but the place wasn't too busy. Waitress never came to check on us after our meals were served. She seemed like she was upset. I had to go to the desk to ask for refill drinks. After I paid for the food, I let it be known that I wasn't very pleased with the service. Yesterday, we had yet another rainstorm that was not on the forecast, which is really annoying when you got little ones and not prepared, but ended up enjoying a rather cozy dinner at this Denny's, watching the rain through their large windows. The location is super easy to come in and out, large free parking lot, right on Sepulveda, pretty spacious inside with lots of classic Denny's style booth and tables, and the bathrooms were clean. The service was prompt and friendly, food is delicious, albeit not gourmet or anything. Crazy spicy skillet isn't crazy spicy so I can handle it fine, but you can also add heaps of hot sauce like my husband does. Came out fresh and hot on the skillet, with that mouth watering sound of oil sizzling on the hot pan. Delicious enough to scrape the plate clean, though a bit salty and a piece of something plain like bread would've been nice to round it out. Other dishes are similar, yummy, but slightly to the saltier side, though strangely kid's burger patty tasted unsalted and plain. read more

Our group of three seniors enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at this location recently. There was ample free parking in a safe and convenient area. The restaurant is clean, as were the restrooms, and we were seated in a comfortable booth next to a window with a view of the Madrona Marsh nearby. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. Elizabeth L, our server was friendly and helpful offering beverages and explaining menu items. We ordered the Grand Slam specials, such fresh and generous portions of bacon, sausages, fluffy scrambled eggs and airy pancakes. We enjoyed our meal leisurely and did not feel rushed. My family and I have been sorta regulars here for years usually coming in on a weekend or randomly popping in. Usually the service here is great. Today was the complete opposite. Today it was my elderly mother and myself and my baby niece. The waitress told us sit any where table here or booths in the back. We preferred booth, we waited just under 15 minutes for our order to be taken understandable when understaffed but continued to wait after 30 minutes we didn't have the 1 decaf coffee or coke or Childs apple juice no communication for the waitress my mother decided to ask for her coffee to the blonde lady who later pretended to be a manager for the coffee as she is diabetic and needed something to sustain the lady told her sure I'll bring it over and proceed to walk away this lady was at the drink station when my mother asked for the coffee. After the long wait and my mother not feeling well we decided to go I asked for a manager and the lady was rude as a manager myself I would have offered an apology and have attempted to make this better rather or offer an explanation she just said OK. While my buddy Cookie Puss would want to give 5 stars I'm settling at 4. I came here specifically to try the double cheeseburger and the patty melt. Both were excellent but the fact remains we had to eat them inside a Denny's. Eating breakfast at Denny's is one thing but eating dinner there is another. Service was average and lacked finesse or people skills. The fries and onion rings were serviceable but far from above average. With that said the patty melt and double cheeseburger were 5 star worthy if served elsewhere. Not to mention you would expect the price of these items to be less at a Denny's but I think the Bidenflation has struck here. One coke One coffee One DCB w/onion rings (small side) One patty melt with fries Total bill about $37. Seems high for a Denny's imo. $29 seems more appropriate. It's fine. 1- ambiance This is not a pretentious place. It is clean , however. It's a diner. My sister had a craving for pancakes over the weekend at 3 am and it just happened to be my birthday so that's how we ended up at Denny's in the wee hours of the night. I remember you used to just show your ID to get your free breakfast but now you have to sign up for your rewards program. Unfortunately when I tried to sign up there was an error on the site. When I explained that to our server, she said it was alright and just asked to check my ID. So happy! So I got my first free meal of the day and she added custard and sprinkles to my pancakes (and even asked first if that was okay). She also held a lighter and sang happy birthday which was so sweet. I feel terrible I don't remember her name, but she was one of the nicest servers I've had at a Denny's. All the birthday stuff may have been part of customer service guidelines, but this particular server was genuinely nice. It's hard to find places open 24/7 than it was pre-pandemic, but this particular diner was pretty quiet that early in the morning. Dishonest Business! I went to this location for a quick lunch. Almost no one was there but me and another couple who left right after I seated. Ordered food, and got it within a short time. Rice and fries were okay, but fish was like the cardboard with no taste, had to ask for some butter, and had to add some salt and pepper to make it somehow edible. Server was okay and attending, however when I wanted to pay, he OVERCHARGED ME BY 25%, possibly thinking I was not going to pick it up! WHEN OBJECTED ABOUT THE OVER CHARGING, HE SIMPLY CORRECTED IT WITH SADNESS (FOR BEING BUSTED) AND WITH NO APOLOGY. However, I tipped him 25% and told him I was doing it for his initial smile and attendance, but added I was not going to take it on him but his management who possibly instructed him to overcharge people.
