The front desk staff had my 16-year-old sign papers to pay for her dental treatment. On top of that, the hygienist asked my child if she wanted an additional $60 worth of services done. At that time, I was out of town. My 18-year-old and 16-year-old went in for teeth cleanings. They never called my husband or me to let us know that our insurance was outside of their network. They were supposed to call us and discuss everything before proceeding with the procedure. They told my 18-year-old that they had informed us about all procedures and payment options, but they never called us. Now, the front desk is telling me that my daughter is 18 years old and can sign any papers, even though they misled her by not informing us and having her sign the papers. My husband was out of work for nine months, and we were on Molina insurance. We had just set up our insurance and received calls to make appointments. For my dental treatment, they called me three times to schedule appointments. When I returned to the country and called to confirm, they told me we weren't covered with them, and I could not be seen. They could have done the same for my daughters. It was only a three-week difference between my girls' appointments and mine. How is it that they could see my daughters, but I couldn't be treated? They made a mistake. They didn't inform us that our insurance was out of network for Dental Designs. Now they want to send the bill to collections, even though we are not at fault. The front desk failed to make everything clear. PLEASE BEWARE OF THE SCAM DENTAL DESIGN IS PULLING. There must be many older people who don't even know they are being wrongly charged or given incorrect information. Having a 16-year-old sign payment papers is wrong. Telling false information to a 16- and 18-year-old is wrong. read more

There's a new sheriff in town!....Dr. Fisher. I've seen some reviews on Dr. Safari, who is no longer there. I've had extensive dental needs due to a bad accident many years ago. Dr. Fisher (who took over the business from Dr. Safari) and his staff have been great to work with and they create a fun atmosphere (lots of music). He made sure the work done by the lab was top-notch and worth what I paid for it. He wouldn't settle for shoddy work. On top of that, the staff are very warm, friendly, and helpful. I brought a family member there for services who has Alzheimer's and they were just as wonderful working with her needs. Great place, quality work, genuine people. read more

Dr Saffari was incredible but the new management is terrible. I went in to get a new retainer mold and was told it would be ready in 1 week. 4 weeks later I am told it is still 2 weeks out. Disappointed in their services, I canceled the order and was charged $170 the next day for canceling, even though they failed on their commitment. I was told on the phone I wouldn't be billed but they charged me anyway. Really disappointed. They also tried to get me in for 3 fillings and after I got a 2nd opinion I was told I have no cavities. Scammy! Disappointing! I hate that I can't trust a dentist practice with such a great former legacy. read more

I had my first experience here for a new patient consult. The building is easy to find and aesthetically pleasing. Inside you will find a hospitality of an assortment of beverages to welcome you. The staff was really nice and friendly from the receptionist to the Dental Assistant and of course the doctor himself. What I like about my first visit, Was the doctor asked me if he had a magic wand, What would I like to see about my smile and teeth in General and, I told him. I appreciate the way the Doctor was more focused on my dental health first and getting myself prepared for the things that I asked for. In conclusion he gave me his recommendations and the steps involved to make this realistically happen. He's very knowledgeable about all the Dental and Health questions associated that I had to ask. I will be returning and giving him repeat business until I have my overall smile back to normal and keep up maintenance. He has modern Dental technology that makes things go a whole lot easier and I appreciate that coming from a 70's and 80's kid era. My son and I have been seeing Dr. Saffari since he opened his doors (I think it's been 6 years) and I have always enjoyed him as a dentist and a person. He has lovely bedside manners and is very kind. The reason I am giving this business one star is because of this: my son and I sought a speciality care service at a biological dentist in Portland and asked that our X-rays be sent over for the other dentist to review before we had our appointment. When I contacted Dental Designs, Dr. Saffari's wife asked if we were permanently leaving their office and switching services to this new dentist. I informed her and made it very clear that we were not switching offices but only seeing this other dentist for a special procedure (one that our naturopath wanted us to receive). Although I made this very clear, she became very distraught and seemed to take it very personally. Moving forward, I could not find the date on my calendar for my son and I's upcoming appointment for a cleaning which I knew was in about three months. Within that 3 months time, I called their office probably up to 8 times asking them to please call me back and confirm our appointments. I also sent several text messages with zero response. It became very clear to me that they were intentionally not returning my calls or messages. About a week ago, our cleaning appointment popped up on my calendar and I decided I should call to confirm. I knew they wouldn't answer my call so I intentionally dialed *67 (if you don't know this code, it makes your number come up as unrecognized) before my number when I called and wouldn't you guess, they answered. When I explained my situation to their son (who also works there), he informed me that our appointments had been canceled because we had our records sent over to another dentist. Canceled without my permission, knowledge or being informed. When I also explained that I had called and texted several times (over 10+times), and that I wanted our appointments to be rescheduled ASAP, I was told that the earliest they could see us would be in June (which would take us to 9 months for a cleaning). He had no explanation for why they didn't return my calls or texts and when I told him I intentionally dialed *67 to get them to answer my call, he seemed unphased. He also didn't seem the least bit concerned when I said I guessed we would just have to take our business elsewhere unless they could figure out how to get us in. He informed me he would speak with his mother and either call or text me back. That was yesterday morning and I still have not received a call or a text. No apology, no explanation of why they canceled our appointments, didn't call to tell us, didn't return my calls or texts. So much for loyalty, please know if you go to this business, Dr. Saffari is a very sweet and kind person. Just know that his wife will also be very sweet and kind to you....Until you choose to do something outside of their office and she doesn't approve of it (sometimes a different dentist is what you need for very specific procedures and you do have the right as a paying consumer to choose your provider based on your preferences for care) You will then be treated very poorly and with little to no respect. My only regret is that we have supported their business for this long and Dr. Saffari is losing our business because of his wives unprofessional temperament. Very disappointing read more

Let's just start with the obvious, No one likes going to the dentist. With that said, there are good dentists and bad dentists. Near the end of Chkalov Drive, overlooking the 205 sits a lone cabin of an office, inside Dr. Reza Saffari, his wife Margarita and his handful of dental co-workers are some of the really good ones. Doc Saffari has an easy-going approach to his work that is contagious, it's all done in a homey office space that starts with a welcoming waiting area and friendly front desk staff and works its way back to the traditional dental chairs and exam rooms. Once inside, you can see that Dental Designs is as high tech a space as any dental factory out there. It may only be Dr. Saffari doing all the dental work here (he does have a couple of hygienists for the teeth cleaning duties), but he keeps it all moving and never makes you feel like you're being rushed. He's always happy to explain the details and give you options, but never uses any hard-sell techniques to make his point. My last dentist was pretty good but worked in one of those dental malls where the bureaucracy left me feeling like more of a number than a patient. With Dental Designs, there is a much more family feel to the business, not the least of which is Margarita who is a wonderful host (I'll bet she throws great parties) and will make you feel at home as soon as you walk into the lobby. I have experienced the care that Dr. Saffari and his staff provide and I am very happy to call him my new dentist. I can now stop going to the old dental factory and start getting my care in The Cabin of Dr. Saffari. read more

I realize that I am just like most people- I am only compelled to write a review when I am extremely impressed or completely disappointed at a service experience. This here is another "extremely impressed" type of review...but for real though, I am SO, SO glad that yelp led me to this wonderful practice. To say that I hate going to the dentist is an understatement. I know mostly EVERYONE says that, but I'm willing to bet I rank in the top percentile of hating dental visits. So much so that I have tended to only go when I absolutely have to...I know, I know- not good but what can I say- traumatic dental visits in childhood will do that to you. Dr. Seffari and his care team are absolutely the best. They are easygoing, warm, and very caring. I have had extensive work done by Dr. Seffari (root canals, old veneers removed, new crowns, etc) and have been so grateful for his care. He takes pride in his work and makes himself very accessible post-appointments. He knows how anxious I get during every visit no matter how big or small so his team hooks me up with everything I need to remain calm and chill throughout my appointment. This dentist has, for the first time in my life, made me a regular- I'm actually going every six months now! read more

I LOVE this dentist office and all the staff! Dr. Saffari was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and kind. I love that he is a holistic dentist. I had a bad experience at my past dentist office and was told I needed an implant and a cavity lift, which I knew was pretty extreme and had felt like they just wanted more money out of me. Dr. Saffari actually was able to save my tooth, give me a crown instead and I am good to go! I definitely get the feeling it wasn't about the money with him. Every time I go, they remember I have sensitive teeth and make sure they are careful with that and Dr Safari always checks the crown to make sure we are still good. I appreciate he looks after his work. I love that the front office gentleman lets me know ahead of time what my expected costs will be after insurance. The entire staff is very friendly, patient and kind. Margarita is always there to welcome us in and has even helped with my kids in the waiting room while I had to get a cleaning and my babysitting fell through. She even let them pick a toy from their treasure chest. Jenny (I believe that's her name) the hygienist always remembers me and is super friendly and gentle during my 6 month cleaning. The best dental experience in my shorts 52 years! Seriously, I have truly never experienced anything like Dr. Saffari's office. Aside from your home or maybe your favourite pub, where can you go to get a HUG from the doctor and his wonderful wife? (Let's face it, the world could use more businesses that offer hugs, right?) The level of expertise is exciting and refreshing. At this office, you won't walk out unless you're 100% happy with the service. I could prattle on for several paragraphs about how highly I recommend Dr. Saffari, but you won't know how good he is/they are until you go there. I went for a cleaning today and had it done by Jennifer Erickson who is so kind and like everyone else I met she is skilled and very knowledgeable. Jennifer did an excellent job on my teeth and shared so much with me about toothpastes such as what's in them bad and good and mouth health in general. He makes you feel like you're the most important person in the world. He is so great at making sure you are comfortable. This is where I trust to have my family of six. Every member of the office is friendly and accommodating on all levels. They have many all-natural alternatives to many products they use which is a total perk! They are a mercury-free dental office. Dr. Saffari is very welcoming and makes you feel very taken care of. I was so disappointed when the previous dentist retired but I have to say that Dr. Safari has made me feel very comfortable. He is very thorough and takes time to explain things. I went here about two years ago. I had to get a cleaning and cavity fillings. Scheduling was easy the doctor was very abrupt not a very comfortable feeling. She then said a woman would come in and do my teeth cleaning. ( sorry don't know the right term for her, also this was all paid and Scheduled for date) after the dentist left and the lady came in she came close to me talked quietly and said you know what let's just do this another you can schedule for another time. NO JOKE! She was being sneaky and they still gave my money to this day. I would highly recommend Lewis and family dental! They were amazing and did a molar removal. A person usually doesn't think of using the term "Awesome" for a dental office but Dr. Saffari and his team truly are! My husband and I had gone to Dr. Heppler in the past but our dental insurance was not on the preferred list, so we chose to find another dentist--BAD mistake! How pleasantly surprised we were to find Dr. Seffari had purchased the business. He really listens to the patient (rare in this age of "doctor gods"), he will suggest his ideas and I truly believe him when he says he wants to make our dream smile come true! Of course part of the experience is his backup team and they do not disappoint. From front office staff to hygienist and assistant, they are are exceptionally caring and knowledgeable. I broke two of my front teeth when I was young, and needed them to be worked on after the initial composite job was finally wearing down many years later. They did a super fantastic job on a crown (they color matched it so well it is impossible to tell it's not my real tooth) and did a great job repairing the old (original) composite job. Of important note- my prior dentist told me I should have ALL 4 front teeth replaced with crowns (including 2 perfectly healthy teeth) rather than just fixing my composite and having 1 crown done. He told me it would look absolutely ridiculous if I didn't do all 4 front teeth together, and that I would be unhappy with the result. After getting an estimate for $8k for this, I had to put it off because of the cost. Man, am I glad I did. When I moved to Oregon I found this practice and the doc was shocked (and even seemed disappointed) that my prior dentist had insisted on crowns for all 4 front teeth, especially when 2 were totally healthy. He suggested re-composite for 1 and a full crown for the other. It only cost me about $2k and I didn't destroy 2 healthy teeth. He could have gone along with my prior dentist's recommendation to crown all 4, making significantly more profit for himself. But he was honest and I just respect that beyond words - you don't always see integrity like that from other people in today's world. I've had to go in a lot between cleanings and the crown work, and each time they see me they are so friendly and genuinely caring. Every person that works here is a rock star. read more

I'm like many folks. I wait until something is wrong to visit the dentist or doctor. My GF and I had walked by the Dental Designs sign a number of times, getting a chuckle out of messages like, "eat more candy." We both decided to give them a try. Admittedly, I haven't been to the dentist in a number of years. I didn't escape without having the fruits of my neglect taken care of. However, if I would have blinked, I would have never known that they did anything. The office is very warm and Dr. Heppler and the staff are extremely friendly and professional. They even sent text message reminders to ensure I made my appointments. Way too many Yelp reviews are obviously shills from the actual business, or their family and friends. I guarantee that this is not the case, and I genuinely feel these guys deserve to be acknowledged for their efforts. It's too bad the "good guys" never get the credit they deserve, when most folks use the net to air out their horrible experiences. I am extremely anxious about seeing the dentist. To the point of panic attacks and letting my teeth get past the point of repair because I'm so frightened based on horrible past experiences with other dentists. Dr. Heppler however is able to explain things in this certain way that puts me at ease. He is honest and forthright, and extremely patient and gentle. I barely feel the shots when he gives them to me... Sometimes not at all... It's amazing. And that's the scariest part for me, personally. He is very careful to make sure you are completely numb before starting any work. He is also great as helping you decipher pain from pressure while he is doing work, which is helpful. He's done quite a bit of work on my teeth, including a crown, pulling teeth, removing mercury fillings, and filling cavities and I will NEVER trust anyone as I trust him. I highly recommend him and his amazing staff! It's a great environment, everyone is happy and sincere in their interactions with each other, and with patients. There's free refreshments in the lobby and all natural Chapstick in the bathroom which I find very thoughtful and kind. The place is also immaculately clean and nice. The prices are reasonable and cheaper than other biological dentists I've been to. The office is also Mercury free, which is amazing! I'm SO happy I found this place :) read more
