My son and his wife referred me here, I am so excited to have found Dental Partners of South Knoxville. I started experiencing horrible tooth pain, I spoke to the office on Monday and was able to get in on Tuesday. That to me is super fast compared to other offices wanting to scheduled a week to 2 weeks out. Dr. Smith is very skilled, kind, thorough in explaining treatment plan. The crown came off my tooth on Christmas. I knew that they wouldn't be open but since they weren't open I left a voice message. They advertise that they do emergency services. I just left my 4th message and still, even though they're open, they have still not answered the phone or returned my calls. Time to look for a new dentist. read more

If you are reading this and in the waiting room: RUN FROM THIS PLACE. I'm 99.9% they are running an insurance scam operation from here. If yelp let me give them a zero or red flag them- I would. Here goes: I went there for my annual teeth cleaning, approx 3.5 months ago and was told upon entering I needed to fill out my paperwork- except when you call and book your appointment you are emailed all the paperwork so you can fill it out at home, and email it back to them to "save time" but this place "can't print it out" yeah. That should have been my first red flag to leave... While filling out my (2nd batch of bs) paperwork, I was called my dental technician to ask why had I not cancelled my appointment if I wasn't going to be able to make it? This was esp curious as I was- at that point- sitting in the waiting room. Second red flag. I went back and had X-rays taken and had the bite plate for the X-ray jammed into the bottom of my tongue so hard I tasted blood- in spite of this- the X-ray failed to show the base of multiple teeth *but* they didn't redo it. Third red flag. I had a STANDARD TEETH CLEANING by the very apologetic and nice tech- who then up-sold me on their "peroxide scrub whitening treatment" for 11$. Ok- maybe I'm just overreacting I thought. This is fine. I was told I had 2 cavities and very tiny possibly 3rd that we would just wait to fill when it was big enough- I hadn't seen a dentist for years so this seemed fine. I booked an appointment for the next week to have one cavity filled. And would book the 2nd after I had the 1st done- better safe than sorry I thought. I arrived the next week and was told upon arrival that I didn't have any insurance info in the computer- and I would need to fill out the paperwork again. I finally had had enough and refused and low and behold- magically-they almost instantly found my info. Wtf. At this point I should have run. I had been given enough red flags and the fact that I stayed- I blame myself. The rest of the appointment was uneventful except the doc managed to stick my facial nerve and numbed half my head including my eyeball for half the day. Smh. I paid 270$ with insurance. Yeah. About a month later I got my first bill- this is supposedly with dental insurance- they claimed I owed over 1000$!!!!! I called my insurance and they were BAFFLED- they covered THE ENTIRE CLEANING AND HALF COCKED X-RAYS. Meaning THEY BILLED ME OVER 1300$ TO FILL ONE CAVITY??!!!!! Both my husband and I have called and spoken with the secretaries and "the manager" probably 10 times over the last 3+ months. They claim it's a mistake- every single time- and then say they are fixing it- but then they send the same bill again. Or at one point an even more trumped up, fake bill. They have also called multiple times to pressure both my husband and myself to come back and finish our dental work- in spite of the fact that they NEVER FIXED THE FIRST BILL. I can't imagine the gargantuan and TOTALLY FRAUDULENT AMOUNT OF MONEY they'd charge us if we returned. I'm at my wits end with this place. I like to think the best of people- but all I'm left with is this is literally a scam. The bills now say it's 60+ days late and Its really just a matter of time before they send it to a creditor for collections. I am livid. So I'm in the process of reporting them to the AMA and Office of the Inspector General. like I said at the beginning of this ridiculously long review: if you are at this dentist or thinking of going here- Don't. Go absolutely anywhere else. Save yourself and your pocketbook. read more

They did a great job getting me in and helping me out. Staff is super friendly and made the occasion nice. The prices are better than any dentist I've ever had before. After my cleaning I had to wait a little bit to be checked for cavities. Other than that I was in and out with my next appointments ready to go. read more

The entire staff is friendly, professional, caring, considerate, and helpful. All questions I had were answered in a way they made sure I understood. Dr. Smith takes the time to actually know her patient's and their likes and dislikes. As I have a disease that makes my teeth fall out, I have been embarrased for months in my personal life. Since I started with Dental Partners-South, I have been cared for, attended to my personal dental issues, and never made to feel embarassed, or less of a person because I had so little teeth. My family and I have been going to Dental Partners (formerly Dogwood Family Dentistry) for many years. We've always - every single time - had great service from beginning to end. They're very diligent about confirming appointment times (to a fault really) and even helped me figure out my insurance when my provider changed last time. The dental hygienists are friendly and professional. I still miss Dr. Hazenfield, who retired last year, but the new docs are great too. Billing is easy and I've never had an issue even with multiple adult dependents making appointments themselves - it always gets sorted out efficiently. Convenient SoKno location, ample parking, clean waiting room (though you won't be there long), clean work spaces, and they even give you a toothbrush, floss and small-sized toothpaste when you leave! I'm picky about dentists and they more than make the grade! read more

Dental partners used to be my main dentist, not anymore. I was charged over 1500$ for a root canal and crown with my insurance. Just to find out 3 months later at another dentist that the crown needs to be redone, since there is a whole in the crown. I am only a STUDENT!!! I am still paying my credit card for the last crown. They ruined my tooth and stole my money. If you are reading this, save your tooth, money and time and never step in here. read more

I booked my appointment a month ago online for a simple cleaning. I drive 45 mins to get to this location just to be advised that my appointment was cancelled and needed to be rescheduled due to the hygienist calling out. Ok fine! But wouldn't common practice be to call the patient and see if they are aware of this change ! All the office could say was we are sorry the call center SHOULD have called you and told you ! Yet no one called and time and gas was wasted ! I would not suggest this place to anyone ! They do not care about your time spent or even to call you to ensure you are aware of changes going on when I asked to speak to a manger she also couldn't explain why I didn't receive a call ! Which I showed no missed calls or voicemails ! This was my first time visiting and last ! Worst office in Knoxville . read more

I've been going here for years and have had terrific health care and service from every person at this office. I especially want to comment on one reviewer's claim: I am a real patient and have not been paid to write this. Dr. Shadi has done extensive work and I have no complaints. Melody is an excellent hygienist. When I had to have extensive work a couple of years ago, Dr. Shadi explained in detail all of the repair options, pros and cons. Her insurance manager explained all the costs and what my copays would be. At no point did they try to influence my decision or try to "upsell" me to the most expensive option. The solid work has stood up to time and use. The waiting room and suites are always immaculate. Everyone is always friendly and I have always been treated with the utmost courtesy and respect. When Dr. Hazenfield retired I was afraid I might have to find a new dentist. I'm glad I waited and gave Dr. Shadi a chance. It has been to my advantage. read more

My first visit was positive. I had recently had a root canal and my temporary filling had fallen out. The office staff seemed friendly and caring. I had already had a bad experience with another dentist, but I hadn't been to a dentist in years and did not realize that I had periodontal disease or what that meant, so I was truly hoping to have a good long-term working relationship with Dr. Shahdi Smith since I will need cleanings every four months for the rest of my life. However, the temporary filling fell out within a week. When I returned for another temporary filling while waiting for my insurance to approve a crown, I noticed a big change in the way I was treated. The reason, it turned out, was my insurance initially denied coverage for the crown, forcing them to file an appeal. Dr. Shahdi Smith's assistant pretended to replace the temporary filling in my molar, but when I got into my car and began to drive home, I felt the tooth with my tongue and discovered that the hole was empty. I immediately returned to the office and asked the assistant why she had not replaced the filling. She said that she had been instructed to only give me a "base-layer." She went ahead and put in a temporary filling then, but sending me home without a filling was concerning enough that I spoke with Dr. Shahdi Smith about it later over the phone. She immediately showed her true colors by becoming terse and rude with me and said we were not a good fit. I was so shocked that a dentist would do that to a patient, I knew I could never trust them after that. A few days later my insurance approved the crown and the treatments every four months, so they destroyed what could have been a good long-term doctor-patient relationship because they had to file an appeal with my insurance. I had read Shaiy O.'s frightening review about this dentist before I went the first time and wish I had taken it as a red flag. Dr. Shahdi Smith even had the nerve, after instructing her assistant not to fill the gaping hole in my molar and giving me the boot when I asked her about it, to send me a very rude letter. I am amazed that Dr. Shahdi Smith has positive reviews and strongly suspect that she pays someone to write those. I am a technical writer and I have been offered contract work by a doctor looking for someone to write positive reviews for him, so I know that goes on. read more
