Our stretch of Danforth is really well-served by dentists, but we were very interested in this new, well-appointed "Dental Hygiene Spa" kitty-corner to our local park. We'd heard good things, but only went ourselves very recently. First, and this is important: Impressions isn't a dentist's ofice - it's run by dental hygienists. (The Ontario government made it possible for dental hygienists to operate without a dentist's supervision with the Health System Improvements Act of 2007.) While they can refer you to a dentist, all they can do in-house is cleaning (scaling), polishing, sealing and fluoride treatments. That's enough for me, and I trust that someone who sees teeth all day can recognize a cavity, but they don't have an X-Ray machine, so they can't see between teeth; if that's what you're looking for, look elsewhere. I was really impressed with Impressions. Georgia, the hygienist who worked on my teeth (potentially their only hygienist?), was gentle but very thorough. I had a full examination beforehand, then a full scaling & polish. Before she starts the examination, though, she dips your hand in a bath of (hot, but not boiling) paraffin wax, then puts your hands in plastic bags and then (and I found this part cute!) oven mitts to keep the wax warm longer. I'd never had a paraffin wax treatment, and I really found it made my hands lovely & soft. And to have it at the dentist? unthinkable! My wife generally has trouble with her teeth and needs a lot of thorough cleaning, but she said Georgia was gentle and didn't hurt her gums much, a huge plus for her. Natalie, the receptionist/administrator, was really organized, and she contacted my insurance provider to find out exactly what was covered under my plan, then laid it out for me in a document she prepared. My only gripe is that we had to pay, then wait for the insurance company to reimburse us, rather than the thing I've seen a lot of other dentists do, send the form in to the insurance company and get them to send a cheque directly. She did send the form in for us, though, so it's not all bad news. All-in-all, we were really impressed, and we'll definitely be back. Impressions is a really great addition to the neighbourhood!

The hygienists at Impressions were super thorough and explained everything. They do an initial checkup, charting your teeth and gums. My teeth were heavily stained and they were able to clean them up perfectly. Not only that but they discovered the issue. I was using bad mouthwash! Above and beyond that, they give you a paraffin wax hand treatment to help relax you before they do the cleaning. I'll definitely be coming back!

He's removed a wisdom tooth, filled a cavity, and reviewed my teeth on countless occasions. I never have issues booking an appointment with Celeste, who is lovely and extremely friendly. I've consistently felt safe during COVID-19 with all of the extra safety precautions his team have added. When he removed an impacted wisdom tooth for me last year, I had zero pain or issues following the procedure. I walked around for a bit, sipped an iced coffee with no straw and snacked on a burger, and then biked home with minimal discomfort. Their facilities are aesthetically pleasing and, pre-COVID, they offered you a beverage. I've had two prior dentists in my life and this felt so bougie for me. If you're looking for a dentist in the area, I highly recommend him and I don't know anyone else who's seen him who would disagree with that recommendation.

I am an embarrassment…read more You know when you wake up (in your own bed [thank god]) and it's the middle of the week (like a Thursday) and your phone says the time is 1057 and you think... "hmn I shouldn't be asleep right now because I have another commitment and I just can't put my finger on it... and it's not work, it's something else..." And then you realize that you are supposed to be at the dentist getting your teeth cleaned in 3 minutes and that's why you feel like you shouldn't be sleeping off a mid-week bender? No? That hasn't happened to you? Then... my bad (I guess). Long story short - I called the dentist and said I would be late and they were totally cool about it. Then I showed up (looking/smelling like a hobo) and they were totally cool about it. Then I disallowed the cavitron 5000 from my cleaning and they were totally cool about it. The bottom line message I want to deliver to you in this review, is that I am never switching dentists again. Actually, that's not exactly true. I am never switching hygienists again. If Lisa moved to a different dentist office, I would move my records along with her. This was the most painless dental cleaning I have ever had. That statement is not a joke. I had not been to the dentist in 1.5 years, and there was a lot of cleaning that needed to be done; Lisa had brand new dental tools that she was delighted to break in on me. She was done in 45 minutes (I have historically had to break up cleanings into 2 visits) and when I inspected her work, I expected to see residual tartar and plaque because of the efficiency and painlessness of the service, but the cleaning passed the quality control inspection. I remain shocked by the quality of this cleaning and it has inspired me to floss more regularly, because I want to preserve the work that she has done here. This is my new hygienist and I hope that I die before she does (like... a long time from now) because I can't imagine finding another person that is this good at this job.
