Has an automatic door for disabled access and a lift for wheelchairs and prams. Has a brilliant children's section upstairs which caters for babies up to teenagers. Holds a story-time session for the under 5's on tuesdays and a cradle club for babies under 18 months, which is brilliant. Also runs bookstart passport scheme to encourage parents to share books with their babies and various challenges in conjunction with the council to encourage older children throughout the year. It doesn't always look like it has the range of books (it specialised in local history) but having said that, I've never not been able to find a book. If there is something you want, but can't find, they'll order it for you. In the summer holidays there are often a lot of children/ teenagers playing on the computers and making a lot of fuss. It's not a bit problem as the staff handle them very well, and there used to be a children's play area with toys and books in, though I'm not sure if that's still there now. Overall, very good.
