The shop (renovated house) is huge and has two floors of rooms stuffed full of antiques This shop sells period clothing which is the main reason me and my friends visit because we are interested in such things. It is enjoyable to walk around, yet a little creepy at times, especially if you are on your own. Staff are generally friendly but a little weary about youths and so when we walk in they follow us around the whole shop in case we do something stupid i suppose. The antiques are crammed in and so you have to be careful when you are walking round and this can be hard when things are hanging off of tables. It never seems to get very busy at all. The prices can be quite expensive.

It has over 55 dealers on two floors dealing in all sorts of antiques and collectables including vintage clothing, silver, vinyl records, furniture, military items, antique jewellery and much more. The Eagle Market surely isn't what it used to be, now located as part of intu Derby, it seems sad…read morewalking around the Market as it obviously has signs of what it once was, a great, vibrant, local market, it sadly isn't that anymore with so many market stalls vacated and now empty, and the few which remain packing up hours before it's due to close in the mid-afternoon, it lacks that vibrant feel to the point you can hear the cry out for revitalisation of the market which is built onto intu Derby, which is a pretty large shopping centre and the largest shopping mall in the East Midlands region. It seems that due to the management by intu, who purchased the mall in 2014, the Market has been in a period of huge decline to the point it just feels like it's on its last legs and if nothing changes it could be gone within the next 12 months or so, with high rents pushing vendors away and those which do remain are suffering due to a lack of footfall due to it being so empty and the overall positive vibe has formed into a more depressing one.

I was born in Derbyshire so going to the market at Derby was something I did quite often as a child. I have since moved to Leeds and being down in Derby for the day I thought I would take a look at how the market was going. I have to tell you. All the stalls I can remember from a child are there. but sadly there are many stalls that aren't open anymore. Derby has great offerings and since the Westfield centre has had a refurbish it does seem to bring the people closer to the market. So please give the market a go. You may be surprised and by supporting local people its great for the city/town.
