While in Valencia for a month, I decided it was time for a super short cut after a few years of letting it grow. Since that's not just a trim, you really need to go with someone who knows what they're doing for this. I took a chance and decided to trust the yelp reviews, and I'm so happy that I did! Jorge De Sancho gave me a real transformation. He really listened to what I wanted and very carefully gave me exactly that. He has an astute eye for detail, which I really appreciate. Also, his English is terrific, so there are no worries about communication if your Spanish isn't sufficient to describe the hair you want. Of course, when you go for a cut, that's what really matters, but the salon includes an array of little comforts to make you feel relaxed and at home. Everyone is extremely friendly, even Chloe, the resident pup. As someone with very curly hair, I've had my share of bad hair experiences. Coupled with frequent relocations to new cities and countries, this has led to a phobia of seeking out new hairstylists. After recently arriving in Valencia, I'd put off this necessary task far too long, in part because my Spanish is still very shaky. Well, I needn't have worried so. After reading reviews posted here by other Yelpers I decided to visit Desancho Estilistas. Jorge put me immediately at ease with his excellent English, and during the initial consult had some good suggestions for what to do with the untamed mop on my head. He and his colorist Elena listened to my concerns and delivered excellent results, and my hair is now much better behaved. Went in based on Yelp reviews...I'm a tough customer in that my color was bad and I'd had the same style for years. I was on vacation, and figured, why not give it a shot? If I got a bad cut, at least I would have the memories. Well, Jorge and his staff, including the lovely colorist Catherine, made me so very happy I walked the 20 minutes to get to this oasis. Cool AC, a movie in the background, coffee, and impeccable English were side notes to a freaking fantastic cut!! I've got a round face, Jorge took one look, and then gave me a great, bold new cut but only because I asked for something new. I think he would have happily done a trim if I wanted no change. I am new to Valencia, learning the Spanish language, and was in great need of an excellent Beauty Salon. Desancho Estilistas definitely won out. The Yelp reviews were true on all accounts. My appointment time was at ten and from the moment I walked in, I was made to feel like a special customer. Elena did a hair treatment, offered a great head massage during shampoo and conditioning and was very friendly and sincere. Jorge is just an OUTSTANDING professional. He listened to what I wanted and I left extremely happy with my hair color and cut. Jorge speaks fluent English and spent seven years in London perfecting his skills.
