I commend this 2 staff since they were excellent in what they do to make the tourist people like us to enjoy our stay and tour. Give them 5 star.

A full Irish breakfast is on offer and a full breakfast buffet with fruit, yogurt, and cereal. There is an outdoor patio with loads of seating. There is a sign saying the tables are only for dining, but they are happy to serve you if you are having drinks. Drink prices are reasonable. Very friendly staff.

Lovely older hotel with great bars in the area…read more Very quaint hotel with restaurant, bar, fireplace, amazing views from your hotel room looking over at the River Moy. You can walk to the bar Joe Biden set his feet in at the corner or walk across the street and sit in some very authentic Irish Bars that smelt like they were burning some peet for fire if I didn't know any better! Some houses in County Mayo still burn peet for fire even though I believe it is illegal now, to me it smells nice : ) We spent about three nights at this hotel and there is some shopping you can do in the area and if you get really adventurous, I think you can even do some clay shooting nearby. Set within the grounds, beside our private stretch of the River Moy, is the Mount Falcon Clay Pigeon Shooting Ground (be sure to research on your own as we did not shoot but we drove by the area to snap some pics of the beautiful surroundings.). The Train station is located very close to the hotel which made it fairly easy traveling. I hope to visit this area again in my lifetime and this trip really made me want to hit the lotto so I can travel more places that I never heard of and just soak up the moment and enjoy life. The bar downstairs seemed to be a local haunt. Very cozy and a great Irish coffee. It is right across the street from Pat Cohan's and the cross for any Quiet Man fans.

There was a coal fire burning to warm yourself by and a few locals and tourists came and went. There is a kitchen but we only sampled the onion rings which were excellent. I personally believe if you make a good onion ring, the rest of your food is good too. I saw a couple with fish and chips which looked excellent. When in Cong, I can recommend this as a place to stop in for a tea, coffee, G&T or beer. Maybe lunch too. You'll have to let me know.

Room was comfortable and well appointed for our two night stay. On the first night, we ate in the restaurant - a practice I usually avoid but it was a long drive from Dublin and many restaurants in the town were closed on a Monday night. My deep fried cod was on the right side of fishiness with just the right amount of batter, My other half's vegetable Indian curry was, reportedly, pretty good too. My 'dessert' was a very moreish Espresso Martini but as I was theoretically here for work I eschewed a second. However, on our final night here, a tour party of, shall we say 'seniors', were populating the reception area and 'enjoying' a singalong with what I'm guessing was a local wedding band. Excruciating noise and made the bar uninhabitable. A pity. Would happily stay here again if I'm in the neighbourhood so long as there are no 'concerts' on !! The food was great for breakfast and dinner. We had to go and get an order to go because one of my family members came down with a cold, and a bowl of soup is exactly what she needed. With service, there were times were people in our group tried getting a waiter's attention and it took a while for them to get them to take their order. The room was a very nice place to rest our heads. The bath was also a Jacuzzi, but it also came with a nice shower. So, if you are not a bath person, the shower was amazing. In our room, we had a "mini bar" that, if we brought back wine, there were wine glasses to be able to enjoy it. There is air conditioning in the room, which was a nice touch since I like a cold room when sleeping.

Then we got another room because of the broken bed and that one smelled even worse like cigarettes then the first one.
