Technician were able to give me a diagnosis and did not charge me the whole hour to diagnose which was surprising! They gave me a tour of the shop as well. They seem to specialize in BMW/MINI of all generations. I'll come back in the future as needed specially because of the great customer service, fair pricing and they know their Bimmers. I hope they do good work because the rudeness level of the lady answering the phone is crazy. Called in to see if they're capable of doing a job on my vehicle and possibly get an estimate. Answered yes quickly. Then immediately went, "well I can't get you until Wednesday, bring the car Wednesday." Um... would I be able to get an estimate before scheduling? "Well I can't get you anything without you sending me the VIN and license plate. What did you want done again?" Not sure what my license plate has to do with an estimate since I gave her the make and model of my vehicle. Will knowing the license plate suddenly make the job more difficult? Then immediately went "send me the information, I gotta go I have customers here." Overall not a good impression for someone that's a first time customer. That lady either needs some help with the workload at the front desk, or needs customer service training. read more

I used these guys until around 2019-2020 for my BMW when Shawn was still running the show. He's long gone now. I didn't mind waiting for work to be done either since I didn't always have a someone to shuttle me to home and back. When I've called to book service, they always direct me to the web site and tell me I can't wait for the work to be done in their waiting area. I was even in the area and stopped by once to just ask for an estimate for some work. I was told to go to the web site. So I did, and asked for quotes on 2 different jobs. They provided a quote for only one. I wanted to bring my own OEM, new in box, parts to save some $$. They told me I could do that, but the minute I drive it off the lot they aren't responsible for anything (even if it's a defect in the labor to instal them). And their labor-only quote with zero-guarantees on owner-provided parts was 50% higher than another local well known German import independent shop less than 5 miles from Desi. I don't know what happened at the higher levels of management/ownership, but Desi is not what it was some years back. read more

After three days of my car being at the shop I was called and told to come pick it up. They told me that I had an electrical issue but that they couldn't fix it because they just didn't have the time. How do you not have time? Isn't that what you do, Fix cars? This is by far the most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with. The older woman at the front desk was extremely rude. I called ahead to let them know my GPS showed I'd arrive around 6:05pm to pick up my vehicle, but instead of working with me, she yelled at me over the phone, saying she had been there since 7:45am and was leaving at 6:00pm sharp, no exceptions. Because of that, I was forced to wait an entire extra day to get my car and had to spend money on an Uber to get to work. When I returned the next day, the atmosphere was just as bad. The same woman was nasty toward me, and on top of that, she and the heavier man who claimed to be the manager were loudly arguing with each other--yelling and cursing back and forth--while I stood there waiting to simply pay and pick up my keys. I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to stop arguing before I could leave. This level of unprofessionalism and complete disregard for customers is unacceptable. I will never return to this establishment and cannot recommend it to anyone. read more

When you have one of these cars you understand that after a certain time frame they become what we ol' school guys call project cars. Well, I just picked up my 2012 Mini Cooper Coupe. On the way to drop it off I said to myself "this is the Mini's last chance". I will get it fixed and the next time it let's me down it will become a trade in! However, the repair was far less complicated than I thought and the fix was far more less expensive than I anticipated. Not the greatest in terms of finesse or people skills BUT they did an exceptional job on my 2005 Subaru Forester. I was quoted over $6k to change the transmission (required in order to resolve a front differential issue and on these cars it's all one piece), Desi did the trans, oil change, rack and pinion replacement, brakes and a bunch of other work for less than half of that!! When I dropped off the car it was barely drivable, when I picked it up it drove better than my 2018 Outback :) - ok, not quite but it drives amazingly!!! They are honest - there were a list of items I'd asked them to check that were fine and in each case they only addressed the items that imminently needed repair. Desi Auto Care was a breath of fresh air. They're legit! In MINI-forum I read good things about Desi. Eventually I took my Mini Cooper in for Transmission replacement and for the electric power steering pump job (failed without warning). My steering became very rigid, so new power steering pump was installed. He is a MINI whisperer, my job was done under budget with warranty including parts and labor. They're transparent and sent me photos of job being done and showed me old parts. They're reliable and always available in emergencies and showed great respect for my time. Thank you! :-) read more

Currently my MINI Clubman has 83k miles and it has several issues. Strong vibration which affects the acceleration, leaks from the water pump and the thermostat housing, loose timing chain started chain rattling. The car has been in a local MINI Dealership two times for the same issues. They actually made my car worse than before and service advisor refused to let me talk with mechanic who fixed my car. Enough! Don't ask me more. After cyber searching found this MINI specialist shop. Oh my gosh! Shawn was awesome! He listened to everything I asked for and gave me ridiculously low estimate. Plus they have so many great coupon deals on the website. (Don't forget to use them!) I never felt pressured. It's hard to find a knowledgeable, honest mechanic. Extremely disappointed with them shop. When I found them I was super excited to find a certified Audi shop that wasn't the dealership. I drove over an hour to take 2 of my vehicles to them. This is my first bad review and I waited to make sure I had all the facts before putting my experience on here. I don't know enough about cars to say whether they are crooks or just not very good but my experience was poor to say the least. We bought a Mini Cooper from a mechanic in Philly. I brought it here to get it checked almost right away because the check engine light was on. $1600 to repair. I called the guy I bought it from and he said I was being hustled and that he'd look at it free. It is my wife's car and felt we should get it repaired right and trusted Desi (based on these reviews) so I spent the $1600. Light came back on after 3 days. They looked at it multiple times and got it to go off but it came back on almost immediately each time so we gave up. A couple months later the car was losing power so I took it back. They said $1800. This time I took it to another shop where I had a referral from a friend. $300 later it's good as new and the engine light has been off for over 3 weeks. Shouldn't have spent the first $1600 but glad I avoided a second hustle and took it somewhere else. read more

I brought my MB in for an oil change. Initially I was told I needed an appointment but due to cancellations my car was able to be serviced. The owner was very personable and friendly. In response to your post. You stated I was notified by email and I did not approve on line for tire rotation. I never received correspondence by email nor was I informed I was to expect. I specifically told the intake person when dropping off my car what I wanted with regards to inspection, oil change and tire rotation. He wrote down my request in my presence. Furthermore, the brakes could not have been inspected, the pedal depresses to the floor. The power steering mechanism also must not have been inspected as it is not working well. You provided a receipt at time of pick-up, never was email mentioned or received. You charged $129 for the inspection in addition to the oil change and said "everything" checks out. Clearly an adequate inspection was not performed. I would strongly encourage others to avoid this place of business. read more

They fix it right the 1st time, and they don't try to con you into extra work. I highly recommend this place! Check Engine light on? They'll tell you what's wrong! I had some work done on my 2009 Audi A4. I had my oil changed, my transmission fluid and brake fluid replaced and I had also wanted to get my wheel alignment done for my car but they had informed me that my car didn't need the alignment and that it was fine so that was nice to see a shop that was honest about the work that was needed. In the past when I first purchased my car I used to get quotes on how much it would be to get certain things worked on for my car at the Dealership and it was crazy expensive so it's refreshing to find a car shop that will service my car with repairs at a fair price and never suggest repairs that my car does not need. Brought my BMW in for an alternator and battery replacement. Just a couple of weeks later I discover that Desi sold me a defective battery which no longer worked. Came back in and they replaced the battery but provided no explanation or apology whatsoever. Did they not test the battery the first time? Who knows. Took my cla 45 amg to desi for a headlight issue where the ballast needed to be coded. They couldnt do it which is fine and i paid 170 for their time. When i got home i notice 2 parts to my bumper missing, 3 fender screws missing, and a stripped screw they put in place of another screw they lost. To top it all off they aligned my bumper incorrectly and had to fix it all myself. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful. Brought my 09 range rover sport to this place twice. I've had to redo most of what they "fixed". I continue to find things hanging, missing and out of place. This is a joke and not worth the money. If you're looking for the worst customer service and low-rate mechanics to fix your European auto, you would be better off going to the lube place across the street. After sinking $3K into parts and $1800 in labor, I can look forward to a car that runs like crap and streams of oil flowing out the sides of my engine. And the best part... when Shawn agreed that it would be more cost effective for me to order a rebuilt cylinder head than rebuild the existing one, he helped me pick one out and have it shipped to the shop. But he never explained that they won't back up their work with a warranty if I ordered the part. I found out with the final bill. Did I mention that this 2 week quoted job turned into a month. And even then I had to demand my car back just to get them to do a rush job and finish. This is the one and only time I'd recommend the dealers of these guys any day. read more

A few weeks ago my wife brought my daughters 05 Mini Cooper S in. We were looking for a local shop to work on it without paying dealer service prices. The car had the check engine light on and was showing a P0700 code which comes up as Transmission solenoid assembly is bad. The shop charged us $133.59 for a Diagnostic Fee and told her the transmission was bad and to get rid of the car. I took it to AAMCO to have the trans checked they stated the code could mean different things. After their diagnoses they found a bad wheel speed sensor. After they replace the bad sensor and a few small repairs it cost me $750.00. The car now runs great where Desi told me to get rid of it and who know what that would have cost us. John G read more

I live across the street and I read the reviews. I got quotes from other businesses and Goodyear wanted $445.00 for the same repair. All I needed was a camshaft. I have a Nissan 2008 xterra and its 10 years old and never had a major issue. So, the engine light went on and I took it to Desi auto care. I was nervous bringing it to a new repair shop. I was using the same one for 2 years but decided to change. Shawn, the owner told me what to expect, and he was talking to Drew, the mechanic who worked on my car, and one of the ladies from the front office. They wanted to make sure they were on the same page. I think that is wonderful. Great teamwork. My repair was done for $231.00, labor included. What a savings! I highly recommend this repair shop. Wanted to use a local business rather than dealer for an oil change so selected DESI as they claimed they could do Jaguars. It was estimated this would be a one hour wait. After the oil change they couldn't reset the service message and their solution was to unhook the battery. I warned them not to do this as I'd loose all the engine settings but they did it anyway. I drove off the lot and immediately got a load of error messages. Took it back and then spent 2 hours waiting for them to reset what they could. During this time I noticed that the items I had in my trunk were sitting on their work bench from the first time it was in the bay. (Battery is in the trunk.) They didn't put the items back and would have never noticed it unless I found them. They tried to get the convertible hood down and in doing so I have got some oil smudges on the tan top from dirty hands. As I left they said I may get more error codes! Seriously? I went to Pro Imports and got the computer reset. These guys don't know modern cars particularly Jags. 3 hours for an oil change? Really. No apology or price break. read more
