I was admitted here after a trip to the hospital. The social worker said that it was 100 percent…read morecovered. She said home rehab would not be covered 100 percent. I didn't think I needed rehabilitation. I was ambulatory, going to the bathroom on my own, feeding myself and gave myself a shower. I believe, they saw my very good insurance and didn't want to loose the opportunity. The food there, I wouldn't give to a stray dog, they deserved better food. I thought maybe it's because I had tested positive on Covid the week before and they had to serve a paper bag lunch with crap food. I was literally starving, I had to order out Saturday night cuz I was so hungry. The next day, I saw my roommate was feed the same stuff. I had asked if I could get a couple yogurts etc. I would be told sure and they never back back. I would turn on my light, a hour later they would come in ask me what's wrong I'd tell them, they would say I'll be back with your meds, never to see them again. They would just turn off my call light all night and not show back up. I was prescribed, pain medicine for pain management. Been on pain management for 20+years for my failed back and neck surgery. I was supposed to get 30mg of pain meds twice a day(12hours) I was left in pain for 24hrs and then was told, I only had to ask for the pain meds, that it was an as needed order. I was furious, I said, I did, 3 times you all just kept turning off my call light and not come back. I'm also on psych meds for Bi-polar, severe depression and helps me sleep at night. The 1st night,I received them. The next day, at bedtime I asked for my sleep/psych meds, the nurse says, your not ordered those . meds. I wanted to run my head into the wall cuz I was so angree. I was like, you can't make this stuff up. On Monday morning, I at 9am I called the front office and told them I was leaving at 10am. They tried the scare tactic about not getting scripts for my meds etc. I said, don't need them, my meds are all at home. I don't need to be here, even the doctor said I didn't need to be here, he had already told me he would write for the one med that the hospital had lost on me. So, I was properly discharged anyway and left by 10 30am. So, there is so much more I can write, and would like to but I don't have time. I'm pretty sure 'you get it' I Just wanted to warn any other potential patients or patient family members to think twice about coming here.

Do not leave your loved one here! My grandmother went here after surgery, and we quickly realized…read morethat the place was understaffed and poorly run. We had an uncomfortable experience with one aid that became aggressive with my grandma when she asked for help with the bathroom and then left her lying in bed and she had to wait for someone in dietary to help her to the bathroom. We put in a complaint and were promised that this aid would be removed from her care and that the they wouldn't even know about the complaint, but the very next night that same aid came in and began questioning my grandma about her putting in a complaint getting even more aggressive and scaring her. The beds have no railings (we were told that they didn't have them because they were a safety issue) and were very noisy and loud when the motors kicked in or when the bed was adjusted which lead to little rest. From talking to other patients it seems that ManorCare used to be a good place but after being bought out the staff's hours were cut and the care has slowly been going down as more of the employees get (rightfully) frustrated and burned out or just leave. It took on average about 30 minutes to answer the call bell, it took several days for them to change her bandages on her bed sore, and a bunch of other tiny things that lead to not only an uncomfortable experience but a scary one for my grandmother.
